Imagine how many trees are cut down for pointless calendars no one buys anymore. Do they not know that everyone has a calendar on their phone?

    • +30

I have two physical calendars at home so I guess some people like to write down important dates still?

      • +15

Yep i still have one on the fridge and write dates of crap on it

        • +5

          Everyone needs a poop diary

          • +1

@mattman: Oh that wouldn’t fit on a normal calendar

            • +1

@mwblink86: Oh I assumed you did a swatch like when you're testing a new paint or whatever. I mean, that's how I always did it.

          • +3

@mattman: me Monday to Friday at 9am sitting on the toilet at work:

WHY DO I KEEP SMASHING THESE COLES EXPRESS 2 for $7 DARE DOUBLE ESPRESSO FFS.

        • -4

Yep i still have one on the fridge and write dates of crap on it

Why? Put it on your phone and have a widget on your home screen. Surely you look at your phone more than the door on your fridge?

          • +3

@PainToad: I look at my fridge more

          • +3

            @PainToad:

Put it on your phone and have a widget on your home screen.

showing my age- what is a widget?
even with reading glasses I struggle to read my screen
so much easier with a physical calendar :)

            • -3

@docians: A widget is the equivalent of hanging a physical calendar on your fridge, except it "hangs" on the first screen on your phone. So every time you unlock it, you see a summary of the upcoming events in your phone's calendar.

That plus sharing digital calendars with your family members, makes the whole physical family calendar on the fridge thing irrelevant imo.

              • @PainToad: Unless the family members are kids that don't have a phone. I get where you are coming from, we used to use a digital calendar a lot, but since WFH the physical one has become had more utility

              • @PainToad: Don't understand all the downvotes… digital shared calendars are great, super convenient, can be added to and checked by multiple people from wherever they are. Honestly recommend people look into giving them a go, very convenient.
But hey if it is too hard or you prefer physical, these $2 beauties sure are a bargain, even if used just for their aesthetics and the joy they give you when you see them.

                • @Gojkins:

                  Don't understand all the downvotes

                  People don't like change.

      Here we go again

      • +4

I am about to say exactly this.

It really does not matter what people do. Someone always feel the need to fit in their 2c regardless the substance.

I waived the flag now before they drag me down to their level 🏳🏳🏳

        • -6

          their 2c

If they still have stock in February, clearly it's not just my opinion and less and less people are buying them.

    • +1

Imagine not knowing other people live their life different to yours…

They totally waste a LOT of paper on mass producing these things though.

Imagine not knowing other people live their life different to yours…

I know some older people don't like change. Technology can be scary to them.

    • Even if no one is cutting down trees, there will definitely be bush fires, landslides, volcanic eruptions, etc. Life is too short to worry about anything. You had better enjoy it because the next day promises nothing.

    • +2

Just because I have a phone and look at it constantly does not mean I know what day/date it is

      • Umm what? Have a widget with an agenda. It will show what's on today, tomorrow etc.

    • +1

Everytime a calendar reminder fires on my phone, half of the time I tell myself "okay the remainder fired, I gotta do this thing in 10 mins" and forgot about the thing for whole day. Physical calendar is much in my face I prefer that for important stuff since I rarely look at my phone calender.

Besides, most of the physical calendar I bought have cool art, I keep them hanging on the wall even if they are way out of date already (e.g kurzgesagt human era calender, or the Shinka Makoto one from his expo in Tokyo).

    • +2

Sustainability is definitely not OzBargain concern even though I don't like saying it.

However, I could say that, you making use of already cut down trees by buying one of these calendars (and using it) may actually serve better to the situation.

Someone made a good point above saying that less people are buying them. These are February stock, I doubt they will add these sales to next year production limit.

    • I've never found a calendar app worth a damn. Usually they are overdesigned garbage, or else just basic My First App.

    • +1

Agree with you partially. Yeah a waste of paper but a lot of folks like their physical calendars. We use it for marking our cat's vax and flea treatment due dates. Somehow they work better than any reminder on the phones. Must be a psychological thing :)

  • +4

Thanks OP, I still have physical calendars at work and home.
Unfortunately the simpsons one is unavailable for delivery, and no stock within 200 KM of Brisbane :'(

    • +2

Bugger sorry mate. What about the Monopoly one? Or is that too mainstream these days haha

      • +1

      • +1

I usually get the free pharmacy ones every December. Works for me. Otherwise use app on my phone/PC (which I'm looking at most of the day anyway for work).

From a review of the calendar set

This is a great set - but the calendar spaces are really tiny, it's a Northern Hemisphere focused calendar too.

    • that's why I wanna check it instore and I hope it doesn't run out of stock by the time. Not sure if these will run out quick

      • +1

If you are a real Pusheen fan you'll buy it and take naps on it

  • Can't see the Mario one?

    Edit: found it . Actually, I haven't found it…

The fact that there is a Banksy calendar is so ironic my eyes are rolling like a old timey slot machine.

  • $2 calendars for 25 cents in 2 months

    • None left :)

  • What's in gift sets?

    • +1
