I want one with all USB C's.

    • +1

Seems actually hard to find. Satechi do some, but not in AU and only 3 USB-C ports.

      • +1

I've been keeping an eye out for this but it hasn't reached Australian market yet it seems. 3x USB C and 1x USB A. No cable to the wall socket but I think there are a few options to get around that
        https://zendure.com/products/superport-s4

        • Yes a very small extention lead

      • +1

Found a Sateshi AU 4-port being released soon. https://satechi.net/products/165w-usb-c-4-port-pd-gan-charge…

Just spoke with their live chat. Stock will arrive end of January.

        • Damn that looks sexy. But the price…

        • It's strange that the satechi one doesn't list any other charging protocols.. only USB PD. One of the reasons I like the zendure one is because it supports so many charging protocols

    • +7

Or at least more than one lol. Usb C was supposed to be the one. Turns out it is not only complicated and confusing, but also expensive.

They are hard to find and expensive. And you have to read through supported protocols to make sure it will work with your device…

      • +3

USB C ended up being multiple "ones". Such a mess.

    • +3

Yes, all usb c with 30w pd would be nice

    • +1

What do you have that needs 5 USB C ports?

      • +9

        Laptop, tablet, phone, headphones, earphones.

        • -4

Of which you only need to charge three at one time.

(Nobody runs down laptop and tablet and phone simultanously. Or headphones and earphones. Not before putting them on charge.. So I'll give you laptop/tablet + phone + headphone/earphones = 3).

          • +4

@justtoreply: My WFH setup is I use my laptop for working, ipad is for Teams calls (keeps my laptop free) I use my headphones for the Teams calls, and my phone is always ready for phone calls as needed.

So I usually am chopping and changing between topping up phone and headphones. It works but be nice to have all 4 on charge. Plus overnight I need to charge my watch.

So I would prefer MORE than 3 ports, could definitely survive with 4, future proof 5.

            • @mooney: Fair go.

              • @justtoreply: i do have 2 usb charing hub like this, and have lot of aux-device plugged in all time.

            • @mooney: I use this amd have my laptop plugged in via USB C, 1 32 inch 4k monitor, 1 34 ultrawide monitor, phone charger (USB C) and has been very reliable. Might be worth considering if you want to consolidate a few things into one although very different price points.

          • +1

@justtoreply: Got three phones, laptops and headphones.
            The more the merrier.
Even for work, I have two laptops logged in at the same time- very handy, esp if you are presenting at the meeting.

        • Plus watch.

        • +1

But it is only 60w. It can't charge all of those (multiple laptops + phone) at the same time.

QC phone by itself is ~20w.

A single low powered laptop is typically 60w (higher powered laptops are upwards of 200w - anything with a gtx 1070 or above).
The ports on this charger are fine for the wattage it offers.

I wouldn't consider charging a laptop with this.
I'd charge one phone with QC, a few phones without QC, wireless earbuds, etc other low powered devices only.

When including (a single) laptop into the mix, would go for minimum 90w, with more power needed (+60w / laptop) for more laptops.

          • @jkim: This is in response to 5x USB-C

This device would technically work with a MBA, though the other devices world be linked to a standard charge rate

            • @ihfree: The 5x USB C doesn't seem to exist today, when it does appear I would expect/ want it to be over 100w.

              • @mooney: Not yet, but there is demand for it. Following the comment train back:

I want one with all USB C's.

What do you have that needs 5 USB C ports?

                Laptop, tablet, phone, headphones, earphones.

    • Or at least more usb-c than usb-a

  • +4

I assume you replaced the BW-S16 which is up to 65W PD. This one is 30W PD + 30W Shared between the 4 USB A ports

    Also of note:

Not compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge, and Xiaomi Air.

    • +2

Thanks for that, didn't realise chargers were even made these days without QC!

    • +1

If you just charge phones, watchs or tablets, they are perfectly fine. Each of these device won't charge over 27w anyway.

    • +1

Yep you're right, that's exactly what I'm replacing. Unfortunately for me the ports only work when they want to so the higher 65W is wasted in my case :(

  • +3

I ordered this yesterday - good to see my choice validated by a deal post.

  • +1

I’ve got the older model of this which seems to be working fine, however I’ve never got all ports plugged in. How does this compare to the GaN ones that seem to be quite popular? Are the GaN ones worth it? Have been waiting for Anker to make one but they haven’t issued one yet. I’m not familiar on the quality of the Blitz Wolf and other brands so have been hesitant to buy them.

    • +3

If you have an older model that is working fine, there's no point replacing it.

How does this compare to the GaN ones that seem to be quite popular?

Anker is a more reputable brand. This is a larger charger than GAN chargers.

Are the GaN ones worth it?

Depends what you need. If you want a more compact charger, then possibly.

Have been waiting for Anker to make one but they haven’t issued one yet.

If you're looking for similar to this, There's the Anker PowerPort Atom III GaN

My personal feeling is that you should look for a reputable brand and detailed reviews before purchase. There's also an argument for sticking with the original. Recently discussed on this post for the koGAN 68W charger: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11638392/redir

      • Thanks for a super comprehensive reply! I didn’t realise that Anker made a GaN model and didn’t see the Kogan listing. Have read through it and as someone who tends to err towards caution, I’ll stick with brands like Anker or just the originals. Waiting for my 14” MacBook Pro to be delivered so am looking for a travel charger for it. Thanks again!

  • Will this work with a Samsung S21 Ultra? Needs 25W?

    • Yes, but no PPS. You're limited to fast charging via USB-C or standard charging via USB-A

      • What charger would you recommend for it?

