The $50 newsletter bonus has ended I think

    • Yeah I believe Samsung is not offering that $50 newsletter bonus anymore. But I still had mine lingering around from January and it worked.

      • what's the validity period for this $50 coupon ?

        • +1

I used it after a year and worked.

    • Is this legit, never bought anything from them so checking

      • +1

I think you can price match at JB/good guys

        • Thanks mate, will try to do it

      • +3

They are online store and have showroom in Warwick Farm NSW 2170, where you could ask for pick-up and have phone number. They also sell on Ebay for Electrical and white goods, so they are legit.

      • +2

Its just one of the Betta Electrical stores than runs an online business as well

        https://www.betta.com.au/stores/powerland-betta-home-living

        Powerland.com.au is their online store.

      • +2

They are legit mate. They also have an ebay store. Bought a washer during new year from them.

      • They are a great store located in Sydney. Deliveries to Sydney are next day

    • +3

They're also on Ebay. If you have Ebay Plus take off another 5% off (PLUSFEB5), about $1092. Just purchased today, 3 left.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/194795264003?epid=12047054607&ha…

      • Ebay price is $1149, guess 5% off is $1092! that would be great price.

        • And it's gone!

  • Sub is a bit weak on this - just a warning for anyone considering.

    Really good sound otherwise.

    • I was using s60a. After getting the q900a a few days ago, I was blown away by the bass…

    • Did you increase the bass to max?

    • +5

The sub is anything but weak!

    • +1

If you are looking for Bass heavy sound bar system good for music that that gets the house pumping, JBLs are good, but overall sound quality is no where near as good as Samsung's better sound bars.

      • Agree, the bass is clean but strong from Q950A. If you like lots of resonance then look elsewhere.

      • Or get the Nakimachi soundbar.

      • Sonos arc + sub is amazing as well . I have the bass on like 2/8 and it still shakes the room

    • +1

What is your sub placement? I have my Q950A system sub corner loaded in a a massive 10m x 10m living room with large hallways leading off it and the sub can be TOO heavy some of the time, so they are quite placement sensitive.

Note: I have a massive SVS 15" sub for a serious HT setup and have had twin 15" subs in my car audio history, so I am familiar with big bass.

If your quick, there is 1 available from here (for $1,105): https://www.ishoptech.com.au/products/samsung-q950a-11-1-4-c…

I'm holding out for the replacement model Q990b

  • Does not look the cheapest deal after all, which requiring special membership to login and hard to get code!!

  • +1

If you mostly watch movies from Netflix ect make sure your tv supports Atmos.

    • Or use passthrough from something like an Apple TV 4k to get Atmos sound, tv is last in the chain so doesn't need Atmos support.

      • Great if you have one.

  • +1

$1,145 from Appliance Central (at the time of looking, they adjust prices VERY often)
    https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/hw-q950axy-samsung-11-1-…

    • +1

Wish I didn't purchase the q900a a few days ago. Would love to get the rear speaker.

    • +1

But it was a $72 delivery cost for me in VIC. So Samsung was still cheaper.

  • I have a HW-N950. Sound quality is good but using ARC/HDMI pass through is a mess, often breaks. Rear speakers are very quiet, almost nonexistent.

    • Yeah I have the same problem 2 year Samsung tv doesn't want to pass through Atmos even though though my 4 year old Samsung 4k player does :/ turning all the speaker levels down and the rears up helped a bit with the low output with the rears

    • Maybe the N950… I have the 950A and have had zero issues on ARC/HDMI once setup. You can also raise the volume of the rear speakers and it makes a big difference.

  • What would be the equivalent for this set up from other brands? My HW-N950 has died and I’m organising a refund from Samsung under warranty, so just deciding whether to go with this or try something else.

      Samsung Q950a $1,100,
      Sonos Arc 5.1.2 ~ $3,000,
      Sony HT-A7000 $1,699 + Sony SA-RS3S $649 + Sony SA-SW5 $899 total for Sony ~$3200
      BOSE SoundBar and Sub 700 Bundle $2,000 + Surround Speakers + $425

      • +1

Thanks for that. Looks like I may be sticking with the Samsung as the replacement based on those total prices lol

        • Yeah these Samsung soundbars are by far the best value.

