    Is it 5G?

  • Potentially another 5% off with Student Beans.

  • Has anyone experienced with these phone, are they good?

    • +2

I have been using this phone for the last 2 years and its great. Very good cameras, fast OS (Android 11), fast charging, Oppo customer service support is pretty good. Only downfall is no SD Card storage

      • Oppo customer service support is pretty good

        Oppo?

        • +7

Realme is a sub-brand of Oppo. Much like Poco to Xiaomi etc.

        • +3

Oppo, realme, oneplus, vivo are all owned by BBK. They're the 2nd biggest phone maker in the world. But hardly anyone has them here.

    • +5

I'm using it from past 2 years. Bought on full price from jb hifi and its worth it. Superfast charging, superfast phone, long lasting battery. I do uber eats use it all day using car charger, still phone is not broken 😂😂

      Love it

  • How does this phone compare to Samsung A series (eg. A32/52/72) models?
    Thanks

    • -5

Here's a couple of key things that would make me go for the Samsung Galaxy A52/53 over this:

      • This phone has no water resistance
      • This has an LCD screen instead of OLED
      • Android security and OS updates would be scarce with the Chinese phones
      • Cameras would likely be better in Samsung phones
      • Oh I see… thanks that is some useful insight!

      • +9

'Android security and OS updates would be scarce with the Chinese phones'

because samsung have a good track record with os updates now? which universe did we live in mate? realme/poco and other cheap chinese brands are making major market gains in developing se asian countries because they are good value for money and provide constant os updates unlike samsung

'Cameras would likely be better in Samsung phones'

like literally even the cameras themselves are all-so similiar in technical specs and realme also uses samsung sensors but ok

'This phone has no water resistance' 'This has an LCD screen instead of OLED'

These are all valid points, however, you also failed to mention all the gains the realme have over the samsung-much better SD855+ cpu, dual sim, and being 100-200$ cheaper depending on which model you take.

btw you forgot to mention one major pro of the a32/52/72: it got a 3.5mm headphone jack

        • +2

Fyi, Samsung promises 3 Android versions and 4 years security of security updates now.

          https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-android-updates-114…

        • +5

because samsung have a good track record with os updates now?

Having owned a number of Samsung galaxy phones since the Samsung Galaxy S1, I'd say yes from experience. Even my wife's Galaxy Note 4 continued to get security updates until about 3 years ago. Samsung phones get 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates. I don't think the Congress phones would come anywhere close to that.

like literally even the cameras themselves are all-so similiar in technical specs

There are a two key parts to camera output quality, the hardware, and the software. Samsung invests a lot more into both than these brands do, so the output is generally much better and have better features.

These are all valid points, however, you also failed to mention all the gains the realme have over the samsung-much better SD855+ cpu

Yes but chip performance is also dependant on software optimisation and the vendors willingness to provide support and bug fixes regularly. Also most of these chips the performance in daily usage isn't really noticeable unless you're playing really hardcore games for a while or doing video editing.

OLED screens use less battery and also the displays are just much better to look at.

The other thing to remember is local store support and 2 years Aussie warranty on Samsung phones which most Chinese phones don't have. And they have better resale value.

Because of these differences, yes there is a price difference. But the person who I replied to also just asked about the A series, and not a particular device in the A series, so I compared it with a device I've had recent experience with, which is the A52.

@Trishool: If you're concerned then simply put the Google Camera app. I use gcamera on my Poco with no issues.

          • @Trishool: I've been doing spreadsheets comparing phones for someone who is putting a high weighting on how long the phone is supported with security updates from the manufacturer. Some examples:

phone released os updates security updates cost cost per year of security updates
            Samsung a32 released 2021 2 yrs 4 yrs $329 $109
            Samsung a52 released 2021 3 yrs 4 yrs $549 $183
            Realme X3 SuperZoom 8GB/128GB released 2020 1 yrs 2 yrs $299 $299
            Google Pixel 4a released 2020 3 yrs (till mid 2023) 3 yrs (till mid 2023) $599 $399

Given the Realme x3 was released in 2020 then it "may" not get any more updates after the middle of this year, whereas the Samsung a52 would get os updates for at least a another couple of years and security updates for another 3, and the Samsung a32 would get similar security update period but with slightly less os updates (from what I understand).

