        • I was just about to post a comment saying that the acceptance of the Vanilla Visa gift card is at the discretion of the staff member, because of the signature requirement at Coles and the terms you were told about by the staff member.

I'm sure there will be a different staff member at the self-service checkouts later today, but there's a good chance a lot of the staff at that store have been instructed by store management to reject people wanting to use Vanilla Visa gift cards as a payment method for gift cards.

          • @WookieMonster: what a bummer!

T&C did just saw "cannot be used to buy Gift Card at Coles". I hope its allowed to buy GC at Woolies.

            • @rake: It is not blocked at Woolworths (which is surprising), and there is no signature verification required. Swipe the card, press Enter and you're all good.

  • does Apple Gift Card have exp date?

Can someone confirm for me that
    - if I purchased $2250 of Apple Gift Cards (i.e. 11x $200 cards + 1x $50 card)
    - I would get 45,000 Flybuys points,
    - and this would redeem to $225 worth off future Coles shops
    - effectively making this 10% off in a roundabout fashion
    Is my understanding correct?

if i got the 45k points from this promotion's January 2022 run will i still be eligible for this?

    • +1

      Yes.

The 45,000 points cap is only applicable for this specific deal. Points earned from similar deals in the past or future don't count.

  • How long does it take for points to load? I bought some gift cards this morning still haven’t received any points. Card was scanned

Last time it took 24-48 hours. Woolies is much better as it’s almost instant

I would hold off on praising EDR. At least with Flybuys, my points can't easily be stolen.

        EDR = #EPICFAIL

      • Bought at 8pm, 1-Mar. Hope points show up soon. Woolies is definitely better. It shows up instantly

All the bonus points are now in my flybuy account for the gift cards which I bought at 9am yesterday

  • Just wondering if I can convert points from previous deal to flybuys dollars and use that to pay for Cards this time around?

Any restrictions on using flybuys dollars to buy gift cards?

    • +1

      That won’t work.

If you swipe your Flybuys card and attempt to redeem Flybuys Dollars when purchasing gift cards at Coles, you’ll get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal.

      • +1

Thank you. I must have missed that on the FAQ.

      • do you mean self-service? because the person asked me if i wanted to redeem $10 off and it worked.

        • No, Flybuys Dollars cannot be redeemed at any checkouts at Coles. It is a restriction embedded within the POS system itself, so it is a restriction on all checkouts and staff cannot bypass this restriction. (I have tried this myself.)

Do you have a Coles Financial Services (CFS) product tied to your Flybuys account? That’s the only scenario I know of where you can redeem 2000 Flybuys points (not Flybuys Dollars) for a $10 discount.

          • @WookieMonster: I don't have any CFS. She said: "Do you want to redeem FB points for $10 off" i said yes and I only paid $40 for the 50 apple gift card

  • Do you need to redeem some sort of offer on the flybuys app? Or does scanning the apple gift cards at checkout with your flybuys automatically add the points?

    • There's no need to activate anything prior to purchase.

All you need to do to get the points is scan the Flybuys card with the Apple gift card(s) before you finalise payment for the transaction.

  • Is there a Woolworths Everyday Rewards points deal for Apple Gift Cards currently or upcoming?

    • Not directly.

      • If you go to BIG W, you can get 20x Everyday Rewards points on TCN HIM or HER gift cards. The deal ends on Wednesday.

      • If you go to Woolworths, you can get 10% off TCN HIM gift cards. The deal starts on Wednesday and runs until the Tuesday after.

I mention TCN HIM / HER gift cards, as they are EFTPOS gift cards, and they can be used to purchase Apple gift cards in-store at JB Hi-Fi. Whether you want go through the extra hassle of going to a JB Hi-Fi store and purchasing Apple gift cards is up to you.

  • Just in time, I got a call from the ATO and need to pay some late taxes or I'll be arrested.

If anyone is looking there’s stacks of the variable load cards at Coles in Chatswood Chase. Must be at least 60 cards there.

  • just got my flybuys creditted after 24 hours. $2.5k worth of gift cards & got 50k points. looks like the limit isn't working… winning

    • Were the gift cards all purchased in one transaction or across multiple transactions?

      • same transaction. $500x5 gift cards

        • Thought so. It seems like they didn't enforce the limit on the first transaction.

My guess is that if you purchased 4x $500 gift cards in one transaction, then 1x $500 in a subsequent transaction, the limit would kick in.