  • I have a Sony one where the rear speakers constantly disconnect. Does this have the same issue?

    • +1

I bought this Q950a couple of months and connected to Sony TV KD75X9000H through HDMI cable and don't have any issue.

  • FYI Samsung rant. Purchased a tv a month ago, which was supposed to be delivered a week later. Samsung never reached out to advise that nobody will be delivering it. 4 weeks on…still no tv in sight. Customer service is atrocious. Be prepared to wait weeks on end…

    • +2

Agree as above..ordered same soundbar on 31st Jan still no date to be delivered so be prepared to wait for weeks.

  • +1

Can anyone recommend a decent stand for the rear speakers under $150?

  • How they can get away with calling this 11.1.4 is a joke. At best this might be 5.1.4 if there are upwards firing speakers in both the soundbar and the satellite speakers, otherwise it's just a 5.1 soundbar.

    • There are in both.

    • +1

Unless you watching a dolby Atmos 4k blu-ray on a compatible player most those channels going to be silent anyway.

      • That doesn't change the fact that calling it 11.1.4 is wrong. There is a growing amount of Atmos content around.

        • But there are upwards firing speakers in the main and rear satelites.

    • $1,139.05 from their eBay store with eBay plus code PLUSFEB5 and potentially further 4.5% off with discounted eBay gift cards.

      I'm so tempted.

      • Yesterday price was $50 cheaper, they increased it last night.

      • Unfortunately I'm not with eBay plus, and it's $36 postage for me on their ebay store - guess I coulda signed up for ebay plus and essentially almost got Plus for free…. too late tho lol

        • My understanding is you get free delivery with Ebay+. you could try it for free for a month unless you already used your free trial?

          • @huntabargain: Yeh already used my free trial when it first came out.
Ahhh, free delivery - forgot that was a possibility too. Fortunately/unfortunately I already pulled the trigger on the powerland website listing as I was too keen to buy one.

            • @ArtVanderlay: All good, you will love it, at least the store seem to have it in stock, unlike buying direct from Samsung where people report they have been waiting for weeks to receive the unit and it costed you less than this deal anyway.

              • @huntabargain: Thanks! I can't wait. Yeh, had my eye on direct from samsung too if it got cheaper, glad I didn't tho..

        • You should be able to get eBay plus on a monthly payment now. So it's only $5 for the month then you can cancel it. Postage is showing free for me

          • @jtlaus: Ahhh, good to know(for next time) thanks 😃
Already purchased off the website now lol. This one will just go on my growing list of regrets where I coulda saved more😔

      • can’t see it listed on ebay anymore

  • +1

I have two of the Q950A systems and the only issue I have with them both is very quiet rear speakers. I have them at their maximum +6 setting, and they are VERY rarely heard. Only when there is very little sound from the front are they audible. My parents have the Sonos Arc and Sonos ones at the rear and they chime in all the time.

    • You might have to check your speaker placement. I have the 950A and once I raised the volume of the rear speakers it made a huge difference, to the point I had to lower back down a bit.

You obviously won't notice it unless you're playing proper content (i.e. 5.1+, ATMOS and etc) but that's the way it should be.

  • Does anyone know where can I find a cheap 9500s rear speaker? I haven't seen it on sale before.

    • I am not aware that you can get Samsung rear speakers separate for the 900 series, whether cheap or not!
Edit: Appliance Central sell for $370 delivered or www.ishoptech.com.au sell for $345 + del

  • Using this deal ,Q950A will cost $1161 after cashback

  • +1

I just bought this Soundbar on Appliances Online eBay store (link) for $1,115.10 ($1239.00 minus $123.90 Afterpay 10% discount from this deal). I didn't have any discounted eBay giftcards otherwise could've been even more cheaper.

  • Anyone interested to buy, currently $1,099 with code SNSAVE2 delivered through Ebay powerland Q950a

  • Cheaper here : $1,006

    • $956 now, but only available to certain areas in Vic (Message: when I entered QLD postcode)

      • +1

yes and it is New Condition ie open boxed, so who knows, may be returned product from appliance on line customer!

  • I got 2 jbl partybox 300's setup, is it worth buying to replace them?
