@sween64: The first part of the post says "Got this in the mailbox." So unless ABB mail drop their employees, I'm going to go with no?

        • +2

no I am not, i was replying to someone and i accidentally clicked i am associated and posted it. after that i was unable to uncheck it, because it made the associated as thread poster too, i had to unpublish the comment and ask mods to remove it from main post as well/

    • If you have FTTP, then it gets activated on the next port. What I do is activate the service a few days before renewal and cancel my current plan when it's done.

      Don't know about churning.

  • For anyone wanting to maximize their freebies, ABB let you order at a future date. No idea about about Dodo, since I haven't tried to sign up with them yet.

    • +1

      Dodo allow future orders too

      • +2

Good to know. Should be easy to maximize the freebies then. Since ABB only allow you to be "new" every six months, then it's better to use them first if you can.

        • Yeah, I went to use Aussie's last promo on the 1st of Feb but it expired the day before. So now on Dodo until the month is out lol

    • Anyone know if Superloop allow future orders?

      • +2

Most definitely will. You can set a future connection date.

    • I had experience when switching from SL to Tangarine where I specified a day and it connected immediately.

  • +1

Never any deals for existing customers 🤔

    • +2

that's why you churn, go to another ISP and take advantage of sign up offers

    • There was that NBN promo that gave existing customers an upgrade for six months to gigabit.

      • +1

That came from NBN though, ABB just implemented it.

    • Business 101.

  • I am going to try this out. Moving from Superloop, which has been great.

  • How easy is it to cancel an ABB plan? one month notice? will churning automatically cancel?

    • +2

Easy (just churn to someone else). No, no notice required. Yes (but call to double check after new connection).

On HFC I recently moved to Launtel, scheduled it for midnight, happened in minutes, and woke up the next morning to an automated pro-rata refund from ABB.

      • Sweet as, might use the free month and then churn to SL. ABB prices are significantly higher than others.

    • +3

Abb also will refund you prorata too. They’re one of the best to deal with regarding cancellations.

  • Tempting, but I'm still on the More 30% discount. They've been pretty good for the most part, had some trouble signing up but it's been fast and reliable since then.

  • +3

If you like to game, check your POI CVC graph here https://abb-cvc.io/

If you see it getting close to the red line, you may have latency issues. If you see it touch the red line expect packetloss as well. It's been over year since I left ABB and it seems nothing has changed, my POI gets hammered every night during peak hours

  • +2

    They are way too expensive!!

    • Not if you're really rich.

    • -1

You get what you pay for.

      • a bargain in Oz ?

  • So I've just switched across to ABB from Superloop an hour ago and I can honestly say that upload speeds are crap on ABB compared to Superloop. I'm on 100/40 FTTN and with SL I was always getting 37Mbps and now with ABB I'm getting 24Mbps.

I actually think SL is better where I live so I'll get my free month and churn next billing cycle.

    Pretty disappointing!

    Holy Hell…. I just called support and it's a 95 minute wait!
    WTF!

    • Wow, that's a whole 4hrs faster than a typical Optus hold. Impressive.

    • -2

with SL I was always getting 37Mbps and now with ABB I'm getting 24Mbps.

      First world problems.

    • One can press #1 and have them call you back. It will take a while though (45mins earlier) but better than sitting on hold.
Other Option is Live Chat which apparently is a different queue? https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/help-centre/livechat

    • They hide it, but you have exactly what you've paid for. ABB doesn't offer the 100/40 plan, only 100/20.

      • ABB doesn't offer the 100/40 plan

Yes they do, $109 per month.

  • I'm looking at signing up with either superloop or tangerine, does anyone have experience with either company? Looking at the $54.95 plans.
Sorry I know this is off topic but hoping someone can help me as I have no understanding of nbn internet lol

    • +1

Superloop is on par with Aussie

    • Tangerine is not good on where I am now. Internet keeps dropping out. I'm currently on XL plan and will try to move to this ABB promo

  • +4

Man I wish ABB was cheaper. I know they are good but they are $25 more expensive per month for my 100/20 connection than mate. Just not worth it.

  • You can get the first month free anytime with the code "MOVING"

    • with which provider?

      • Aussie Broadband - the one this thread is in relation to

        • People are saying it has expired. It also doesn't apply to gigabit. This one is currently active.

  • To be frank isnt ABB been doing 1 month free ?

    • Have you read the tittle of this thread?

    • If you're asking if they're always giving away free months, yes, pretty much always.

  • +1

Anyone else getting "Promo/referral code invalid" ?

    • try refreshing the page, happened to me a couple of times before i was able to apply it

      • Had the same issue, but I suspect it's because ABB systems detect if you are a previous customer (i.e. had active service within last ~ six months) based on your address. I wanted to switch back from Superloop who I've been with for the past 6 months, but I would need to wait until this billing period has switched over. the code definitely works if I try my neighbours address, so I'm pretty sure it's due to that.

  • +1

Man, I'm going to have to start switching every 6 months, they never do anything for existing customers.

  • Fairly new to NBN, with telstra right now, if i sign up to this, does it automatically cancel my sub with Telstra?

    • +1

yes - unless you set a date in the future when you want them to connect. my current connection (20$ off for six months) with Superloop ends 06/03 so thats when im switching

      • So if your billing cycle has an end date of 06/03, do you sign up to the other company on the 05/03 to avoid having to pay another invoice? The actual churn takes a few mins, right?

        • +1

I just gave myself 2 days grace for my next churn from SL to ABB on the 9th March and my SL will end on the 11th. Called SL 3 weeks out to confirm my cancellation and everything is set for a smooth transition hopefully!

  • Switched to ABB 100/20 plan and currently getting 10-15mbps… also a 36 minute wait to talk to customer service / technical support.. Tbh preferring SL atm

  • Promo/referral code invalid

    • I called CC to apply the promotion manually. It wasn't working for my property. Even though I never had ABB connection before.

  • Not sure why it's marked expired. Still valid as of today 28 Feb. Just signed up myself.

    • removed expiry, not a mod, but apparently as OP i can update it. also image i uploaded says 31/03 probably the guy who tried it got the same error as i did "invalid code" gotta try a couple of times before system accepts it

  • I cant seem to get the code to work. But i am on Origin Broadband which is running off Aussie BB so i guess it is expected.

    • I am currently on Origin NBN too and could not get the code to work with the online order process. I called up the sales team and they were able to apply the free month for me and scheduled to connect at a later date.

  • Does anyone know if I cancel my pre-order with ABB and sign up for the [Origin deal[(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/685867) I'll still be able to get this deal afterwards?

  • I pay $90 pm to Optus BB for
    50 Down / 10 Up (unlimited)
    Fetch Mighty Box
    Fetch Optus Sport
    Knowledge Channel Pack
    4G Backup

Can't seem to find anything that can beat that consistently.

  • AUSSIESPEED code is still working
