Got burned by a recent Amazon RAM deal and found this when searching for a replacement.
Some very high latency RAM at a reasonable price for those budget builds.

In the majority of applications (especially gaming), you'd be much better off with 2*8GB of fast low latency ram than a single, high latency stick.

Definitely worth the extra for dual channel (2x16GB) and dual rank if you can identify it. I'd target a latency of C18 or lower.

Above all check what your CPU / Motherboard supports. Unless you plan to overclock, buying faster RAM is pointless / can be detrimental to performance.

How to Choose the Right Memory: A 2020 Guide to RAM is worth a read.

      • Agreed, except… detrimental??
How can fast ram be detrimental to performance?

        • From the link:

Don’t pay for clock speeds your system doesn’t support. Memory speed is limited, particularly with some low-end and mainstream Intel CPUs and chipsets. So if, for instance, your system only supports 2,666MHz, there’s no point in buying RAM that’s rated for 3,600. You won’t be able to achieve the higher speed, and may wind up stuck at an even lower fallback speed. Check the motherboard manufacturer’s specifications for supported speeds and buy accordingly.

          And for AMD Ryzen:

By default, the memory controller of X570 motherboards switches to half-speed and the “Infinity Fabric” interface to an unsynchronized ratio when exceeding DDR4-3600 speeds.

Now if you overclock, the rules change. What is FCLK Frequency? provides a useful primer.

    Cl22…in 2022….

    • wait until 2099

      CL22 is great……… on DDR5

      Yeah… what a joke.
Didn't realise CL22 DDR4 was a thing outside of fast SODIMMs

    CL22, that's horiffic at that speed 😵

    • "That's fast!"

      said a tortoise.

Same here, DHL managed to lose my ram in shipping from the US. Would prefer dual channel that is at least cl16.

  • I'm still waiting for my mouse click to register.

3200Mhz CL22 @ 1.2V is actually not bad - the question is whether they can run @ 1.35V with more typical CL16/18 timings. For builds focused on pure RAM size, this is a good deal

      I was just thinking that.

All these people calling it slow. However, without emptying your wallet, you wont get much better at 1.2v. Exceptions pop up from time to time of course.

1.4v has proven a good ceiling for most memory controllers; if it doesnt hit cl18 at 3400mhz I'd be surprised.

4 sticks good for 128gb ram to open more chrome tabs

    • Try Vivaldi.

Made by the original Opera team, but based on a chromium engine now.

      489 tabs open, using 10-12GB.

  • $80 more for 3200 16-18-18-38. Local stock

    • Misleading comparison though; because thats 1.35v ram.

Likely better as you say, most systems are happy as larry at 1.35v; but if you have need for 1.2v, its an unknown performer.
