  • I have the TUF 6900XT, great card. Nice cooler, decent quality unit.

Have you tried playing dying light 2 with ray tracing enabled?

      • Highly recommend Nvidia, my experience with Ray tracing and DLSS went from 50-60 frames to 80-100 frames and there is almost no fidelity loss.

        • Yep. Saw the comparisons online between amd and nvidia and it was like night and day (with ray tracing on). I think a 3080 within $200 of the 6800xt price is worth it.

          • +7

@mordinhoz: until you play vr stuff, 10GB vram is just insulting tbh by nividia. 3080 need at least 16g as well given its position.

            • -2

@Hornpub: Haven't thought about VR until….you just mentioned it lol. No joke. That's how much I care about VR.

Well it is right? This deal here.

Don't even bother.. I have an RX6800XT and can play 100+ fps on ultra 1440p. Enable Ray tracing and it drops to around 30.. I don't see the big deal anyway to me it looks heaps good without it enabled.

        • +1

I think the argument between AMD and nvidia cards prices basically boils down to whether you care about raytracing, and whether you will pay the premium for better performance when raytracing is enabled.

          • @FasterLad: Or if you foolishly bought an expensive G-SYNC monitor and are committed to green now. FML.

    HODL!?

  • Nice price but sure still have space to drop more

    • not if crypto price didn't drop further.

  • +1

Crypto going back up better buy at this price

    • -1

Excellent. I just my bought my 6800xt red devil for 1.8k. I'd be pissed if GPU prices dropped now. Lol

    • +2

I have seen this happen before, it will go back up to lure more people in, and will crash again.
      Be patient, HODL.

      • +1

Exactly how all financial markets work. This guy stonks.

      • …of course people need to be lured in… how else will people cash out to buy actual assets?

    • Yes crypto price being manipulated back up again (not from demand/capital inflow)…

Been using a reference 6800xt since release, can definitely vouch for the card, very good performance. I play competitive shooter games, hence I won't use DLSS (make my game blurry even with quality setting), nor Ray Tracing. Color profile seems visually better than Nvidia for some reason.

The only thing I miss from Nvidia is reshade filters for adjusting game contrast/brightness on shader level, so darker room will be brighten for me to see enemy easier.

Not to mention I can have perfect Hackintosh with 6800xt.

    • +3

same, got 3080 long ago yet played a single RTX/DLSS game. only plays competitive fps, feel like AMD is better choice here.

      • if you're into competitive fps you'd be playing with ultra low settings to max fps. you might as well save your money and go for a mid range card.

        • ultra low setting is meant for higher fps, so is a better GPU.

    • I can't notice the difference with DLSS Quality on at 1440p, it's definitely not blurrier at all, it's just free performance. Though it probably depends on the game, or if the game uses the original DLSS which was very blurry.

      • I think my game (CoD Warzone) is using original DLSS.

What is the difference between MSI Gaming Z Trio and X Trio. They looks identical.

    • +2

I believe the z has a higher factory overclock? That's about it

    • +1

      20MHz higher and 3 x 8pin

      • Wait it has less tdp than my 3080 but more pins?

        • Look at all those AMD motherboards with 8+4 pin or even 8+8 pin CPU ESP connector, per 8 pin can handle a bit more than 300w+, and the max power draw of a 5950x using Air/Water in ambient room temp, is about less than 250w.

  • +1

for this price, I prefer a XBX

    • If XBX had windows lite with office apps for school kids it would be amazing

      • -2

Pretty irrelevant, most schools ensure each child has a suitable laptop as base requirements to do the curriculum….

        • They give the kids laptops now?

          • @Casomme: Nope, you need to buy them.

            • @Dvbargain: If xbox had everything they needed then they wouldn't need to buy them

              • @Casomme: Can't take your xbox to school mate……..

                • +1

@Dvbargain: You are telling me kids At public schools are made to buy laptops to take to school?

                  • -1

@Casomme: Google will answer this better than I.

                    • +1

@Dvbargain: Answer is no. Also most don't take em to school. I still think xbox should have basic programs like word and a browser on their store to allow them to be used as a basic pc.

I just got one, I prefer PC gaming but the price to performance ratio cannot be beaten on consoles. Got a PS5 and XBSX with Game Pass, other than Total War, I can get all the games I want on these and get decent visuals too.

  • I purchased the MSI gaming X rx 6700 xt for $1000 runs a little hot at 4k gaming. Overall at that price great card.

  • +1

I can guarantee prices will drop even more. I work for an IT disti and we are currently overstocked with so many gpu's, when not too long ago it was so hard to get stock.

    • +1

If thats true, better hold on longer, and hopefully prebuilt prices will also come down too!
