      Yes and no.
      I haven't seen a deal cheaper.
      But Amazon seems to drop it to this price often enough.
      If you can't get a code now I doubt you will need to wait long

            @asa79: Yeah, I played through Tony Hawk 2 and some others on the original basic bitch Fire Stick years ago. Can only imagine how well they'd run on this much beefier one since my experience was pretty well indistinguishable from the OG console.

        I am using Google TV and not really happy with it as well. I have a problem with the remote being sluggish and sometimes not responding. I googled and found out many people have the same problem with the remote as well. Not to mention, I gone through 8 AAAs on the remote itself, considering casual usage.

        The chromecast is working fine, I can control it using my Samsung TV remote, and it is very responsive. Called up Google and they said the remote is under warranty, but still wants me to send in mine, and they will send back a new one after they tested it. Told them this process will take too long, and my kids need the remote for the chromecast, and that was the reason I got the chromecast with remote in the first place. They won't budge.

        Thinking to give this Fire TV a try. If anyone got a spare code they are not using, please PM me. Much appreciated.

      I have both … I prefer FireTV Max because it is fast and the remote is far better than the GTV one. Also if you have multiple profiles setup on the device ( kids profile, guest etc ), GTV tends to be very slow when switching between the profiles. The only downside for FireTV is that you will have to sideload popular apps like Kayo , Hotstar etc.. Sideloading is easy though !!

        How about the transfer speed through otg? Some people tend to expand their storage device (gtv/f4kmax) as they only have 8gb internally.

        Firestick 4k Max uses - micro usb
        Google Tv uses - usb type-c

        I had the og chromecast back in the day. This is superior to that in every single way. The newer chromecasts are still good but i find these alot more useful. Even on my newer TCL 4k tv this works alot faster and seems more reliable. On my older Aldi tv this has breathed new life into it. My last one is setup with retro games.

        I have both. Definitely get Google TV instead if you like Chrome casting stuff from your mobile, the Fire TV lacks native Chrome Cast. Or if you want the Rolls Royce, an Nvidia Shield TV Pro

            @soob: Yes, that is why I mentioned it is not "native Chromecast". The mirroring app that is available on the FireTV I don't like it, most of the times it bugs out for me and it is not compatible with some of the video apps I am trying to cast to Amazon TV, especially when the video file size is large.

            I got the FireTV for my living room to replace my Vodafone TV, and I ended up sticking to Vodafone TV and putting the FireTV in the guest bedroom as a result. It was also noticeable lag for me compared to the Vodafone TV which was commented on in previous deals. It isn't massive but I do notice it.

      Depends what you're looking for. This is a much better streaming device. Fox Now has a FTA tuner built in with limited streaming capabilities.

    Will this work to stream via Plex from an external server with the free version of Plex? On mobile etc. I cant watch anything on plex, the device only works as a control to cast.

      Yes!! I use mine almost exclusively for Plex.
      I often do overnight stays for work and will take mine with me. Works great. Plug it in to the TV in the room and connect to hotspot.
