Seems like a pretty incredible deal, purchase a lighter for $5.60 and get a $50 Weber Store Gift Card.

I took the liberty to call the Weber Head Office number in the terms and they confirmed that it's redeemable on BBQ's, Accessories and pretty much everything that the Weber Store sells (either in-store or online).


Terms:

To enter customers must purchase, in one transaction one (1) participating promotional product highlighted in Coles (including Coles Express). The customer needs to retain the receipt as proof of purchase to register online. Participating products in the Promotion mean BIC Multipurpose Lighters including:

  • The customer must register at www.bicbuyandwin.com.au, where they will need to upload their Proof of Purchase (Receipt) and their contact details. Prizes are an instant win and will be allocated when the registration is verified as valid on the promotional website. A confirmation email with details how to redeem the reward voucher will be sent to them within three (3) business days.

  • The Instant Win Prizes are Weber Store Gift Card vouchers, valued at $50 per product. Total of up to 199,995 vouchers can be claimed during the promotional period against equal no. of products. The prizes remain subject to availability.

      I'm pretty sure it was intentional given it has been that way for more than a week.

    Received 4 x Reward Access Codes 7 days ago, submitted the codes and still haven't received a single voucher. 2+ weeks since the original purchase date. I am giving up and returning the lighters with zero guilt. They really messed this promo up hard.

  • Been 2 weeks since I’ve registered my claims. I received 1 code a week ago, but no gift card.

    Tried calling the number on the website and it goes to voicemail.

    I doubt they’ll be any updates. Time to return the lighters. Such a joke and scam of a promotion.

  • I finally received my access code for a purchase I registered on 18 Jan and after registering this is what I got:

      Don't bother. I have about 10 access codes from last week and this morning and none of them work.
      They are all returning "Data of promo code not found" error.
      Completely useless

    Bought 2 lighters on the 13th. Codes came through with the sketchy notes about redeeming on BBQs a couple days later but redeemed anyway and two gift cards came through not long after. Ordered accessories from Weber which arrived about a week ago now with no issues.
    Bought another lighter the following Tuesday cause it was pretty much free money. I finally got the redemption code this morning (about 2 weeks later). My guess it will be exactly the same as before and a gift card will eventually come through. If not it doesn't matter because 1. I have already received some gift cards in the spirit of how the promotion was intended to run and 2. I returned all of the lighters yesterday so it hasn't cost me a cent.
    The latest comments since this time last week are great reading. Good lesson for all those neg voters would be to jump on straight away and not take the p!ss and then cry foul with T&Cs when it doesn't work in your favour.

      • When it first appeared the promo was ‘too good to be true’. People took a punt with 1 or 2 lighters and what do you know, it was true. Then once word got out it works people game the promo and order 10 at I time and try to claim. I went greedy after that too. The processing bic will take to go through all these claims will take a while as they realise it can be taken advantage of. I know you’ve had other issues with it but for the large part it’s a great promo but now have to be patient.

      That's your own fault. you must have entered different set of personal details. All fields must match perfectly.
      Having said that you will likely run into "data of promo code not found" error anyway.

    Be patient, I did eventually receive the giftcard. I lodged the claim on 13/1, received the Reward Access Code on 25/1, and received the gift card on 31/1. I've put through a purchase to the Weber website for accessories. Hope it arrives…

    There was some "score-threshold-not-met" error initially when i tried to lodge the Reward Access Code to claim the giftcard, but after retrying a few times it went through ok.

    • It seems that people who submitted their claim on the 13/1 (to 16/1?) will eventually get a Weber gift card. Claims on the 17/1 onwards are getting the 'Bic reward voucher'. Not sure if this relates to when they changed their T&Cs (or submitted the change?).

          I would use it as soon as possible. not verified but someone did say their giftcard balance went to nil or something after 3 days despite having validity of 3 years.

    OK well my Hail Mary's have paid off

    Miracle of miracles after only a month I now have received 2x Weber store gift vouchers.

    They are valid for 3 years, and if you don't use the full amount in 1 transaction the remaining balance stays on the card.

    I don't really want a BBQ so I ordered some BBQ mits ($24.95 each, wow) and some can/stubby coolers.

    I'd say about $25 worth of gear for $99.80 of vouchers.

