  • why not say if its USB 2.0 or 3.0 or 1.0 ?

      • +3

I had one USB 1.1 Flash drive before, even some of my friends got some but it's very rare.

        • -1

          1.1 is not 1.0 :)

      • why is everyone negging this? If you have proof that 1.0 exists..post it.

    • +2

The 5th photo on the website actually shows it is USB 2.0

  • Picked up 2, thanks

  • +1

Meh, just ordered a Sandisk 8GB off eBay for $5.99 delivered. Is this any better?

    • +14

gonna be a whole load better if your eBay one is a fake ;)

      • +4

How do you know this isn't Dingston?

  • +2

Shame there is no bottle opener on it:)

  • +2

Seems to get pretty fast speed ratings according to the reviews on MWave: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/SKUSearch.asp?px=FO&scriteria=BA3…

I might pick up a couple, thanks OP!

    • +3

From a review: "I got 23MB sequential read and 9MB sequential write"

  • +2

These are great drives - not sure about speedwise [they're not slow but there's probably faster] but I've had a few of them for years and they have never let me down :)

  • awesome price just got one..

  • I still don't get how this is a bargain as $5.99 for 8GB Sandisk is the "normal" price with eBay sellers…

    • +2

reputation, warranty, quick delivery, guarantee of a original product, supporting OZ business…

      enough reasons for you?

      • +1

Er, I am supporting Aussie business because the eBay seller is Australian.

        • +3

How about every other point he mentioned?

        • +2

I don't know if Sandisks warranty is 5 years or not, but who is still using USB sticks they bought in 2007? What was common then, 1GB?

        • +6

          i still got a 64MB usb from 2006

        • +1

2006, are you sure?! Cos I was using a 32MB in late 2002. 64MB would have been pretty small by 2006…

        • Hmm… I bought a 2GB Transcend USB stick for $99 from Tandy back in 2006. Still have it and works flawlessly

        • +2

          I'm still using 128MB for bootdisk :)

  • Just got 2. Nice one.

  • seems nice, but I already got one, to be or not to be…

and it says it doesn't like my postcode, I know I got it right, stupid thing

    • +1

got the same error, reloaded the page and it seemed to work.

      • Me too but I tried again like you said and it worked. Thanks.

  • Cheers, just grabbed a couple, they will replace the crappy Sandisk 8GB i bought the other day (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68592).

    • whats wrong with it? I've been using mine for over a year but the 16GB VERSION

      • Incredibly slow and keeps crashing my work PC (using it purely for a .pst file)
BTW i'm talking about the Sandisk one, not the Kingston one

        • Yeah I have the sandisk one, did you try reformating it?, it will get rid of the ugly sandisc icon too. Only problem i had with it is the little loop hole for the key ring has cracked. Your right though it's quite slow though.

  • +6

Dammit if only there was a 16gb with that amount of discount :/

    • on the site for $15.99 with 2 bux shipping :) not cheap but not too exp

    • Agreed. 8GB is sooo 2009 lol

  • Regarding speed, if you believe the figures on this table: http://usbspeed.nirsoft.net/?vid=2385&pid=5698 - then the following speeds are fairly much what you might hope to expect from this device for sequential read and writes. Not lightening, but not poor.

    Median
    Read: 18.4 MB/Sec
    Write: 5.5 MB/Sec

    Average
    Read: 19.0 MB/Sec
    Write: 5.9 MB/Sec

  • Thanks OP, got one. $6 can't go wrong….

  • Thanks OP

  • I just bought one from ebay for $7.80 and then see this bargain :((.

  • Got 2 of these. Good thing I hesitated on the DSE deal for the cruzer - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68592

  • +1

My 2 arrived today - 4.2MB/s write and 15MB/s read.
Can't really complain for $6 each. Thanks OP.

  • These look to be back in stock. Anyone else waiting for their order? I'm still waiting.
