The card is really hot, I have 3070ti this version and memory always over 100 degrees. Need to consider cooling issue before buy this 80ti

    • I think all 3080 ti and 3090 runs hot. My 3080 ti vram easily go beyond 90 if my fan is not atleast 70%…and I heard 3090 constantly go beyond 95

      • +1

        I own 2x MSI 3080Ti's (Gaming X trio & Supreme X), and neither overheat.

I did own a GB 3080Ti whose RAM temps easily reached/exceeded 100c (saw 105+ playing games).

Ram temps after a few hours of gaming (for e.g. playing God of War) is in mid 80's. Max operating temp for GDDR6x is 115c.

GPU temps mid 70's playing the same (auto fan curve).

        • -1

          you a miner bruh?

        • Gainward from techfast at $2288 was better as the temp only 60c at max load and vram only hovers at 90c. Fan around 70%. This is gaming at 2k max settings not mining.

      • +2

3090s run hot because half the memory is on the back of the PCB, so it can only be passively cooled by the backplate, which is really just a terrible card design by Ngreedia.
If a 3080 Ti is running hot, it's because of poor memory contact with the heatsink, poor thermal pads, or both. Basically, the AIB partner either cheaped out or didn't make a very good cooler.

    • +1

Yep, Zotac/GB is renowned for giving crap thermal pads. However I’ve heard GB have upped their game

      • I have the Zotac 3080 (not Ti) Trinity from PLE

It doesn't overheat during several hours of gaming at 3840 x 1600 with high or ultra settings.

That's not to say it doesnt get hot, but it doesnt go over 90 degrees….

A lot of people blame their cards for overheating when the real issue is their cases have inadequate ventilation and cooling….

        • True, but sadly my zotac 3070ti 3 fan constantly runs mem temp over 100’c with stacks of case fans. I took the side off the case and blow a box fan directly onto it now. The fan shroud also vibrates against the heat sink at times. Overall a sh$ty card but this is still a great price.

          • @jason101: What program you using to check vram temps?

I’ll test on my amp holo 3070ti

        • Your confusing die temps with memory junction temps, these are not the same thing.
Also, if you're gaming you're highly unlikely to be utilising all the VRAM anyway, especially at that resolution. It's mainly an issue for workloads and crypto mining.

          • -1

@iseeyou1312: Eth mining only uses 8gb vram, unless ur dual mining at 12gb.

    • Could you undervolt it to reduce the temperature a bit?

    • I have this in the non-ti version and I've had no issues at all with overheating, in fact it stays relatively cool.

  • -1

Gamers are saying hold because GPUs are getting cheaper. Is it?

    • Somewhat… At the moment mining profit is down so if that continues then it'll definitely have an impact in the market.. Especially if the miners unload used cards in to the market..

      • +2

The hash rate just hit ATH a few days ago.

Hash rate ATH = more miners.

Miners are mining more and hodl both coins and the GPUs.

        • More ASICs and GPUs mining simply means lower profits for miners.

          • @iseeyou1312: Higher hash rates mean fewer blocks per miner over a 24hr period, not lower profit. They're not selling.

            • @rektrading: Fewer blocks at 5-10% lower every few months, if price doubled then more profit in terms of dollar value.

              • @[Deactivated]: There is no profit if they don't sell.

                Let's put it this way.

I'm mining gold. I can mine 1kg gold every day for one month which works out to be 30kg. I've 30kg of gold and choose to hodl. How much profit have I made?

                • @rektrading: Paper profit hence they said lol.

                • @rektrading: Your explanation whilst correct doesn’t cover for the opposite - e.g. what happens if the hashrate is so high now you’re only mining .3kg per month… do you recognise a loss? Whether in hard cash or intrinsic, you have to, quit trying to steer around it.

                  • @aaronmr: A profit or loss can is only realised when the asset is sold.

This is pretty basic tax accounting.

                    • @rektrading: Yes, and we hope we can sell it when BTC hits USD$100k either this year or next year.

                      • @[Deactivated]: I prefer a slow grind to up to the right. The price will be more stable the longer it takes.

    • it should get cheaper, 40 series are set to announced in 6 months.

      • +3

4080 can be $4k if eth pos gets delayed and can mine twice faster than 3080.

        • +1

This. I bet the ETH POS will be delayed again, and the same old cycle repeats.

          • -1

@deadpoet: Amen to that, I'd like it to keep going on forever. Another stream of income free from regulations and the grasped of elite 1% wealth hoarder.

