Does this come with charger ?

    • Yes it comes with the standard charger (wall socket)

      • Cords are boring, are there wireless charging options?

        • +1

Then you need a very strong magnet for your magSafe

    • +2

Buy now before they only give you the cable like iPhones…

    • or you can just plug it into your laptop

    • 11kW Charger is built in. Do you mean the EVSE?

  • +1

Dumb question, can you add Full-self auto driving on afterwards? Is it just a $10k firmware update they can do at anytime or can it only be done on purchase?

    • +14

Get it off your local warez-bb site brah

      • Or alt.binaries.warez.tesla
Just make sure you get the LHS version.

        • The noobs just get it off limewire

      • link?

    • +1

Anytime, buy with the car will actually void your rebate (total price above threshold). And at the moment not much point paying for it.

      • If you don't get it, would you still have safety featuers like AEB, lane assist, adaptive cruise control like you do on normal cars?

        • Yes, the only useful feature you get from FSD is prob lane changing.

    • +6

Can be done after delivery of vehicle. It’s just a OTA update. Best to get it post delivery to avoid LCT

      • Ahh interesting.

        • We added ours after purchase to avoid LCT. Purchased Oct 2019

          • @DKZ370: And still waiting for release in "two weeks" ;)

    • +1

Yes, however it may be a 20k upgrade by the time you decided to buy it as it appears it's price as an upgrade is ever increasing.

    • The heated steering wheel is OTA upgrade so this will be too.

      • Sweet I've really been wanting that feature all summer

    • I'd try 1337x but download from Hola VPN. I saw one called telsa.update.EXE, haven't tried the file yet because I don't own a Tesla.

      • Double click on it now turns any PC into a model 3.

    • Elon mentioned on twitter this price will be increasing to $12k. Better to get in soon.

    • +1

In my opinion, auto pilot is good enough. and when you use this for road trip, you will realise how much stress it takes out from driving. A game changer of a feature that comes included.

And yes you can get FSD post delivery, with 7 days cancellation window I believe. You can "return" if you're not happy with it.

      • A "game changer" that has been fitted to many cars for over a decade (adaptive cruise control and lane guidance). You Tesla owners are funny.

        • Serious question. Have you driven both to come to this conclusion?

        • I don't own a Tesla but I wouldn't take my hands off the steering wheel with those features. In fact I've turned them off in hire cars because I also don't want to accidently jackknife the car on a freeway.

        • @tp0 I think you're confusing Autopilot with FSD (Full Self Driving). Autopilot is standard (no extra cost) and is the adaptive cruise control and lane guidance whereas FSD is the extra $10K (soon to be $12K) and includes automatic lane changing, self parking and the ability to summon the car from a parking spot. I find a lot of the criticism of Tesla is simply because of a lack of knowledge or poor journalism. But yes I wouldn't pay an extra $10k for the beta FSD in it's current form.

          • @JTTheMan: Actually my point is that Autopilot (the only autonomous functionality on a Telsa that is legal to use in Australia on public roads) is simply adaptive cruise control and lane guidance. No different to many other cars on the market. Driver assistance tools that have been available on many cars for over a decade. And yes I am also aware that it is standard.

            • @tp0: Yes, I get your point but my point is that it is different to full self driving (that no other car on the road has)

    • I believe yes you can. Also Elon announced a few days ago an increase to FSD coming soon so if you can pay the $10k before they change it you might save a couple thousand before the increase

      • +1

the increase is only in the US according to elons tweet

    • Can be done anytime. From the phone app :-)

What advantages does this motorcar have over, say, a train; which I could also afford?

    • +1

You dont get a frunk in a train

    • +10

Bruh, if you can afford a 35M train go for that option.

    • +5

You can't charge your train at home

      • You can't charge your train at home

Duh you don't need to charge a train, the network is already electrified

    • This doesn't come with COVID.

    • You can pick up your tinder date and take it all the way to 4th base on a single charge.

    • +1

Well for starters it put North Haverbrook on the map.

  • Are these rechargeable?

    • +7

Yes, but make sure you use a GaN usb-c fast charger.

    • +1

Compatible with laddas.make sure you use high capacity for longer range

  • +3

Can I shuck this for the batteries? Any comments on the batteries inside ?

  • +9

The base RWD has been $59,900 before on road costs for some months now.

    • -1

yep. they raised the price to absorb to $3,000 handout… i mean its obvious isnt it

      • Actually, $59,900 is the lowest it’s been in Australia and has been this since July 2021

      • +2

        Its obvious that you're wrong?

      • Gotta add the /s tag, you’re about to get swamped.

  • +2

    thanks op
    bought 3

Edit damn too slow by 4 minutes

  • What are their interests rates on the finance?

    • 1.99% I believe

    • +3

      It's 2.99% APR up to 7 years.

3 partner financing companies to choose from:

      • Macquarie Bank
      • Pepper Money
      • Plenti
    • 2.99% with Tesla, can choose to use either Macquarie or Pepper.

    • Depends on which way the crypto market is headed

  • +32

Why are some people so sour about Teslas? It's a great deal and it's for those people who can afford an EV. If you are not interested, then stay in your Hyundai/KIA/NISSAN lane.

    • +9

      This

        • +1

Ruins the weekend too! I hate progress!

