Looks like the answer is no. No more emails and not connected.

  • Can anyone help? I am currently a few days off finishing my 2 months of Telstra NBN special they had back on Telstra day (for $2). Do i need to contact telstra to cancel that subscription so i don't get charged another month and then organise to return their Telstra SGM. Or can i just sign up to Origin and they will change my service over for me without having to do anything?

  • Singed up, thanks OP

  • Ended up buying a Dahua NVR and ditching software NVR to get around CGNAT issues. Dahua NVR has P2P functionality which means the in-laws can easily access cameras as well (trying to get them to connect to a VPN whenever they want to access CCTV is taking the piss). This will also allow me to keep switching providers without having to worry about CGNAT.

    • Good choice.
The dahua NVRs are pretty solid, DMSS app is easy to navigate and a nice enough NVR GUI to boot.

      • I tried the cameras in DMSS first, worked great. So have purchased a dedicated NVR. It's been a lot of hassle running a PC just for Sighthound (in-laws wanted the object identification so ruled out BI etc and ease of use on iOS, the app doesn't work well on Android so the DMSS app is already miles ahead).

  • Just initiated a churn over from superloop to the 1000 plan.
Sort of shot myself in the foot a little as superloop don't pro-rata the 19 days of my paid plan back, so only gaining a month and a bit of free net.

While on the superloop site I checked my usage (never bothered to previously) and our house had used 762gb of data last month.
We don't 'download' other than the rare PS4 game, so that's all down to UHD streaming. I had no idea it used so much.

    • +1

Yeah sounds about right, UHD is mental

      • +1

        Looks so pretty though haha.
Especially with a lot of them adding Dolby vision/Atmos now too.

  • Origin Critical info sheet says they need to charge min 1 month. Since they're offering first 2 months free, does that mean they'll need to charge for the 3rd month before we can churn again?

    • Would like this confirmed as well before switching

  • they sent an email correction on Friday, so I now believe that you can switch before the end of the 2nd month and pay nothing.

"Unfortunately, due to a system error your confirmation email stated the incorrect total monthly cost. We're sorry for the confusion this might have caused.

You will still receive your First Two Months free. Your total monthly cost thereafter will be based on the plan you selected.

We’ve corrected the mistake and have resent the correct information so you have the confirmation of the monthly cost for the plan you have chosen.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly Support team on 1300 980 711.

Thanks for signing up to Origin Broadband and we look forward to having you as a Customer.

    Thank you.

    Cheers,
    The Origin Broadband team"

thanks op, trying this out from superloopy 100/40 churn to 1000/50. overkill!

    • Origin says my connection is now complete, yet any speed testing only results in 100/40 rather than the 1000/50 of origin, and the give away something isn't right is speedtests still list my ISP as superloop.

      • +1

        reboot your modem & router

        • Yeah tried that multiple times, next step is to reset the modem but given I've 'supposedly' moved from superloop to origin with same connection type and having fttp is shouldn't make any difference.
Usage is still climbing on superloop so that connection is still active. Origin have no kind of usage meter (or anything useful for the user at all for that matter) so can't check if anything is active.
Only 1 line is active on the connection box according to lights (unid1).
I haven't had the time to make phone calls and be on hold but Origin seem to think they've connected me, sending invoice for first bill etc. So thinking they may have connected the wrong property.

          • +2

@2023: if you are still get all superloop details then it's reasonable to think Origin haven't done the transfer, though it'll be nbn's fault I'd bet

      • How old is your router? If the WAN on your router is not 1gbe then you wont get the full beneift of 1000mbit connection.

        • Still running an older testra smart modem, but 1gb Ethernet so no issue there.

I still have superloop IP address. Sent origin an email and they replied back that they have no account related to my email address and so to call them with additional information (which was also supplied with a detailed description of the issue).
Problem is I'm still on holidays for another week so not even in the state, hard to troubleshoot from here.

  • Do these plans come with a phone line too? If so, is it easy enough to churn that also?

  • when you select 1000M plan, they said
    Total min. charge $154

So I think at least we need to pay one month

    • In the confirmation email:

      Total monthly cost
Your first 2 months are free.

After your discount expires, your total monthly cost will be $154

  • Signed up and used a credit card for payment that is no longer active will there be any issues for the first 2 months as it is free anyways

    • Nope. Cuz there’s no charge.

