    GFY belong.

I've been with you forever and this is how you treat me?

    • Now they wana recover $20 referrals that you snapped.

      • +1

And all the sims I activated and transferred all the bonus data to myself.

  • bad news.

  • +3

RIP Belong. I was with Belong for a year or so on their $10/month paid for by their referral program + data gifting from new sims. It was great while it lasted.

  • Gooodddddd byeeeeeeeeee my loverrrrrrrrrrr, Gooood byeeeee my friend 😥

  • Very sad, been with them for like 5 years. Well it is about time I changed to a long life plan anyway.

Tangerine Telecom is the only provider remaining with a $10/mth plan on the Telstra network - $9.90 with 1GB

    https://www.tangerinetelecom.com.au/mobile/sim-only-mobile-p…
    https://www.tangerinetelecom.com.au/storage/CIS/SIM%20Only%2…

Then Pennytel has $10.99/mth with 1GB and Lycamobile has $12/28 days with 2GB (first 2 renewals are 50% off / $6)

    • +1

Also CMOBILE with a $10/1GB Telstra plan (or $9.90/1GB Vodafone)

  • +1

Belong used to have free unlimited international calls for five dollars extra.

Really cheap when it started out

    • Free International calls for $5?
Think you mean they charge $5 for unlimited to certain destinations.
To be fair, they still have that with the revised plan, it’s just that you have to spend a total of $20/month instead of $15/month now

  • +2

$150 for Woolworths 12 month plan would be cheaper $12.50 pm) and 10% off groceries once a month to make up difference. Same network.

    • Agree. I was looking at it few weeks ago. Unfortunately no international call included kills the deal for me.

      • Unfortunately no international call included kills the deal for me.

        Use VOIP.

  • -1

Nothing new about companies changing plans and as per the contract you signed or agreed to over the phone they are giving you the required notice.

  • For that price they better be adding voicemail :l

  • +2

    2TB banked 😢

  • -3

My 89 yo mother-in law now in a nursing home was placed on this plan to be able to get call from the rest of the family, due to dementia she never has come to grips with making calls!. Can only just work out how to answer incoming calls, so thanks Belong, oh sorry Telstra lets just add to the phone isolation of the many elderly citizens around the country - thanks not!.

    • +4

If she only needs to receive calls, cheaper to buy a $10 Amaysim starter pack on their PAYG plan. The $10 credits has an expiry of 12 months.

      • thank you!!!

        • +1
          • @WatchNerd: thanks, but they are different plans

the free $10 plan in your link is a monthly plan and @sschen quoted PAYG plan (12 months expiry credit)

still…I need to thank you for the link! :)

another alternative is AldiMobile with $5 starter pack, also comes in 12 months expiry credit…

    • +1

So she was placed on this plan, like she was placed in the home? Maybe visit her more instead of whaling on Belong?

  • +1

Ffs, just got 300gb banked up. Time to sell and jump ship

    • List them in classifieds cheap and I'll be your first customer

  • Well that's crap. Just logged in to check my data balance and saw the notice.
Got tired of switching providers all the time for a good deal, $10 a month was a good enough compromise and would just buy data from OzBargainers when I needed it (usually on WiFi so dont need much anyway)

I wonder how many of us there are left. Worth us telling em we're not happy and jumping ship, in case they see sense? Much better value out there for less than $180 a year.

    • They will see anyway when they start losing customers.

      • +1

I guess they can stand to lose up to a 3rd of the $10 plan users and still be ahead with the price increase.. I ported out anyway.

  • It's been good with belong, time to sell my data and make the move to someone more competitive

$60/year profit for them by shoving everyone on $15 per month

Best way to said a strong message is churn in droves that what they did was a big mistake

    • Dont worry. Belong will run new promo like free SIM delivered to attract new customers. Get ready for it. Dont be loyal to any service.

      • 100% agree with you, i'm loyal to my wallet :D

  • Goodbye Belongz

  • so for people that have a lot data banked (for example 200-300GB). what are you going to do ? move out or stay ?

    • +1

As someone with about 500gb data banked, i am wondering this myself too. I have never paid more than $10/month for my mobile and i don't plan on starting now, not sure if i will switch to Tangerine or Cmoblie which are both on Telstra network, but then i only get 1 bar of reception so maybe i should try another carrier first.

      • Coles is on Optus. At the moment their 120GB is $119/year though I guess is won't be come April. Their 60GB is $120 so still better value at $10/5GB per month.

