This has been cheaper - $238 in November and $208 earlier - but $262 is still a great deal IMO. These aren't sold as a pack together in Australia but in-store the powerhead (PH1400E) is $299 and the edger attachment (EA0800) is $199.

This is rarely in stock - I've been waiting since November.

Mod Update 15/03: Price has dropped to $259.57

  • Great deal and great bit if kit

  • +1

I'm balls deep in dewalt :/

Want a ryobi scarifier/dethatcher & this looks good too 🤣😭

    • Dewalt has some great gear in the garden range.

      • +1

Waiting on a good deal for the hedge trimmer & pole trimmer!

Only garden tool I have so far is the 54v blower. Picked that up with the 9ah 18v batt for $500, redeemed the drill, flogged that for $150. So $350 for the blower and battery 👌

        Sucks they don't have a scarifier/dethatcher 😭

        • I have the hedger and its great. Thinking of getting the new 54V XR FLEXVOLT SPLIT BOOM and add on attachments over time.

  • Bunnings have been OOS for the Ozito 18V PXC one for ages, seems to be back now, but skin only for $159. Anyone seen it in a kit before?

    • +1

They’re back in stock FYI, at least around me in Melbourne. I was thinking of buying one before this came up last night and I jumped on it.

      • Thanks for the info. Might be able to order one through my local here in QLD. Hope the EGO one goes alright for you!

  • +1

Usual warning: buying the other heads standalone means that if you want a few heads this deal is NOT worth it.

The better option in that case is to get the Australian kit during the periods where they have a free battery redemption. Although, they keep upping the minimum spend for redemption because they are fools so ymmv.

    • As in, better to buy in bulk and get more heads at once?

      • There's a kit. Get that kit. The edge is easier to source separately at a better price.

        • I've been weighing this up, the kit can be better value if you time it right.
I want the edger and the hedge trimmer attachment, already in the eco system don't really need batteries but always nice to have extras.
So can get the Amazon deal (currently $260 for multi head and edger) +$269 hedge trimmer attachment=$529

Now the best case scenario for value for money is waiting for Ego to run their battery promo (spend $800 for 2.5ah battery). You can also time that with 1 of Sydney Tools or Total Tools running their bonus point days which. With that in mind.
Purchase Hedge trimmer kit for $749 (multi head, 2.5ah battery, slow charger, hedge trimmer, pole extender)
Edger attachment $199. Also better off spending $52 on something to get the $200 bonus points instead of $100.
Total $1000 and get $200 store credit and 2.5ah battery redemption
So really spending $471 extra to get 2x 2.5Ah batteries, pole extender ($99 value), slow charger and $200 store credit.
It's obviously better value for money but at the same time I don't actually need those extras and living in a regional area would be difficult to sell. Now what would sway this further was if Ego added the bonus pole saw to the hedge trimmer kit again (They had that about 12 months ago).

          • @donkcat: Do you know when Ego run their battery promo's and Sydney/Total tools run their credit promo? Finally ready to pull the trigger and increase my ego lineup. Otherwise, this Amazon deal for me is a great price on the edger + power head

            • -1

@Villainous: Ego normally run their battery promo later in the year from about September to end of December, they did run it in June as well last year for end of financial so they may do that again. Sydney Tools/Total Tools run their promo a couple of times each year, I think a pretty consistent one is ran in June for end of financial (normally for 3 days only these promos run), another 1 to look out for who run these promos and sell Ego is Trade Tools. Personally I bought the amazon kit yesterday, I wasn't happy with the job I did edging with my trimmer on the weekend and couldn't be bothered waiting for the deal I mentioned above.

              • @donkcat: Cheers, yeh i bought my original Ego line trimmer from Trade Tools. Had it around 4 years now and it's been great for edging but this edger is hopefully going to be a step up. I usually need to do a few passes to get a nice edge with the trimmer ie regulat grip trim back then a vertical grip drop in then maybe another finishing pass (ocd). My foothpath/driveway are very rough with alot of visable stone through it and just chews through line. I do both my neighbours nature strips (mow, edge, blow) plus the lady on the corner block which is really overgrown and is a foot + over the footpath of thick grass and soil. Have tried keeping under control with the trimmer and shovel but is too much work. Hopefully the edger will be a single pass through all of it saving time, trimmer line and give a better result. Ordered the edger from Amazon (couldn't wait either) but might wait till June to jump on a new mower, blower, attachments etc as the credit/battery bonus will make it worth it.

