You have to supply your full name and email address just to get a quote. No deal.

I just put Luke Skywalker and it gave me a quote.

Did you use the Force ?

No, master jv, I just used my green lightsaber.

Just make up an email, number and use an address close to you for the quote & only use your real info if you decide it's worth it to sign up.

  • GC only valid for 3 months. Since when ? Isn't it breaking the law ?

    • 90 days to get the gift card

      • Not for my understanding though. It is clearly says "Gift Cards are valid for 3 months"

Free and discounted gift cards aren't required to be valid for 3 years, I think

Hi there, as this is a temporary promotional GiftCard it is excluded from the recent legislation you are referring to.

    • As OP has already said to you, it is not breaking the law, because it falls under an exemption of the very saw law you’re thinking of.

If you look at this ACCC webpage regarding gift cards, it states that:

The three year requirement does not apply to gift cards that are:

      • part of a temporary marketing promotion (e.g. customers buy a certain product from Business A, which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B).

Considering the deal is only for a limited time and the gift card is for a different business to the one supplying the deal, the deal is therefore a “temporary marketing promotion”, and the $100 gift card is exempt from the three year minimum expiry date.

In all fairness, all gift cards issued by Woolworths Group (e.g. WISH, Woolworths Supermarkets, BIG W) are likely exempt from gift card laws anyway, as funds can be reloaded onto a Woolworths Group gift card. For example, if you return an item (or items) to a Woolworths Group store (in-person) and staff agree to provide you with a refund, you can swipe, scan or key in a gift card as part of the refund process and the funds will be immediately reloaded back onto that gift card.

    Switch to dodo and cry

  • Is it possible to stack with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/682439?

    • Hi there, first month free promotion on broadband is also available on eligible plans via Econnex. This will be visible along with the plan details.

      • I can't seem to find any way to actually apply the free month though. At checkout it just shows $85 upfront.

        • The credit will be applied upon service activation, you do not need to apply for it. The upfront cost is related to the modem.

          • @Manyo: I selected BYO modem

            • @dv1den: I've just tested myself and can see with BYO no upfront costs are being shown only the ongoing monthly costs, can you please DM me with your details so that we can get this sorted for you.

Probably had some of the worst internet speeds and customer service with Dodo in the past, so might have to give this one a pass.

So give them your details, transfer your internet over, go through all the hassle, find out dodo is shit, transfer back to old ISP, lose out on $100 gift card, given up your details to a marketing company for free.

    Wooo!

I wouldn't touch DoDo … like it's namesake it is extinct plus horrible and bad. Internode are the best or I think Aussie or iiNet not to bad or even OPTUS. DoDo is done like a dinner … dead and burnt!

  • Can you choose a later day when signing up?

I am just confused if you cancel after 2 months. Will they still send you the gift card on your third month?
Dodo can always say you have already cancelled the service and tick you off.

  • Seems you cannot change the activation day.

  • Quick update for you guys, Just called econnex.com.au to request a later activation date.
Which you can do, but he said you need to stay with them for 90 days for this deal.

It's against what it said on their website.
"In case the service is cancelled within the first 30 days the transaction would be deemed invalid.
If Eligible, Recipients will receive $100 gift card by email up to 90 days after you have successfully activated your service."

    so no deals