  • How are the current churn times from ABB?

    • 24 hours by the looks… ouch.

      • Where can you check this?

        • +1

          By contacting "support" I guess.

    • +1

My churn time was less than 2 hours. Previous HFC service with ABB was stopped around 6am and sometime around 7.30 new service was online.

  • Is this offer still available, I forgot to sign up :(

    • No, was till midnight 7/3

      • DOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH

        • Doh indeed.
I thought the cuttoff was the 10th for some reason

  • +1

So I just set this up on my old Exetel ZTE H268A, in WAN setttings it was same as ABB for FTTN

    DSL = PTM
    Type = IP
    Auth = none (uses DHCP)

Reset modem and it works. Speeds are a bit unstable at present

    • +1

I’m having odd speed issues, it’s around 43mbps when it’s supposed to be over 90 after just coming from Telstra (100mbps FTTN)

      • Good for you. I have only around 20mbps all the time on 100mbps FTTP.

    • +1

      Type = IP
      Auth = none (uses DHCP)

Thanks for the heads up, I was searching for PPPoE config and forgot that ABB is just IPoE

  • This guide was super helpful, used Oracle Cloud and my linux system running Plex, radarr, sonarr, etc.
Didn't take long to set it all up: https://github.com/mochman/Bypass_CGNAT/wiki

  • Can anyone advise how long the connection took to complete? I set my connection date as the same day my current NBN plan will be ending, and I'm not sure if this was a mistake and I could have no internet for a few days.

    • +1

I got emails at 8:30am saying it was happening and it was completed ready to go at 9:01am, had it set for last Friday, I planned for a delay but it happened on the day

  • Hi guys, signed up to connect after 14/3 (today), but still no connection. Moving from mate to origin, did I need to put in a day earlier (which was a Sunday?).

    • +2

They activate anywhere from 8-11AM weekdays.

      • Thanks yes got message later. Happy days, will see how I go connecting when I go home later.

  • Had a "Don't connect before" days of 15/03 (today). No word yet of my connection although my existing connection with ABB is down…

Also can't see any active services when I log in to Aussie bb. Wonder what's happening - haven't yet called ABB to disconnect

    • Same here, hopefully connected within 2 hours

      • I called them. There was a problem with NBN which is hopefully sorted now..should get connected in the next couple of hours by their reckoning

    • +1

reboot everything too, mine was down for 40mins and was eventually working before I received a sms saying my connection was active

    • It worked now. Had to call them for them to sort out some issue from NBN end. Once done I was online within the hour

      • Mine just came on, didn't have to reboot or call, maybe you set the ball in motion though for them to fix things

Now to wait/hope for another free offer.

    • why not go for 1000mbps plan?

      • Their location doesn't support it?

        • Correct

          • @Joshminey: I have subscribed for 1000mbps plan (yet to be connected)…….I am thinking, will it support at my place or not plus does it require any special modem or etc…

            • +1

@s0805: If the website let you sign up to 1000/50 it should be supported the website only let me select 100/20 as the fastest speed due to FTTN

              • @Joshminey: thanks for explaining….i am going from 25mbps to 1000mbps…I assume don't need new modem or something….existing modem supporting 25mbps should work?

                • +1

@s0805: Should work fine if it is somewhat new

  • My connection was just activated but is getting 93/46 :/

    • why not go for 1000mbps plan?

      • +1

See the 46 upload? That IS the 1000/50 plan.

I would first check for bottlenecks like router, cable, ethernet port, but assuming that none exist, contact support for help.

    • looks like you are on wifi 2.4ghz?

      • +3

Mystery solved: I was using dodgy ethernet cables. Weeeeee!.

  • does anyone know how to manage my broadband account? registered on origin website however it seems like for electricity/gas only?

    • You can't

  • Did anyone future date the order past the expire date of promotion?

    • +1

      Yes, April 1st.

    • Yes 24th March. Got connected today.

  • sigh, anyone had issue churning to origin nbn where they force you to takeover your existing connection?

I'm now without internet until nbn calls me to fix it (router cant even get an ip now)….

  • How long did it take people to change companies? My scheduled date for the change was today and the internet went down at about 8:45am but I still have not heard anything from origin about the new login details. I was with Aussie broadband on FTTN and no speed changes.