        • Would this be the kit?
          https://sydneytools.com.au/product/ego-mpss1001ex-56v-25ah-2…
Is this a good deal or should I wait for better deal?

Also, does the EGO mower perform better than the Dewalt 36V mower? I’ve got the Dewalt mower and not satisfied with it as it tends to cut out often even the grass is not long.

I was planning to purchase the Dewalt split shaft trimmer but changed my mind because I am thinking of getting the Allett battery cylinder mower, which run on the EGO battery system.

          • +1

@cheach: Thats a good deal. The line trimmer is free.

But there used to be a chainsaw head kit (your link) and a hedge trimmer head kit (not sure if still exists). Pick the one you want the most. Because those two heads are $$$

  • Ego is great gardening tools if you are just starting.

  • Hmmm.. tempting but already invested in Stihl batteries. Got the KMA 135R multitool on order, and it has an ETA of June.. very high demand. Not sure how Ego compares but I am happy with Stihl, seems to be the go to for professional gardeners/landscapers.

    • Stihl battery tools are most certainly not the go to for professionals

      • The new KMA 135 R is supposed to be equivalent to petrol powered and the long wait is due to the contractors all placing orders.. the battery stuff has improved a lot. I’ve seen gardeners using various tools with the backpack batteries regularly around my area. Petrol is still better for mowing but using both types obviously works for some, anything to reduce cost, fumes and noise is a benefit.

        • Sounds like something a car salesman would say. The mower has been tested against the ego 2130sp in the US and comes in a long way back. There is also not a single battery mower that goes lower than 25mm. Thick buffalo and couch still requires petrol torque or a cylinder mower

        • Stihl has too much vested interest and reputation in petrol tools and they'll soon become a dinosaur, just like Kodak not so long ago.

    • +1

Sorry I think you got misinformed. Professionals are still using petrol for what I see. And unfortunately Stihl isn't even close to the quality of ego.

Edit** just realised you would be seeing Stihl petrol equipment. Which is yes very good quality. Unfortunately my experience with their battery division is the opposite

    • Both high quality brands. Can’t comment on what the pros use but I have ego garden tools and am very impressed with them. The old man has Stihl already so switching to another ecosystem does not make sense for him but I also like using his Stihl gear when I help him out with the garden. Neither of us have had any problems with these two brands.

  • Need the power head but want the pole hedger attachment. Thoughts on buying this and trying to flog the edger cheap to fund what I need?

  • Great deal, thanks!

  • amazon au is not an authorised reseller you will only get amazon warranty ((1 year) not ego warranty (5 years) - also exempt from any ego australian promotions

In my experience they have very poor customer service. For those that don’t know EGO+ is a front company for Chevron Global (China)

    • +1

Cool. Gotta love those Chinese power tool companies. P.s. you might wanna check your spelling.

        • +3

Ha ha. How is that relevant mate? Bit stalkerish of you to go through my old posts. Are you ok?

        • +8

Not to mention pretty pathetic that you seem to be having a laugh about a guy who openly admitted to having mental health struggles. Do you often make fun of people's health problems?

    • I have found ego’s customer service to be excellent… why does it matter who the parent company is? Chervon is also an ODM manufacturer for some of the power tools sold under the Bosch, Makita, and Milwaukee brands.

  • +4

Can't beat ego garden tools! I jumped on this pack when it was slightly cheaper, but this is still a great deal if you already have the Ego battery system.

  • +2

Seems to be back in stock (was 5x, now 3x)

    • … and out of stock again!

  • Edger Attachment & Power Head Battery & Charger Not Included, is it still work?

    • +2

You will need to purchase a battery and charger for this to work.

  • yeh ego is great but the batteries are expensive and there doesn't seem to be any 3rd party adapter/knockoff solution.

in the next few weeks i'll be trying to repack some worn out egos with fresh cells.. fingers crossed.

    • +1

I read somewhere that these are near identical:
      https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=S…

      • hmm.. dunno why they didn't come up in my searches. cheers.

knockoffs typically under-perform (source: youtube project farm tests, my own experience etc)

but if my repack skills fail me, perhaps I'll try one of those out.

I'll be honing my 'skills' on some dewalt packs first.

    • I’ve picked up a few second hand on Facebook marketplace. Always test before handing over the cash. Maybe I have been lucky but all are still functioning well.

      • +1

yeah I would need to feel they are an honest person, with a legit reason for the sale.

i guess you'd wanna run a tool on the battery for some amount of time.. see if there's a noticeable drop in rpm/power.

        • Precisely. I've been lucky but you can also test the battery with a multimeter.