        • +6

You’re stuck in Murdoch media talking points. I bought mine because of its double wishbone front suspension, multilink rear suspension, low centre of gravity, cool tech, no servicing, quiet driving, wild acceleration and being able to charge at home.

It’s just an awesome daily driver, green credentialism played no part in my purchase.

          • +4

@Dogsrule: This. M3P is the best car i have ever driven. I have had 2.0L turbo VWs, 4.2L V8 Audis, 6L V8 Holdens even, and I will never go back to ICE cars. They are slow, noisy, rough and I have to put petrol in them every week.

I have to say that green ideals did factor into my decision (my car gets fed almost 100% of its electricity from solar PV), but it was not my main reason for getting a Tesla.

            • @dtpearson: Nice, I have a M3 LR with Acceleration Boost, so I get what you mean. I have no ideological objections to ICE cars, I just reckon they are slow, noisy and require too much maintenance just as you said. The one 'green' thing I appreciate about EV's is their lack of tailpipe emissions. Nobody but the most boneheaded people will miss breathing in toxic exhaust fumes.

    • +1

      Who is?

    • -5

Why are some people so sour about Teslas?

      this…

      • Ok Boomer

        • +1

          No worries Zoomer

    • +2

Since buying my Tesla, I’ve noticed that people don’t let me merge, and they get dangerously close to me when overtaking. It’s like I’m attacking their way of life or something. No different to a meat eater bullying a vegan I guess.

      • +2

Why did you let em overtake? ARe they driving a Porche taycan or something??

        • I mainly use autopilot on my way to work and it leaves a bit of a gap with the car in front.

          • -1

            @DryScissors:

            I mainly use autopilot

This is why they do it. Because they can and they know your cuck-mobile will force you to give way XD

      • -7

Mummy, they're being mean to me.

I think I saw you on South Park.

I mean, I think you've demonstrated his point quite succinctly.

      • Wow thats interesting, I havent noticed any differenace. I probably will now I start thinking about it. lol.

    • MG phool. Nissan leaf is frikin $55k for a cruddy car.

      • New long range is atleast decent if imported from Japan for 45k, ironically the long range is faster then the nismo version.

    • They are batteryists

    • Its a bit like why some people hate Apple. Most of their products are white and used by people who think they are superior.

This most likely is not true but you try telling the haters out there.

      • +2

for 90% of Australian users, most Apple Products will be superior. Also they aren't white ;-)

    • I refused to believe this was real but I think I have to agree. A family member who has a LR got 3 dents on two doors in 4 months by people pushing shopping trolleys or opening their doors. Her previous car which was a WRX didn't get damaged not even once even though it was parked at the same spot at work every day for over a year.

      • +1

Tell him to turn on Sentry Mode.

        • What does sentry mode do? Shoot the trolley that’s hurtling towards the car?

          • @cloudy: Well it would certainly help answer the question about whether it was deliberate or an accident.

            • @Grok: I mean, all you will have, possibly, is a video of the person who did it. But you can’t do much with such footage right, not like the cops will take it and run facial recognition and identify the person and give you the details for insurance right?

              It just seems so useless.

              • @cloudy: Many accidental or deliberate damage perpetrators have been identified with sentry mode. It has become quite a thing online.

It’s hardly useless, it’s a super dashcam and it’s free.

Why are you so critical? It’s basically a system that is an offshoot of the self driving system. Latest rumours suggest an imminent camera resolution upgrade is coming.

                • @Grok: I’m not critical, I’m curious as to how sentry mode can identify individuals. And it seems you mount a case of it’s been done before trust me.

Edit: so I found one case where the person keying the Tesla parked right next to it so the camera also caught the rego of the car. But other than that, I think the shopping trolleys by randoms or haters can’t be stopped

                  • @cloudy: Jeese you didn’t look very hard. There are video compilations and stories everywhere.

Sentry mode even warns you of a proximity event.

I don’t own a Tesla, yet but I have driven an SR+ extensively. I was blown away for a $60k car. It’s as quick as a WRX, much better responsiveness in traffic. Unbeatable actually. They need little maintenance.

You will not believe the visual telemetry you see about your surroundings when in traffic. Unbelievable, it sees everything.

My mate has owned one going on two years and spent nothing on it. It’s still worth pretty much what he paid for it.

                    Whats to hate?

Previous he and other mates have owned euro cars that cost $60-$70k new and sometimes could not give them away at the end of 4-5 years. Often they only got $15 - $20k.

                    • @Grok: I can appreciate it’s a good car, plenty of good reviews.

But the point webstep raised, and you replied to and I’m replying to, is that you have a group of haters of Tesla who see your car and want to scratch it.

Now, no matter how nice your car is if you’re too worried to drive it around because of this it’s a problem. Or if you’re not worried because you have sentry mode I don’t see how sentry mode helps you catch and recoup the cost to fix( other than a few niche examples).

Also, given the RRP has dropped like 5 times in 2 years I’m surprised how someone who bought new 2 yrs ago can make that claim. Maybe if they tried selling it they’ll realise they will only get 63k (todays rrp) minus 10k.

    • -1

i think it is because many tesla owners behaves like members of cult which is really annoying.

      • Totally. They wave and honk at each other specially on country towns and roads, not so much in the CBD and suburbs where every second car seems to be a model 3.