        • Catch connect who use Optus have a deal that ends tomorrow for $109/year - 120GB

i already placed an order for that sim to arrive

  • +1

It was good to belong while it lasted. Now back to being a loner again.

    • +1

      LOL that's funny sorry :P

None of us Belong anymore :(

  • +2

Yep good while it lasted! RIP

  • LOL I have 6T data what a loss…

    • Why do you hoard that much in the 1st place?

      • Well… I intended to use it forever.. then the rule started changing…

  • Any other cheaper options for 365 day plans? I am trying to find another plan for my parents to port out from Belong. They dont use much data anyway.

    • Amaysim PAYG. $10 per year if you don't make too many calls…

      • Yeah but I was thinking to get the Catch connect 365 days plan for $89. It seems to be the cheapest option with unlimited talk.

        • I am moving on from Belong and it seems like Catch is the cheapest option available for unlimited calls/SMS. I haven't been able to find anything cheaper.

          • @jmys01: Yeh, Catch has good timing. I expect they'll be getting plenty of port ins over the next few weeks. At least there'll be plenty of data to buy for those still with Belong.

To top it off Belong is no longer offering the $5/month discount for 12 month NBN Starter plans so I'm sure they're going to have some more customers jumping ship on that side of things too.

  • Merged from BELONG $10 Mobile Plan to Be Retired April 2022

What do you think about this? Copy paste

    Hi
At Belong, we're all about giving you the best value we can. Every so often we need to make changes to our plans – and we wanted to give you a heads up on how our latest changes affect you.

    What's changing?
In March 2021 we stopped selling our $10 mobile plan to new customers and will now be retiring the $10 plan for good. We will be moving anyone still on it over to our $15 plan with 3GB of data a month - which is only available to existing customers.

    What that means for you
Your service on the $10 mobile plan will be moved to our $15 plan from the 20 April 2022. The amount you pay each month increases, but your data will also increase to 3GB per month.

    • Hi Belong, I do not need data increase as I have plenty banked!

      • +1

Hi Conant you have been belonged

  • Merged from [Poll] Belong Monthly Price Increase $10 to $15.

Belong are withdrawing their $10 (1GB) monthly and forcing you to the $15 (3GB) from May or you can leave. Lots of Belong peeps on here, what will you do?

    Poll Result
    • Stick with the higher cost $15 plan (6 votes)
    • Move to another Belong plan (0 vote)
    • Look for another provider - monthly plan (3 votes)
    • Look for another provider - yearly plan (12 votes)
    • Bikies (4 votes)
    • I still have some credit. But I do like that it is Telstra. Boost or aldi only alternatives. Or

    • Options from the main thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/684813

    • still have lots data so i am undecided

      • Same situation.

Belong had a good run, but there $10 plan was the only thing keeping them more competitive than other provider's budget plans.

At $15, I'll gift my the data away to friends and move on.

Plenty of good deals to check out on here that work out less than $10 per month (for low data users like myself).

        e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/689938
        or
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/686977

        • mostly wfh now so data is not important but i dont know how much i will need each month when i go back to wfo.

5 days usage: playing games, occasional youtube on the train, browsing (no music streaming at all).
          would 10GB a month enough?

          • @CyberMurning: I would imagine so. Youtube probably going to be the thing that uses the most.

Be good if Belong actually showed you your monthly usage. I just log in every now and again and drop my data balance into a spreadsheet.
I only go through a little over a GB a month as I'm mostly on Wifi. Missus is on mobile data during the day and uses about the same, no games and if any videos would be rare during the day. So I bank on about 1GB a month for general daily usage and a little extra as buffer. 9GB extra seems like it would cover your usage pattern?

I ordered the $89/85GB Catchconnect SIM last week, just hoping Auspost gets it here this week as Belong plan renews on the weekend. At least will still only be @ $10 but think I need to activate the Catchconnect plan within 30 days of ordered to get the extra 25GB data (not that I really need it).

    • +2

I moved to Boost on $200 per year plan. Found a deal for $153 and price beat with Officeworks so paid $145. It has plenty of data and gives me greater coverage.

