  • Shame no eneloop AAA's. What are the Panasonic's like?

    • +1

Well Panasonic owns Sanyo and I think Evoltas will be taking over the eneloops. I think evolta was slightly better aswell than the eneloop counterparts.

  • +1

    Hmmm…the Panasonics are $26 delivered:

    http://junglejumble.com.au/panasonic-evolta-eco-lsd-recharge…

…and the charger with Eneloops is $40:

    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/S4462/eneloop-quick-charger-…

    …making it only a $4 saving.

    Free postage junglejumble?

It's ozbargain, when we compare prices we compare with the cheapest available. If you can't provide a bargain with respect to your normal prices please hold off posting it as a deal.

        • -7

The deal is better than than our normal price and better than comparable DS price provided by Kirt. If you can provide links to an even better price please do.

      • +8

Resorting to personal attacks are we, not a good image from a rep..
You obviously are feeble minded to not expect people to do comparisons on a bargain website.

        • -4

Hey not a personal attack, more Kirt s-kirting the deal..lol

        • +6

It's not an attack as the comparison was basically a DS hijack and the price wasn't even better..LOL…. A little humour goes a long way. apologies for the Skirt pun

      • +1

        Wow…ok…

Looks like you don't need me to "throw people off" ;)

        • +2

Atleast he is good for a laugh, at the expense of his dignity and reputability.

  • +2

Panasonic Evolta performance is comparable if not better than Sanyo Eneelop; such as, similar battery power and increased recharge cycle times 1600 on Evolta v's 1500 on Eneloop.

All things relative, the merger between Panasonic and Sanyo in 2011 would indicate the chemistry of the batteries is similar between brands.

    • +5

But the Eneloop is made in Japan and the Evolta in China. That there alone makes me buy the Eneloop.

      • +1

All Panasonic Japan batteries are manufactured to worldwide standards and in a global economy the country of origin is neither here nor there. Are you suggesting China is incapable of producing quality batteries?

        • +10

dude stop.. you shouldn't be a rep :)

        • -5

China is incapable of producing quality anything.

        • Sure lot's of OzB members would disagree

        • I guess they can make a good battery. I would expect a high price drop as they are made in China.

      • +7

Apple products are made in China, and everyone seems to worship them as kings of build construction??

They're batteries, sandwiches of metals and insuators. I'm pretty sure the factories in China that roll batteries do the same processes as the ones made in japan. I wouldn't be surprised if Sanyo imported their materials from China.

Plus, Panasonic owns Sanyo, its just a matter of time before one factory moves to another.

        • The Japanese people are very big on reputation. Any company that sells low-quality products won't stay in business long.

Chinese companies are much more cut-throat, and there are lots that will do anything to shave their costs to the bone. Witness the recent dog-food and baby-formula contamination scandals. Maybe it's because there's a lot more competition in a country with 1+ billion other people competing in the marketplace.

Chinese companies CAN produce a quality product, no doubt about it. A friend of mine owns a manufacturing business, and Chinese competition was destroying his business. He outsourced to China initially, but then had to move to China to oversee the operations, to ensure the quality level was upheld.

        • Like I said they can be made in China but I will expect a high price drop.

And Apple Fanboys only think Apple are the kings of build construction.
In the real world Apple are no better then any one else.

        • I think Krisspy is right on the money! It is only a matter of time; just look at the number of Japanese cars that have moved production to Thailand for instance.

As a Japanese friend said when I had commented on the modest pollution levels compared to popular misconception, during my last visit to Tokyo: "I'm ashamed to admit that we now prefer to pollute other countries, and we've found it is both more profitable & efficient to do so!"

  • I picked up my first set of Eneloop (x4) batteries and charger for $25 from Dick Smith during a special. This is not so attractive.

    • This deal is for a quick charger with 4x AA + 8x AAA. Kirt rightly pointed out the quick charger with 4x AA is $44.94 delivered via DS. Basically, $17 extra for 8x AAA Evolta LSD batteries which retail $30+

      • yeah, quick chargers lower the lifespan of a battery, compared to a regular.. so I don't know why you're pointing out that it's quick as a PRO… and justifies the extra $$.

        • You can charge two or four batteries at normal charge.

        • its not the charge rate that kills batteries, its overcharging, i.e. continuing charge when battery is full. I stumped up for a MAHA C9000 a few years ago, great investment to look after your NiMH batteries.

      • +1

pretty sure your batteries won't last even 500 charges using that charger, assuming its the same one I got on your recent deal.It charges for a fixed time, regardless of battery state. It can only charge in pairs.

        • I also have the C9000, The batteries do get hot from the high current "quick chargers". Which would lower it's lifespan
Anyway I'm just commenting, not purchasing, I already have what I need.

        • No the charger is a smart charger.

  • +10

Rep, your behaviour in this thread has led me to the conclusion that it would be unwise for me to do business with the aformentioned company. I shudder to think how you would react to a customer service issue.

    • -1

was going to buy…reps behavior is a no no.
Sorry Champ. I'll wait for DSE to go belly up :D

    • +1

Duly noted,an apology was given re the skirting pun. In future I won't be as vitriolic in my criticism of others

  • +1

Hey REP, not saying this was a bad deal or anything, just poorly timed…how's about a straight-up deal on some Eneloop AAA's or even Evolta AAA's for us OzB'ers?

We've pretty much all got a heap of AA's from recent deals ATM, not to mention chargers; but a sweet AAA deal would smooth things over nicely after your rough start in this one! :)

  • +1

You've had considerably better offers in the past.

    • Market is tight these days. There are plenty of good deals out there to see who can survive the longest.

  • +4

I won't be purchasing as I've got too many batteries already, but reading the comments I'm not sure why the rep got downvoted on his comments. Hardly what I'd call a personal attack.

Compared to some of the comments from ozbargainers, which I thought was very personal attacks and unwarranted.

  • You got a serious issue with recurring comments towards customers there rep.

I've made my apologies to all concerned for being overly passionate, reactive and protective, the comment was intended as humour; unwittingly, it was interrupted negatively by some. Come to think of it, in hindsight, a rewrite of the text could have got the point across in a better light..but hey..that's hindsight.

The fact remains the thread was hijacked with a link to another site offering a more expensive price than our own. The above flame has little bearing on our values thank you.