If you divide the total cost of the phone by the supported period then the Samsung a series with the 4 year security updates come out better than the Realme x3.

It is worth noting that although the Samsung A series beats the Realme x3 on this criteria, other phones like "some" of the xiaomi and oppo for example will beat the Samsung A series phones.

There is a YouTuber that conducts durability tests. The Realme SuperZoom seems to come out pretty well.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkWS66N_CiU

Regarding water resistance. IP ratings cost money, so the end user pays for it eventually. Manufactures can still build phones that are water resistant, but don't want to pay for the IP rating and hence do not state in their advertising. Even if a phone has an IP rating, it is still best to check the manufacturers fine print determine support if water actually enters the phone.

There is also a good comparison of the Realme SuperZoom camera vs the Huawei P40 Pro Plus and Samsung S20 Ultra Camera if you want to use it as a reference

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E9wbDvDkFM

Additionally the SuperZoom has a Samsung sensor for the primary camera and a Sony sensor for the selfie.

I have been using Realme 7 and its fantastic! Around $350 compared with similar phones that will cost you $700+++

    • +4

I'm using Realme X for the past 2.5 years. No lag so far. I bought it for $375 from China on the release date.

Those eBay listings in the description are from some random seller (not realme) and appear to be grey import based on the following feedback.

changer,s plug is not Australia type others all good
    realme X3 superzoom, 12+256, SD855+, 120Hz, 64MP, 60x Zooming

Good luck trying to claim warranty if needed especially with no business info listed.

The negative vote is to draw attention to the fact that eBay links in the description are for some random seller instead of realme as the title of this deal might lead one to believe.

    • some random seller instead of realme

I never said the eBay listing is realme, I have changed it to "3rd party seller" to make it clear. I put it there because of the extra eBay code.

      • +7

I've had to cancel my ebay order now and put another order through Realme site. Don't mix sellers in the same post unless you very much specify it.

        • -1

OK, I put it there because somebody mentioned that eBay listing in the Amazon's deal.

          • +6

@superforever: "Amazon OOS, you can buy from realme directly"

and then you stick two Ebay links with the model numbers against it.

            Context matters.

            • +2

@bchliu: OK, removed 3rd party seller and leave realme eBay store.

    • +1

The main link (Picture) goes to the Realme site and it is for sale at those prices. I got duped into the Ebay one too and I've put through a cancellation on that one from eBay (sigh, they aren't as efficient at order cancellations as Amazon). Hopefully they can cancel the ebay one since I've put another order with the real Realme site.

      • +2

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/303609699088 this looks to be from the realmeau store

      • I don’t think you can. Same as you I was misled to the third party eBay store and placed my order.

Check the condition carefully and it indicates no cancellation accepted.
I have sent the email to the seller and fingers crossed the order can be canceled.

        • Cancelled. I got my confirmation via email and paypal refund already..

    • +1

      Thanks for spotting it out!

THE REAL STORE HAS AFTERPAY but I've already ordered POCO F3 and prefer MUIU

  • +1

I purchased 2 of the 12/256GB variants over 6 months ago and they have been great phones. Was getting regular updates until recently (last update was November). They have remained super quick and easily last all day with a lot of use. Also did an accidental drop test off of a roof onto concrete and not a mark (using provided case). I have found them to be great phones especially given their price.

  • Thanks, just ordered from realme store so I can claim GST. Does it come with a clear case or need a screen protector?

The spec page below just says in "In the Box" - "protect case" and "protect film" so I'm guessing maybe they are included?

    https://www.realme.com/au/realme-x3-superzoom/specs

    • +1

Yes, it comes with a clear case and screen protector attached to the screen.

      • Thanks

  • Does it have NFC? Dual SIM?

    • Yes

  • I have had the realme 7 pro for over a year. This is a better phone. For 299 it is a fantastic phone. It doesnt feel cheap and a true midrange phone for a low end price. I would go this over a samsung A series.

