I've saw this one on ebay, and I dont think it will work for high humidity region, such as QLD. Personally, i don't recommend to buy any Evaporative Air Cooler under 20L, unless you put all ice into the water tray. For my experence, all this kind of cooler is noisy from their water pump if you put in door (whatever size is the same noise level). :D

Devanti has got so much negative reviews on their portable air-conditioner, mainly is not cool enough, easy to broken down, bad service, design and made in china. I avoided the portable one and this Evaporative type is in a bargain price.

60L, $224, 5000 m³/h, model 2
45L, $174, 2000 m³/h, model 1

There is also other brand Maxkon and Carson (looks like the same design from other big sellers)

Maxkon, 45L, $260, 5000 m³/h
Carson, 55L, $192, 3000 m³/h

Enjoy the hot summer day :D

  • How do these evaporative coolers compare to a bucket of ice + fan?

    • Or an evaporative bucket of wet sand!

    • depending on the size of your bucket and how many people in the room, i've tried 5 kg ice ($3.25/bag) and you need at lease 1 bags per person in a 3x3m room (human really generate heat), ice bag gone in 1 hour at 35 degree outside, and i keep replacing ice until i ran out of cash in my pocket. :)

      • You make it sound as if evaporative coolers don't need ice too

        • Sorry for the confusion, i do put ice before, it is costly and the blow out air form moisture easily compare to just put tap water (about >25 degree), what im doing now is to change a tank of water about half day at 30-40 dgree day will cost less than adding ice in, i think it is better to let water in and out constantly. Those air cooler have so much re-engineer potential. :D

  • unless you put all ice into the water tray

That's absolutely not how evaporative coolers work

    • That is all i can do in the workshop between 30-45 degree and humidity is 30-40%. What do you do?

  • i bought this 10 days ago and received it yesterday, here's my review:

In terms of build quality you get what you pay for…on the top ice tray it looks like there is a burn mark (not sure how it got there since it should be new), and the swing function didn't work initially (there is a fin that is bent and popped out slightly so I opened the side panel and popped it back in.

But once set up the fan is actually quite powerful, it is the 60L model so larger fan and larger honeycomb area for water to drain on, the ION function seems like BS because when I opened the side panel and looked inside it looks like a simple cheap design, turning on the cool function activates the water pump but there is a 5-10 sec lag before the fan kicks in.

In comparison I have been using a 60L Honeywell evaporative cooler for the past 4 years without any issues, the build quality of the Honeywell is much better (stainless steel fan vs plastic on the Devanti, and better quality water pump design). For this price I would say it's worth it, the fan is as powerful as the Honeywell for 1/3 of the price, and it shares similar concept, design and size…build quality isn't great so we'll see if the Devanti is still working after 4 years

    • i have concern about the honeycomb (cooling pack) area, usually cheap one will have smaller or inefficient one. as I use Conair and other brand before, Conair is great, but other brand use thinner honeycomb.

  • Long wait, finally, my 60L has arrived.

The following information are the sales person cannot answer before i purchase it, for all ya reference.

It has dust filters, it's not for woodworking, just those normal air-con filter.

Battery for remote is not included. (a bit disappointed)

Material: Full body plastic (don't know which type), including the leg (i think it is metal from the photo). The part non-plastic are all the wheels, the motor the pump, and all screws.

The plastic mod quality: there are gaps at the back which is not fully connect 2 parts and the plastic is soft type - like those orange/green plastic flower pot type.

Cooling pack: about 3.5-4cm thick at the back ( i didn't measure the sides).

Power consumption: base on fan speed is 130w, 150w, 200w
Noise level (on top of the machine, not attached, not face the fan) : 75db, 79db and 83db

    Mode:
Turn on sleep mode is on highest speed on my machine, it is louder than other speed. (not making any sense)
Turn on ioniser mode is working at the background, but i cannot verify it is working or not.
    Timer is working ok.
Press Cool mode, it will stop the whole system for a while, when you turn it off, cool mode light still on, then it will auto turns back into cool mode. (not making any sense)
Wind mode only provide winds (cool mode off), the pump stop pumping water. working ok.

    Efficiency- outdoor
Out door temperature is 34 degree today, the water without ice is about 25 degree, the wind from the machine is 27 degree.

    Efficiency- indoor
In door temperature is 32 degree, the water without ice is about 25 degree, the wind from the machine is 26 degree, create a 65% humidity when door is open.

I will consider only at this price point. :)
