Yes, you can still use the hard wired button.

  • Thanks OP, got 2

    These should be $10.

  • I have a Chamberlain CS60 Evo

It's compatible without an accessory according to the compatibility list

Page 5 of this Chamberlain manual shows the wiring diagram

    http://motepro.com.au/Manuals/Chamberlain/Sectional/PowerLif…

Where do I plug the Meross into?

Ports 0,1, 4 and 5 are already used on the Chamberlain

Does the Meross plug into the 30Vdc ports?

EDIT - Having watched some youtube videos I think I can answer my own questions!

The Meross receives it's power via a USB cord that plugs into a USB charger. You plug that charger into an AC outlet (likely the same one your garage door opener is plugged into).

The Meross cables for the door opener plug into exactly the same place as your existing hardwired door open button does. So instead of just 1 wire in each of those ports on your opener, once this is installed you'll have 2 wires in each of those hardwire ports on your opener.

  • Any assistance with understanding what HomeKit is and how this works.

Simply put, we’ve got Google Homes in the house.
    iPhones
A new car with apple CarPlay if that makes a difference.

How will we open the garage with out remote? Do we speak to siri? Or need google home app to speak to it?

    • Homekit is Apple's version of Google Home. You need a HomeKit hub though just like you would an Alexa (for Amazon Home) or a Google Nest/hub thing. In the case of Apple HomeKit you need to have an Apple HomePod mini or the latest gen Apple TV, and these are always on and connected to your home wifi our wired router.

You can trigger commands on your HomeKit devices with Siri, or with the Home app on your iPhone. For this (and any other HomeKit compatible) garage opener, if you have CarPlay running on your car then a new button will also appear to open/close the garage.

      • Thanks for this info, I am the same with Google Home devices in home, CarPlay in the car, iPhone XR etc etc, but I don't have a "HomeKit hub" etc. Is this needed, or only if you want to use your voice to open the garage door in the house "hey google, open the garage door" for instance?

If I don't get a homekit hub, can I still get full use out of it with CarPlay/iphone, like will it pop up when I enter the street?

And will I be able to open the garage door remotely if I am away from home and someone calls me?

        • I use my old iPad as a HomeKit hub
          https://www.imore.com/homekit-home-hub

        • Without it connected to a HomeKit hub there’s no way to access it via CarPlay, it needs to be on your Apple ‘home’ to work like that.

If you have Google home already though, you can connect it to that and be able to access it via Google home, however that works on an iPhone/other device. Not too familiar with the Google ecosystem though so not sure how nice that works on an iPhone.

      • Thanks for the info!
Any way to get that extra button on the CarPlay screen without the home hub kit?
Would google home/assistance provide a button?

        • See my above reply. I doubt Google is going to provide you anything to work on CarPlay.

If you want that CarPlay feature you need to buy into the Apple ecosystem

          • @jasiano: Thanks for the info! Guess I’ll set up my iPad as a hub just for this! Thanks again.
Are there are any costs involved
            With home kit?

  • Got this over a year ago and it has worked beautifully. Easy to install/setup into my HomeKit.

    $49.99 on meross website, shipped.
    Cheaper!

    • +2

      That's in USD.

  • My garage doors open outwards, how do I install this? 🤷‍♀️

    • As long as it has a motor and control panel which is compatible, you can install it lol

  • +1

For those not interested in utilising HomeKit, get the wofea equilavent ones that you can get on AliExpress at a fraction of the cost. I use them, works exactly the same and is fantastic.

    • Purchased this, thanks for the info

      • Is this an ESP based processor?
Can flash to ESPHome if it is

    • Does the Smartlife/Tuya app provide open/close state to Google Home? i.e. can I ask Google Home if the door is open or closed?

  • The Applekit version works on Android as well, is it? If so is it better to go for Applekit?

    • Homekit version also works with android but you pay more for the apple homekit integration. If you don't use apple, then save yourself some money and but the cheaper one.

      • Even if you use apple stuff you can buy the cheaper one. I don’t use HomeKit stuff but use an iPhone with google home etc.

  • Thanks OP have been looking for ages waiting for a good special. At this price I'm in! Bought one.

  • I ended up getting a ewelink opener for 21 bucks on ebay. So easy to setup

  • Anyone know if I can create a routine via Alexa to do X while garage door open and then stop X when closed?
I gave up on Hass.io a while back and while I could still deploy to a container, it's just another thing on a LONG list of things I need to do.