    At least I got something.

  • I dunno what the fuss is about, I just received a Weber Voucher Code. In a balance check, it says $50 available and expiry 2025.

    That's contrary to the e-mail from the promoters, which does go on about 72 hours to use it, and being for BBQ Purchases only (when I bought the lighters, it was BBQ's and accessories.

    What's with the talk of having to redeem via Bic? My voucher is to be applied directly at the Weber store (online or physical).

    I have another voucher coming, I hope. Maybe tomorrow…and then I'll see if I can get accessories per the original T's&C's.

        • Well now, this thing is so unnecessarily complicated…first lodge my claim? Does that mean submitting the receipt or doing the redemption of the code they send for a Weber voucher?

          I submitted two receipts early on in this debacle. After a week or so (I can't remember dates, and they don't send you any acknowledgement), I submitted the receipts again. Within a few days I received the code to redeem for vouchers (both on the 25th Jan - one at 10:28am, and one at 5:21pm). I immediately redeemed the first code, and then would have done the second on the 26th.

          Today (31st Jan), I have my first Gift Voucher. I guess that bit has been 3 business days as promised.

      • It's ok if you don't know what the fuss is about - that's good news.

        Apparently they will take a look at the gift card issued, if there is still a balance after 72 hours, they will recycle the voucher and send it to the next person, i thank that's how the only $50 gift card I got (expiry 2025) ended up having a balance of $0.05

          Ok…so the lesson here is, use them as soon as possible I guess!

            (Having said that, BIC will throw at you the error 'data of Promo code not found' so that you practically can't just redeem whenever you want. You can redeem whenever they allow you to redeem 🤣)

              Besides…I'm a little sceptical that it all might still work (such as it can be called working) in a couple of months time!

      • Update…second (virtual) Weber Gift Card came today (of the two I'd applied for). Per original T&C's I was able to order accessories. I don't think I'll be needing Q convection trays for quite some time.

        Was tempted to get a small Smokey Joe, but the $50 only gets you down to $69, which is in the ballpark of sale prices anyway (currently can be had at Catch for not much more than $70).

    Well, finally I received my GC after submitting on the day the deal was posted, then resubmitting a week or so later. I'm guessing they're under the pump with this promo. I ended up also getting a second reward code I guess from the second submission, but I get a "Data of promo code not found" error when trying that one.

    Anyway, I used another giftcard I had laying around and now have a Baby Q Premium on the way for $49 out of pocket delivered.

    Wondering if it's worth the effort of going through it again to get a half hotplate.

        • thanks mate. that link is to redeem Reward Access Code. After redeming the access code there, they will send you another email with the link to access the actual Reward Voucher Code, and this is where i get the error "This site can’t be reached".

    • My wife got me the Baby Q for Christmas, and we've flogged it since. She reckons she's never buying a cooked chook again.

      I did get the half plate as well. I don't use it a lot, but we have done breakfast on it a couple of times, and it's good for onions etc - it's useful enough that I think I'd buy it again. I was also given the fry pan, so probably didn't need the half plate.

      Just angling for a bigger model now, for the occasional larger cook ups.

        Go for the charcoal range. Once you've cooked on charcoal BBQ, you will never go back.
        I have a Family Q which is now gathering dust since I purchased Weber Go Anywhere.
        Roast chicken on the charcoal bbq is to die for, especially with nice bbq rub.

  • I reckon there is probably an error in the link between the front end online form and their backend database where your data is stored from the original registration. Either that, or they've purposefully deactivated that link.

    • They probably figured out they either give us the vouchers (which are budgeted for) or end up having a pile of lighters they will never sell now due to the reputation they created on themselves plus other dealings with fair trading and ACCC

    • Did you get the 'gift card' email with your codes or the 'Bic reward voucher' email? Doesn't seem like anyone's received the email from Bic yet where you have send your credit card info, etc., via email.

    I put my redemption in on the 9th of Jan and redeemed it as soon as their system stopped dying. They never sent it to me and are now denying everything lol…

    I guess that's one way of stopping people from actually using their promotion.

  • Now I keep getting spammed with codes. Lol I put in 5 claims and so far I have now received 12 codes /emails saying success and to click on link and input the code which then gives me an error and 8 emails saying I'm unsuccessful. What the heck