  • +1

Options for other providers on Telstra network:

    Monthly
    Tangerine Telecom 1GB Mobile SIM - $9.90/mth + 1GB
    More 1GB Mobile SIM - $10/mth + 1GB
    CMobile Blue $10 - $10/mth + 1GB
    Pennytel XS - $10.99/mth + 1GB
    Lycamobile 12 - $12/28 days + 2GB

    Half Yearly / Yearly
    Woolworths Mobile Long Expiry $65 - $65/180 days + 15GB
    Woolworths Mobile Long Expiry $150 - $150/365 days + 100GB

    • Some other options (didn't check the network):
      Telechoice 180-day Prepaid - $50/180 days + 7gb
      Catch Connect 30-day - $10/30 days + 4gb
      Amaysim 1 year - $120/365 days + 60gb
      Coles 365 days - $120/365 + 60gb (special - currently $99)
      Edit: Circles - $10/month + 5gb

Telechoice looks quite interesting but tempted to just go with Woolies and call it a day.

      • Adding to that:
        - Catch Connect 90 days - $29/90 days + 20gb
        - Catch Connect 1 year - $120/1 year + 60gb (currently on special for $89 with 85gb for first year)
        - Gomo 30 days - $15/30 days + 8gb (with data banking + volte + vowifi)
        - Boost mobile 1 year - ~$152 from ebay and others + 140gb (full Telstra network + volte + vowifi)

      • I'm assuming you can easily port numbers with woollies prepaid?

    • +1

Should add all these cheaper plans to the main post.

      On Optus
Catch Connect 365-day $89/365 days + 85GB - Offer ends 12/04/22 (though comes and goes) ~$7.42/7.08GB per month.

      • yeh thats got to be the best value for low fee plan atm

        • Best value at the moment. Wish the 6*28 day Amaysim deals came back, would be perfect to tide over.

      • Thanks for this, I joined this plan.

      • any optional/feature for roaming?

        • No, don't think so.

  • Were they bluffing and hoping everyone left voluntarily?

    I just had a recharge at $10

  • Hmmm just had 2 recharges both was 10 each
    See what happens next month

    • They did say April - maybe everyone jumped prematurely and this was their way to clean us out?

I’m down to my last $10 credit so I’ll be porting out end of the month - sad to see the $10 plan end

      • My friend got charged $15 end of April as she was still deciding her next move.

        • Did she get an email prior?

You will receive an email from us, ahead of your plan change giving you enough notice. We will be moving customers at different times and letting them know via email.

        • +1

me, still $10 - last invoice due date 4/5/2022, issued on 4/5/22 service period 4may-3jun 2022

          • @CyberMurning: same date, but got charged $15 :(

            • @powerhead: I may have credit (from referral) if that makes any difference.. but i have paypal link so they can take 10 and 5 if they want

  • I’ve also ran out of data, which was planned

Yes I’ve been restricted / but still going between 16/22 and 35/22….

I’m actually considering paying the $10 (or is it $15) just to see what happens!!

  • Not yet closed off my account, so now paying $15/month.
Just got an email from Belong saying they're permanently upping data to 5GB/month.
Not the best on the market, but $15/month + 5GB not the worst

  • Merged from Belong Mobile $10 Mobile Plan Being Retired Soon, Existing Users to Be Migrated to $15 Mobile Plan

I did a quick search, couldn't find any previous forum threads, that specifically discussed this upcoming mobile plan change:

EDIT: … and I just found an older forum post "Belong Force Migrating All $10/Mth Plans to $15/Mth from April" by himargin … d'oh!

… um, I guess this forum post I just submitted is a bit redundant then haha

    • I got an email from my current mobile phone service provider, Belong Mobile, as I'm using their $10 mobile plan (1GB data).
    • Using the email's embedded link, it redirected me to this page on the Belong Mobile website:
Changes to our $10 mobile plan

    What's changing?

In March 2021 we stopped selling our $10 mobile plan to new customers and will now be retiring the $10 plan for good. We will be moving anyone still on it over to our $15 plan over time. This plan comes with 5 GB of data a month – which is only available to our existing customers.

New plan and data - $15 Mobile Plan 5 GB/month
Current plan and data - $10 Mobile Plan 1 GB/month

Where can I find out more about the $15 plan?

Check out the Belong Mobile Critical Information Summary (PDF).

    Why was this change made?

Over the years we’ve accumulated a whole range of different mobile plans.

We’ve had a good look at how to simplify our plans, and we’ve tried to strike a balance by having a few different options that are inexpensive but still give people plenty of data to play with. Unfortunately, that means we’re saying goodbye to our $10 mobile plan.

How will I know the date of my plan change?

You will receive an email from us, ahead of your plan change giving you enough notice. We will be moving customers at different times and letting them know via email. So, it’s important to make sure your contact email address in your account is up to date. Read our support article for more help. How do I update my email address?

How does this change affect my service?