The type of person that would buy this phone, the $299 is fine.

  • How's this compare to Oppo Reno4 5g? This is better overall right?

  • I was trying to check the specs on the cameras.

The 60x zoom appears to be only 5x optical, then would be 12x digital (12x5) for what that's worth.

    I could be wrong.

    • Refer to the YouTube comparison I posted further up the page regarding the performance of the camera.

  • I have Realme 7 5G and its fanstastic. I might get this for my partner.

    • I have the 7 5g too and recommend it! Where does this x3 model sit in the range? I keep the 5g switched off anyway, 4g is fast enough for me :)

  • Took the plunge on the 8/128 for 284.05 on Ebay with code via Social Good. Couldn't justify the 399.00 for the 12/256as not sure how long updates will be provided.

    • Have they provided you a tax invoice for the ebay purchase ?

      • Not that I've seen yet.

    • Let us know if the purchase is tracked by SG. Apparantly there is an issue with tracking now. All purchases after 17th Jan are not tracked in the system.

      • Not appearing in shopping history as yet.

        • eBay purchase can take up to 48 hours to track. My purchase from last night has not been tracked either.

  • Besides no 5g, is this phone less capable than the Oppo Reno 4? How about warranty? The Oppo had 2 years. How about security updates on the Oppo versus this phone?

  • I need a new phone. my poco f2 pro is dead (salt water damage) :'( Not sure what to get.

looking at this phone too at banggood $389
    or realme superzoom ebay $284
But I'm looking for something maybe abit better any reconditions?

    • +1

my poco f2 pro is dead

I'm actually wondering if this is still available anywhere? Would love to get one now as a backup phone if it can be found on the cheap1

  • Don't think so, I bought mine from tobysdeals which is no more..

  • -2

    OPPO over this!

  • +2

    Deal is gone now

  • Anyone else get realme buds air wireless headphones with their X3 order, not sure if I got someone else's by mistake? I ordered from realme directly and just bought the $299 128gb version.

Also on the box I noticed what looks like a manufacturing date 2020.06.03 and my battery was completely dead, implying that the phone sat in a warehouse for 18 months! Hope the battery is still good, I'm guessing the old build date is behind the heavy discounting?

    • Realme buds were included with X3 Super zoom from launch until 31/07/20 or while stocks last*

From a launch review I read somewhere.

Edit: Review was at Canstar https://www.canstarblue.com.au/phone/realme-x3-superzoom-rel…

      • +1

Interesting, sort of aligns with the build date of June 2020, however the buds were in a separate retail box so could have been separated from the X3.

    • +1

Yep, got earbuds too. Same build date.

    • The battery of the 'free' Buds Air is really really bad. It lasts less than 30mins after full charge.

  • +1

Wow realme is good! Express posted and free airpod! Purchased Tuesday 11pm,dispatched Wed,got it today!

    • Let me know how your Android transfer goes, mine has not transferred much from my Motorola Android 10 phone. Did you get air buds?

      • It's transferring fine…50% from 2 hrs ago

    • Did you buy from eBay for the free earbuds? Mine has not been posted yet I bought from Real Me direct.

      • na realme direct

  • +1

Just received mine. Free earbuds. Even include a charger and a case. Samsung and Apple could learn something here.

    • -2

Lots of updates to get to latest Android 11 (3 so far, maybe more). Another downside of getting a phone built 18 months ago. My 18 month old "new" battery still seems to be pretty good, phew!

    • Did you buy from eBay for the free earbuds? Mine has not been posted yet I bought from Real Me direct.

      • No, I bought it from realme directly.

      • We got earbuds from ebay

  • Since I've started using this phone, I have had a phenomenal amount of spam calls, including from overseas. Has anyone else experienced this?

    • lolllll dont think its the phone. did you sign up to some randoms stuff or like me dumbaf buying stuff from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/676339

I GOT LIKE 20 mixed TEXT and CALLS a day ever since they cancelled my order.

  • hmm everytime I unlock the phone using fingerprint the menu of display over other apps pop up. Anyone knows how to disable that?