  • I just bought this on Friday night for $70. Went to cancel but can't as it's in the final preparation stage for shipping.

    • -1

Buy this and return the other one when you receive it

      • needs to pay postage?

        • Never returned anything from Amazon I'll wait till it arrives tomorrow and figure it out

          • @tsarrr: Contact Amazon, see if they’ll give you a credit for the difference?

  • Which one is better? Meross or Orion Grid Connect ? I have ATA roller door.

    • I have the Orion Grid Connect working well with Google assistant. However I might buy the meross as I think the Samsung Smarttag only works with smartthings which meross works with. Will report back…

  • Thanks finally brought one. Been on the fence for awhile but it’s a no brainer at this price

  • Thanks OP. Got one. Was about to pull the trigger on the previous deal but procrastination got the better of me — looks like it worked out.

  • Is there any YouTube video how to install this?

  • +2

I bought this on a previous deal. I have a roller door (Steel-line) and it works well with it. Only thing is that I am finding it hard to figure out how to install sensors on the roller door.

  • Hi, can you still use the original remote control after installing this kit?

    • +1

      Yes you can.

      • Great. Thanks.

  • +1

Can I install this on https://www.bnd.com.au/product-detail/controll-a-door-power-…?

I don't see any positive / negative terminal. What can I find in?

    • +2

I've got the same motor so I've ordered one. I believe it's called the "B&D CAD PD". It looks to be a supported model on the compatibility table. You can Google the motor above and you'll get the manual with schematics.

  • I have to say this is one of the best and practical home automation product I ever bought.

  • +1

If you don’t want to order from Amazon there’s this from Bunnings which I installed about 3 weeks ago. Wasn’t too hard to install https://www.bunnings.com.au/orion-grid-connect-smart-garage-…

The only fiddly bit was running the wire for the open/closed sensor (if you want to use that bit).

It is not for Apple homekit use though.

  • Can i install Meross Smart Garage Opener Homekit on my ATA GDO-4 ? if yes how? As far as I know it uses OSC (pins) but not sure how it works…. thanks

    ATA GDO-4 - https://www.ata-aust.com.au/AtaAust/media/Manuals/GDO-4v3A-M…

  • Does this work with Merlin?

    • Never mind, found the compatibility chart. Works!

  • trying to figure out if this is compatible with my garage opener, the display pics in the guide look different to mine, can anyone help? TIA!
    https://www.ecogaragedoors.com.au/eco-1000n-sdo/

    • I believe this will work.
When googling that product, this manual appeared:http://www.waverleygaragedoors.com.au/instruction-manuals/Forcedoor.pdf
which appears to be the exact same as the one you linked under a different brand. Assuming they are the same, figure 24 shows how you would want to wire it.

  • These are fantastic and easy to install. I use the non HomeKit version with my iPhone and Apple Watch, it’s fantastic being able to open my garage door with just my watch and get notifications whenever it opens and closes.

  • my Steel line SD800 has 4 connectors (Photo eyes and Back up battery), please show me how to connect it?.

  • Assume this will work with gliderol (glidermatics GTS motor) garage door . Does anyone also know if any of these options posted in the comments or this particular one are compatible with NESS D16 alarm systems? My current alarm remote died and you cannot replace the batteries, need buy new remote for about 80$

  • Any advice on quiet openers for tilt doors? The chain operated ones we have now are very noisy.

  • +1

Any idea if this can work with Home Assistant locally (not connecting to the cloud service)?

  • I live in a block of units with a remote garage door. Can I install on this? Or does it need to connect to a wifi network

  • Does this give me an alert if I left it open for 30 mins or so

    • You can create alerts In Meross app.

  • do these require a power point outlet?
looking at the 3 garage model but sold out on the meross website.

    • Yes

  • Has anyone got this working on the Merlin MT100EVO without the adaptor?

    • Have you tried pin 1&2?
I've sent meross an email for adapter for same door. Droped you a dm

      • +1

I managed to get mine to work but I had to rip out the push button with some pliers. It was a litlle
Scary but it doesn’t seem to have done any permanent damage except I no longer have a push button :)

        • I have this same opener (MT100EVO), should I do the same - rip the green push button out with pliers…?