Your monthly plan cost will change to $15, and your data allowance will increase to 5 GB. Everything else stays the same, including any international calls and text or data top-ups you might have applied.

What if I don’t want to move to the $15 mobile plan?

If the plan no longer suits your needs, you can cancel your service using the Belong app or change to another plan.

Why am I being changed to the $15 plan, but my friend/partner’s $10 plan isn’t?

We will be retiring the $10 plan for good and moving customers at different times, so if you haven't received a message from us yet you will be notified in due time and provided enough notice before your change happens.

    When does my plan change?

Once your plan switches from the $10 plan to the $15 plan, you will receive a text when it's completed. Your plan cost will change from the date listed in your email or text.

Can I change to the $15 5 GB plan earlier?

Yes, to change your Belong mobile plan, log in to your Belong account and select 'Manage'. From there, simply pick the $15 5 GB plan. You can change plans once per monthly payment cycle.

    What happens to my bill?

Your service will be switched over to the new plan on the date listed on your email or text – and from that date onward you’ll automatically be billed $15 per month. We’ll send you a text once it’s been completed.

Can I move to a different plan after the rate plan has changed to $15?

You will have to wait until your next payment cycle to be able to change plans again.

Question for OzB folks here - if I don't like Belong Mobile's new $15 mobile plan … what are some alternative(s) for a different mobile phone provider that I can consider?
    • My mobile phone user habits in a nutshell :- I never really reach the 1GB/month data limit (e.g. mostly using Google Maps, Waze for driving directions, messenger apps to communicate with friends and family, I very rarely watch any videos, I very rarely open/look at social media apps) whilst on my Belong Mobile's $10 plan, so I was fairly content with the low $10/month cost.
    • A long while back, when I last shopped and did comparison research amongst the various mobile phone providers given my usage habits, I was weighing up both Belong Mobile and Woolworths Mobile … and I ended up choosing Belong Mobile and ported my mobile number moved away from Amaysim.

With this announcement however, I am now considering moving to a different mobile phone provider where its cheaper than $15/month, and I still don't see myself making use of more than 1GB / month in terms of mobile data.

    • I feel a bit out of the loop, with what's currently good bang-for-buck in terms of monthly costs, and for me with my low data usage habits … so thought I'd ask OzB folks here, in addition to doing another round of research on my own … thanks in advance!
    • That's bizarre, I got this email in Jan this year and was switched over immediately

      • huh, I must be one of the 'stragglers' - I was completely unaware of this change, until I opened the email I received from Belong today (Thursday July 28th)

      • +1

i got too in jan but never got switched over. and now i got the same email. maybe real this time.

    • … and I just found an older forum post "Belong Force Migrating All $10/Mth Plans to $15/Mth from April" by himargin … d'oh!

… um, I guess this forum post I just submitted is a bit redundant then haha

If any moderator(s) is reading this, feel free to delete this forum post? … and I'll just head over onto that existing forum post, read previous comments/replies to see if they can answer my question (about looking for an alternative mobile phone provider)

    • +1

Circles, 5 GB for $10 Optus network with volte and vowifi as well

    • I received the email in April and got the family onto the Amaysim ($60 for 12 months) deal. But I forgot to buy it for me before the deal expired. Luckily I am still only being $10. Not sure how long I’ll last though.

  • Only this afternoon (Thursday July 28th 2022) I received an email from Belong about this recent $10 mobile plan existing users -> $15 mobile plan migration. A little weird, as I had not received any emails about this change, so I was actually completely unaware of this migration … whereas others apparently have been notified since around January this year(!) …

I've been told (as an existing $10 mobile plan user), that my plan shall be migrated over in early September 2022. Before that happens, I now want to look around for an alternative mobile phone provider, whose plan is cheaper than $15/month, as I don't even reach the 1GB/month limit, so the 5GB data allowance isn't really a plus point for me personally.

… anyway, so I'm trying to catch up and sift through people's previous comments/replies on this thread, and see if I can decide on next steps

    • +1

I already ported over two of my $10 Belong accounts to Amaysim 365 days plan that normally retails for $120/year I believe? But on special, they are usually $99 or less, which is less than $10/month.

  • +1

Got my follow-up email from belong
Getting changed to $15 plan in Sept.

Had 2 months free from OZB referrals
    Thanks whoever that was :)

    • Does Belong not want customers or something.. not even trying to make appear better value by bumping up the quota.

(Think this is what you meant to link)

    • $15 plan was a $10, gotta love Telstra.

      • +1

        Have never loved Telstra!