    • Did you restart your modem/router. There were no login details in my case. Just had to reset modem to dynamic IP as I was with Dodo. They should send you a sms soon saying “your nbn service is now ready”I didn’t check what time they disconnected old service but got sms @ 9.02 am

      • same as this. all I needed to do was Dynamic IP, but end up waiting for their tech support…haaa

      • Yes I rebooted the router. I was with Aussie broadband so all settings should be the same as before right? I rang origin a couple of hours ago and they said I was on a list to activate, but they would push it through straight away. They said it could still take another 20 minutes to three hours before it was up. It's been 2 hours since then and I am still waiting…

        • I just got connected a little while ago. All up it took about 6 hours since the internet went down to getting connected with origin. Seems to be working fine now. Thanks.

  • If my service isn't connected by now today (almost 1pm AEDT), does that mean I won't be connected til tomorrow? My previous connection went down at 1am AEDT (about 12 hours downtime so far). Churning from ABB for reference.

    • What type of connection do you have? FTTN?

      • FTTC. I ended up getting connected after about 16 hours. Bit longer than I expected, but I also had it call them a couple times.

  • My connection date is 1 April 2022 but I haven't heard from them yet.
They sent an email earlier that they will contact closer to the date but didn't hear anything from them yet.

    • I was contacted on the day of connection, so most likely you’ll get a message tomorrow morning.

    • Hi there, my connection date is 1/4 as well.
How did you go with yours so far?

My NBN box(FTTC) got no lights for DSL and LAN and I have rebooted about 8times with no luck as of 7:35am now..

I used the trick to get Myaussie app. username, but can't use the forgot password to get the password. Their support won't be open until 8am. Getting a bit nervous now…

      • ABB closed that loophole so you cannot access the myaussie app

        • You're right about that.

    • I also had mine for today. I got the emails at 8:30. Just checked now, and working fine. https://www.speedtest.net/result/12973417850

      • Update - Got transferred automatically at around 10.30 today morning. Speedtest shows 750/42. Pretty happy with speed and service till now.

Got an email from my old provide Aussie BB at the same time that we are sorry that we you are leaving. Their email also mentioned that I will pro rata credits if I call them. I still have 7 days left in the plan. I called them to cancel my plan and asked them about credits and they said you won't get any credits.

Just wanted to share my experience.

      • Downloads seem to be capped at under 100Mbps this evening. https://www.speedtest.net/result/12975269605 It was working fine this morning, see comment above. Nothing has changed. Direct connection to PC from the NTD.

  • My connection date is tomorrow. But they connected me today.

  • got connected on the 29 March. All working fine.
How are you guys managing your account? There is nothing in my origin account dashboard pertaining to NBN connection, only shows my electricty/gas account profiles. Even the Origin app is not showing anything related to NBN.

    Thanks

    • I'm not. They also didn't even bother responding to my email about my speed issues. I suspect that email isn't monitored, and is just a cut and paste from Aussie.

My account management will consist of cancelling at the end of the free period.

      • I email them and got a respond. They do not have a website for you to login that's only for gas. There is a beta iOS app.

When they first email me they question which website l login into. So there clueless.

My plan is to leave Origin at the end of the 2 months. Considering if l should do the FTTN to FTTP upgrade. Hopeful some of the other RSP get there stuff together so l can upgrade on a discounted 12 month NBN 100 plan. The NBN 250 plans are a joke. Some of the expected speeds are like 210 with Harbour ISP.

      • So 10 days later, I finally get a response. It's working fine now, so not an issue. Still 10 days is kind of bad for a response to an email.

    • My origin account dashboard does show my internet service which basically takes you to a skinned ABB portal.

  • Got connected today don't know about speed because I'm currently not home

  • +3

Been with Origin for a month with the trial and it has been pretty sub-optimal. Had quite a few connectivity issues, dropouts, unavailability etc etc. Horrible when still WFH. Going to be switching back to Superloop or something else.

    • Interesting, mine's been fine, it's white labelled ABB so should be one of the best providers you could be with.

      • Yeah I know, I was with AussieBB before and they were great. So I don't understand why I'm having so many issues with them as a white labelled AussieBB.