      • @pizzacat- what is the adapter you are referring to, is it better to order this/wait and do the same? I just emailed Meross support asking if this door is compatible as it wasn't in the list too?

        • Haven't had a reply from meross but worked out what to do haha.
The green button on the motor is the door remote, push the orange pins under it to release it, then put in the wires from this controller in (pin1 and 2) Still to install but just installed mobile app now and will install later today

          • +1

@pizzacat: Thanks for the info, I will give that a try too! Let me know how you go??

I found the manual ; Green Button "used to activate the door when the remote controls are not available Open - Stop - Close via finger access through the hole in the access cover.

I pushed it and my door operates as normal like with the remote. Sounds like we are on the right track although George ripped his out and you figured out how to release the jumper wires I guess! :)

            • +1

@dammit: Installed, blue wire to pin1, brown to pin2. Pushed garage icon on app and it opened. Just tried physical wall door button and that works too without the green button put back in. Testing close door after X time again which worked but app still had red dot as if door was open.
Still to tidy up wires but for now its working

              • +1

@pizzacat: Champion! Will definitely help me much appreciated.

  • So if I am in the car, can I use Google assistant (via voice) on my Android auto head unit to open/close the garage door?

  • +2

    And gone already

  • Does this work with Voice command using Alexa on android etc?

The Amazon reviews, some people are saying it doesnt in Australia.

    Cheers

  • Does anyone know if it works with Rhyno 1200T. Don’t know much except the name I can find on my unit.

    • Yes - Can confirm I have this working with the Rhyno 1200T

  • +1

    Showing as $79?

    • Yep is this expired the Non HomeKit one is still low price

  • A general question with these "smart" devices, like this one or those wifi smart lights, are these all link to a "server" of some sort in somewhere in the internet?
If so, then someone somehow hacked that server would be able to control all the smart device for the brand?

  • Silly question but what's the difference between homekit and non-homekit?

    • Apple HomeKit is like google home. It needs a newish Apple TV or a HomeKit device.

You can use the non HomeKit one with apple devices too, but it won’t integrate into HomeKit - you will just need to use the app to open/close the door.

      • +1

Thanks.. That goes to show how far I have been from the Apple ecosystem.

  • Just checking for my pops.
    Samsung Galaxy S10.
    Android Auto.
    Google Home Nest Mini.
    Single hard-wired garage door.

This SHOULD work for him right?

    • +1

As long as the garage door is supported.

      • +1

Thank you, will find out what door he has and then make a decision.

  • So from what I gather, the Laser brand sold at JB HiFi has a wireless sensor and this one is wired? The wireless would be more convenient to set up then?

  • Anyone know if these will work on an ACDC motorised solutions motor? Just ordered a new shed and apparently these are the motors that they use for their roller doors.
    TIA.

  • Now showing 'Not available' 😐

    • HomeKit compatible were sold out yesterday, non-home kit are still available. I have replaced the link

  • Hi All,

Would you know what is the different between Homekit and Non Homekit versions?

    Thanks

    • One has HomeKit functionality built in, the other doesn’t.
Scroll through the comments and you should be able to work out the differences.

    • In a nutshell, the HomeKit version uses Apple's smart automation ecosystem. That same HomeKit version is also compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa smart home automation ecosystems. So you're paying extra to integrate it with Apple's ecosystem. If you don't use that, then just get the cheaper version that does not have HomeKit support.

I use the HomeKit one so that it integrates with my Apple CarPlay digital dashboard console. I can either press the button that pops up on the car dash screen when i get home, or i can ask Siri to open the garage door via voice control.

As per comments above, you'll need a HomeKit hub supported device to connect to, such as a newer Apple TV, an Apple HomePod speaker or an iPad. Those devices will connect to your home wifi, and the garage door opener will connect to one of those devices to get access to the internet (so that you can check the status of your garage and open/close it from anywhere while your phone is connected to the internet).

  • Sorry to be a pain, but anyone with a B&D SDO-3V2 using this? I have checked the manual (page 13 under Auxiliary) and I guessing this is where I would connect it. But I already have two wires going into these ports.

    • +1

You can still add the wires no problems

  • These appear to be a basic Sonoff $10 relay. Sure it has a plastic case, but you can get a case for the sonoff too.

    • Yeah its pretty basic but you are really paying more for the app and wifi control ability.

      The actual hardware is simple.

      • the sonoff also has an app and wifi control. I really don't get it.
