[Price Error, NSW] 10x $1.10 Stamps ($11 Value) for $2.50 from Vending Machine @ Australia Post Business Hub, Alexandria

7010

Vending machine has been incorrectly programmed. Option 604 is giving out $11 worth of stamps for $2.50!

There are PLENTY of stamps in this machine. The foyer is open 24/7 so come on down and say hi to me in the little red car (I wanna see some real life OzB drama for entertainment in my free time)

Follow the chaos live here:
https://youtu.be/qy8GKzRmpkg

Update the following day: https://youtu.be/Al6hT11k1dE

Tl;dr - they switched off the vending machine after re-stocking it with the correct product, lol. Possibly a nationwide memo from head office to switch these things off, lol

        • +26

Nah I don't need more stamps lol, I bought $7.50 worth (even got a lucky double vend! So $44 worth of stamps) and theres plenty more left in there

          • +1

            @mubd1234:

Nah I don't need more stamps

You realise that this is like free money? Not sure if it's still policy, but Auspost used to buy back unused stamps for 90% of face value. So you could've emptied the machine and made 400% on your investment.

      • +1

With 44 up votes already, there must be a party down there…

      • Could you buy some for me please? I'm in Victoria..more than happy to paypal/pay ID you šŸ™

  • +2

Ok everyone, see you there in about 20 minutes.

  • +11

I'm early, but as a teenager, I've never used stamps in my life, so I have no use for this :/

    • +1

Yeah you do, you can use it to send parcels as well

  • Cannot wait to watch this controversy unfold

    • +3

How about you cart-ier self away, with comments like that.

  • +12

About time australia post had some reasonable prices again.

  • -3

Not a Sydneysider, but stamps are legal tender.

    • +40

Yeah try and pay for a schooner with them and let me know how that goes

    • +5

They are legal tender only for postage services in Australia.

      • +1

How does that work practically? Can I trade my $11 stamps to get an express postage bag?

        • +1

Only the postage part of the service, you cannot buy Prepaid Satchels, pay for Signature Required or Insurance with these stamps

          • +1

            @[Deactivated]: What? ELI5 plz

            • @Homr: you can't trade in your stamps but you can use it for standard post for letters and standard and express post by making it up in postage.

          • @[Deactivated]: I've paid for both signature, was called registered post, and insurance with stamps.

            • @[Deactivated]: They didn't let me at my post office but they are new franchisees

              • @[Deactivated]: I guess it depends on the place. Mine never had a problem with it. Signature seems to mean nothing these days though. They just "safe drop" it anyway, and don't even knock or ring the bell.

    • +6

      but stamps are legal tender.

      No they aren't.
      This is legal tender https://www.banknotes.rba.gov.au/legal/legal-tender/

  • How does stamp taste like

    • +10

Sadly these ones are self adhesive but with the koala on the front I'd probably say Eucalyptus

      • +2

        Koalas donā€™t taste like eucalyptus.

        • +1

But you are what you eat right?

        • Are you certain? And if so, please tell.

  • +14

Quick someone call scotty so he can hand out OzBargain shirts. It can be the Auspost Official OzBargain meetup.

  • +6

Firing up my 7/11 chopper to get there

  • +1

Only if I can use them… Don't even remember the last time I had used stamps

    • +7

Lol I just came in to buy stamps to send one letter and walked out with $44 worth

      • Now you can send letter and stamps lolx.

      • you should put 10 stamps on 1 letter just to flex

  • +5

I have no use for stamps but just want to use this vending machine because it looks so much more fun than having to wait for a surly desk operator to stop their "important conversation" with another colleague.

  • +10

Update @10pm : two parcel locker customers have come and gone, stamps are still here tho!

    • +4

      Are you guarding it?

      • +1

        I'm people-watching!
And still no people! I thought OzB was much more responsive than this!

        • +1

          Could be increased fuel prices.

  • -3

Are the stamps individually numbered? If they are they can track you down.

    • +8

Don't think they will for $8.5 of stamps you didn't pay for

      • But you did pay for them.
You got them at a discounted price.

        • $11-$2.50=$8.50 of unpaid stamps

          • +3

@[Deactivated]: 10x stamps for $2.50 is 25 cents per stamp.

That's about an 80% discount from face value.

No stamps are unpaid as the machine sold 10 at an 80% discount for a total of $2.50

Or does your logic mean that this deal you posted means everyone who made a purchase still owes Officeworks $9.05 per bottle and that 91% of the bottle is unpaid for?
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/677865