  • +18

    On sale @ $2299 lol

    Get outta here bro!

  • +14

    Hold coz still can't afford

    • +1

Sell things you don't need to buy what you want.

      • +14

Was thinking of selling my computer, but where am I going to stick this in?

    • +10

Can afford but still hold, coz paying at this price will make me feel like a loser.

  • This post make me confused about why Nvidia released RTX 3080 12G.

    • +7

Create a new SKU with a much higher MSRP than the original 3080 at launch, this way they capture more of the inflated prices over AIBS, retail sectors and scalpers….

    • +2

NGreedia & partners continually raising prices (via new SKU's) to correct the disastrous pricing decisions made, when they released the original 3080.

      • +1

The 3080 always launched with a fake MSRP, but the 3080 Ti and 3080 12GB are simply to take profits away from further down the supply chain and scalpers, due to inflated prices caused by crypto mining.

  • +1

looks like they're slowly headed back to MSRP, this is the second 3080Ti to go this low https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680054

  • +5

Undervolting and adjusting the boost clock is the way to go with these types of high power GPUs. They are normally of good silicon. I have my EVGA 3070Ti FTW3 undervolted to 0.95V which reduced its max power draw from 290W to 260W, and at the same time increasing the boost clock from 1860 to 2070 without much effort. Used MSI Afterburner and there are a plenty of video's in YouTube on how to do it.

    • No such thing as a Samsung 8nm card being good silicon.

    • +2

my 3070ti zotac amp holo is a silicon gem!

      2000mhz core .825mv

Max 220watts gaming is around 180ish watts

temps dropped by 10c+ 55-60c depending on ambient

      It’s a beast!

  • +7

People are voting for this deal, but no one is buying it.

    • +4

I suspect the majority of people who desperately wanted a $2000 Nvidia 3080 or 3080ti have already gotten them - they are not as hard to find as they were a year ago.

    • -3

People who upvoted are either GPU resellers, scalpers, or those who couldn't hold and paid much higher price last year and now feeling salty the price is slowly coming down.

      • -1

People who upvote is the clever one, either miner or gamer that do part time mining to get their GPU free or discounted from mining revenue.

The sour grapes are the ones waiting 3080 to drop to $800, and still using integrated graphics, and didn't buy when 3080 was still at $1139.

  • +2

Getting sick of my 6900xt lc xtxh. Having issues with dx11 games textures going black. Stuttering in too many games. Want to swap over to a 3080 or 3080ti

    • I know what you mean, I have some minor issues with the AMD card when I used to own the 5700XT, their driver and software are glitchy and the layout interface is hard to navigate and confusing, one issue is Chrome goes black screen for some reason, I think they've fixed it.
Anyway, my next upgrade is an Nvidia card.

    • Radeons are multi threaded
It's the crappy Dx11 games that you play. Blame Microsoft it was fixed in Dx12.
Nvidia still has issues with Dx11 they just have more resources to smooth out the rough edges.

There are work arounds with Dx11 with Radeons, using Dxvk a Vulkan-based translation layer for Direct3D 9/10/11

It fixed GTA The Definitive Edition for me
      ..

      • Car A has good suspension for any type of road.

Car B has mediocre suspension for any type of road but runs really efficient on perfectly laid roads.

If you're frequently travelling across many types of roads and still end up buying car B, blaming the government for bad roads is silly.

  • +1

lmao seeing this as my zotac 3080ti amp holo is currently in rma at scorptec…

    • -4

What happened? Did you mine with it and broke it?

      • +1

nah it was crashing at stock settings out of the box

might as well have got this and saved $100 given it can’t even run at its advertised clock speed

  • Bought one ! Thanks OP 😘

  • Disappointing that top end GPUs are now $2K

I bought my 1080TI for $1100 and that was already too expensive

    • Ebay 2nd hand 1080ti prices were $900 last time I checked so not a bad investment even at $1100…

  • +3

If you're going to drop 2k+ on a graphics card you may as well pay a couple hundred more for an ASUS/EVGA model imo

    • True ozbargainer will scrap and scrounge every dollar they can save, this is not ozTheBestBangForTheBuck.

      • +3

This site stopped being about bargains years ago though

    • Or MSi/Gigabyte

    • It’s more a thousand than a couple of hundred though

  • Evga is about $250 more when they have it. Msi and the other brands are selling for a lot higher.

  • This or 6900 XT?

    • This. look at bart2 comment above.
