@ZeeFlyingMonkey: Does that make you nervous?

        • +3

That's pretty much every society, economic political system that has ever existed!

        • +3

Funny, you've chosen to share your thoughts, as the comment box states. You think you'd be able to "share your thoughts" in any other societal system than the one you are critiquing?

Uncle Joe Hockey: The poor can't afford cars.

          • +7

@Montyjpm: Wasn't it Joe that said "The age of entitlement is over" and "The age of personal responsibility" has begun. Approx a year later Bronwyn Bishop went to a liberal party function arriving in a helicopter that she was going to charge the 5k to the taxpayer.

            • @kewlaz: And eventually lost her job. Justice served.

All politicians should be similarly held to account.

        • +1

          Da, Comrade!

        • +12

Subsidising the rich while the poor suffer, typical of a capitalists' society.

Subsidies are not part of capitalism, it is socialism.

          • -1

@1st-Amendment: Hence subsidising the rich for luxury goods and services and not creating equal means as is in socialism, or does that not fit your agenda?

            • @[Deactivated]: That is the exact end result of socialism. As 100 years of its application has shown.
As was demonstrated and known almost from the beginning of socialism’s application: all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

But I am sure it will work next time with the right people in charge.

            • @[Deactivated]: The rich are the one who pay more tax, you need to give back something !!

        • +2

Funny that buying a new car nowdays classifies you as rich.

        • +1

That would be the socialist republic of Victoria.

      • +9

        Very.

      • You have just let us know

      • Yes. Shame on Pandabargain for trying to force you to buy one.

        • +1

Yeah I have that too, every shopback failed, cashrewards have been much more reliable

  • WOW!

  • +9

Thought the base model was 60k driveaway?

      • +1

        no way

      • +22

Bullshit. There have been no recent price rises in Australia, in the last 16 months there have been 3 price changes, all were all price drops and one of those was after many states announced subsidies.

          • +12

            @jv: jv's gonna jv.

          • +6

@jv: you made the original claim and have no proof

i dont think anyone here believes you

      • +8

Absolutely false. No price increases since subsidies whatsoever.

    • Earlier they were made in USA. Now made in China…

      • +93

And it is proven the Shanghai built ones are superior in construction quality compared to the USA model 3.

        • I thought the China built ones were only for China market?

          • +5

@Circly: All Australia model 3s now come from China

Find out people, don't assume it's made in USA, I know for a fact these are all made in China

        • +7

It’s as if China is not a small country with monolothic production quality, who knew?

        • +6

Do you have a link to the proof? I am not doubting you, but when someone makes a claim like that, I am genuinely curious about how they prove these sorts things

          • +1

@GenghisGun: Youtube videos too. Many reviewed Model 3 made in China.

          • +4

@GenghisGun: Call them or ask their online chat

            These are made in China.

Surprised that they are still charging full USA built prices for a China made car

          • +3

@GenghisGun: This is a 12 month old article from Nine-Fairfax:

2021 Tesla Model 3 sold in Australia will be made in China

It was also widely reported in other media outlets. In particular the Chinese made Teslas use batteries sourced from the Chinese battery manufacturer CATL using a different battery chemistry - Lithium Iron Phosphate.

            • +2

@trongy: Lifepo4 is not bad. Lower energy density and output versus li-ion, yes. Longer lifespan, also yes. That's why 4WD people would know replacing old AGM's with Lifepo4's, not Li-ion and god forbid not Li-po

              • @plague69: Yes LiFePO4 batteries have advantages and disadvantages compared to Li-ion. I just think it's strange that a company that generates as much publicity as Tesla can make a major change in technology and it receives very little comment in the media.

                • +1

@trongy: I think they changed to LFP batteries because the LFP battery patent has been expired. It means Chinese companies could export LFP batteries abroad. I think the LFP battery is a game-changer and it will improve safety too. Previously I wasn't so keen since the range is limited due to the 80% maximum charge (70% operating capacity). With a 100% battery charge, it will increase the range significantly.

LOL talk about a low bar.

      • +23

China have better workers than US for sure.

        • +18

yep pay a chinese guy the US minimum wage and he will treat you like a king.

        • +2

China have better workers than US for sure.

Depends on the segment. China does production well, the US does R&D better.

        • +2

That's because there's no safety net in China so they can treat their workers like cattle. If they misbehave they are fired and the next schlep is waiting in line.

        • -2

          debateable.

      • +1

        And they got better lols.

      • +18

Look on the Tesla forums and the subs. No one wants the Fremont ones because they're plagued with issued. Everyone wants the Shanghai ones and they're demonstrably better.

        • +1

Thats because everyone is stoned in San Francisco since the legalised ganja

          • +1

@dogzilla: Not true! They were all stoned long before legalisation.