        • +2

If you want super-fast charging, my recommendation is the original Samsung is from a reputable source. Otherwise, have a look at USB-C chargers with PPS posted here and make a judgement call on brand/quality/etc.

  • Will this charge my lenovo laptop? My charger is 65w so I think not, but im no expert

    • +2

the PD is only 30W, the other 30W is shared for USB-A, if your laptop requires 65W, then it wont be sufficient.

    • Short answer: no

It might work with degraded performance. It may be able to charge the battery when not in use.

  • They have a number of things on special on the anker store. If one doesn't mind a green one the 10k usb-c battery bank is $49.99 reduced from $80. https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Portable-10000mAh-Delivery-P…

  • Can i put it to powerboard instead of the wall socket. Ta.

    • Yes

  • +1

Thank you OP, perfect for my study room setup where i need one for laptop, and the USB A ports for other devices

    • +2

Check 30W is enough for your laptop!

  • +2

I am investing in a standing desk and would like to consolidate my chargers to reduce under desk clutter.

    I currently have a
    - Macbook Pro 13"
    - Anker 10W Powerwave Pad
    - Anker 10W Wireless Charging Stand

Would this charger be enough to us all three at a time?

I use an iPhone 11, 12 and Airpods. Does Quick charge even matter to me?

Also random question about AnkerAU's Amazon store - what is the difference between the Anker 10W Powerwave Pad I purchased a year an a half ago vs a slightly more expensive version that I just saw

    • No difference on the powerpads. I have bought from both listings so am 100% sure.

    • +1

      This - no.

MBP - likely OK during use, though dependent on your workload, you'd be better off with a charger that matches or exceeds the spec of the original.

For 10W wireless charging 9V-2A is required. This would be limited to 5W with 5V/2A input.

      • Cheers for replying, I thought the 30W may not be enough. I have just spend 20 mins researching chargers and think that This one from Alogic is most likely to meet my needs. The USBA ports output 5V/3.4A but tbh I use the chargers casually when I am working during the day. My iPhones and Airpods get charged every night so I realised I dont need super fast charging.

    • Note on the above and I have just gone down a deep multi port charger rabbit hole and have found that this charger from Alogic is probably going to meet my needs the best. I just need to find or wait for a good deal on it 👀

  • Thanks. Will be handy to charge my controller and headset on PS5

  • Can anyone recommend a 100W GaN charger?

  • Can this 'fast charge' multiple devices at once? For example two or threee phones?

    • +1

no, only 1 at a time.

      • Right, cheers. So no better than my current charger.

        • +1

well you can charge 4 different things slowly at the same time, while you fast charge what you need urgently. i usually use the slow chargers at night since i don't need my phone in 30 minutes.

          • @Hugh G Rection: It would probably be sufficient if, say, I had two phones plugged in at once (charging slowly) but the moment one was disconnected, the other would quick charge. Unfortunately, me current charger only has one port (QC3.0) out of four that allows quick charging, so this isn't possible for me. I have a Blitzwolf Bw-s7 40W.

  • +2

Amazon US has this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J1XTLJ6 but it's so pity that it's not available here in Amazon Aus. Have to pay over $20 for shipping which sux in my opinion and ETA till end of March or early April lol.

    • The more powerful multi-port chargers, especially from more reputable brands, are very popular.

  • What's the difference between the linked item and the one below other than price?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Charger-Powerport-Delivery-M…

  • Can I use the USB-C PD port for Nintendo Switch?

    • That's one of the reasons I purchased the Blitzwolf charger which I'm now replacing with this one. From what I've read online apparently the Switch doesn't play well with other chargers outside of the OEM one it comes with so didn't use it for my Switch. I could be wrong and would love to be corrected on this though

  • Does this have an australian approval? If it does can you please post the page where it is specified.

  • I bought this one a few days ago. It states usb c at 65w and x2 usb a at 15w. Hoping it will charge a MacBook especially when traveling (if that ever happens…)

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09FB2CZCX/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_…

  • Hi, Someone help a electronic noob out. Are these fast?

What I mean is that when you buy a power board that has 2 USB chargers, they are usually 3.5Amp shared. So when you have 2 devices connected, the charge rate would be halved.

How do those power boards compare to this dedicated units if I have 5 devices connected at once.

Or should I just use a bunch of power point to USB adapters that you get with your phones and connect it to my power board.

    Cheers!!

    • Only the top USB-C port is fast. It's not super fast if you have a device that supports PPS(eg Samsung Galaxy phones)

The rest of the ports would be standard speed.

You can find a charger with multiple posts that supports quick charge if fast charging is a requirement.

      • Only the top USB-C port is fast. It's not super fast if you have a device that supports PPS(eg Samsung Galaxy phones)

How would this unit compare with an equivalent GaN charger? I assume the latter would win hands down.

        • GaN doesn't determine charging speed, but generally speaking GaN will charge faster.

        • GAN is a technology for more compact chargers. It doesn't affect charging speed or if PPS is implemented.

    • +1

It's best to use original chargers. They have better designs and better components inside. Some people just think these multi ports are so great, but honestly, that's not the case. It requires far more effort to do multi ports really well, but most, if not all of these multi ports are glue and go, USB-C/QC chipset based charger. The reason why you often find 1 port capable of fast charge is only 1 chipset is used, so the question you need to ask is that if there is already cost saving there, are you certain there won't be other cost saving measures done elsewhere?

While Anker generally tries to do a better job than standard el cheapo ones, if you look at some of the tear down reports, there is still a gap between Anker and original. However, if you must get one that's multi-port, I guess Anker is okay (it's somewhat good that this charger is a bit conservative in terms of charging capabilities, but it is still one chipset based).

      • Didn't know any of this. Thanks. Original chargers gonna become rare now that people are starting to ship phones without them.
