Msi ventus / gaming x trio also this price

Updated deal to MSI Gaming X, as its superior than the other 2. Also seeing too much gigabyte recently.

HODL if you can! Buy only if you badly need one right away.

    Mining is falling.
Intel is planning to induce millions of GPUs this year.
Its almost EOL for these series in a few months. New GPUs for the same price will be way faster.
Once miners start selling 2nd hand GPUs, this will fall way further.
Lastly, the more you buy, the more the prices dont fall and this is NOT a good price.

      • +27

I don't think he's suggesting that we buy 2nd hand cards from miners, but rather the market will be flooded with them and manufacturer (and in turn retail) pricing will drop to meet the new supply and demand.

But agree, safer to pay x% over pre-owned for peace of mind for such a large purchase.

          • +9

@[Deactivated]: Actually I was. I was saying prices will fall further when 2nd hand GPU enters the market which is true. But eventually, its upto people what they want to buy when both are available as mined card can be a gamble!

But to say retailers provide job is not a supporting statement I would stand behind. Why? Becuase they already made thier profit when they sold thier card to the miners. Not just profit. chit loads of profit. They literally milked us.

            • +1

@John Doh: I'm pretty certain (but obviously could still be wrong) that manufacturers (ASUS, MSI etc.) are the ones that set a higher wholesale price to Retailers. It's not as though ShoppingExpress or other stores are buying these cards for $500 and selling them for $1600 over the last 2 years.

Sure, some would take advantage as it's business at the end of the day and they're in it to make money, but it's not a fair statement to say all retailers are screwing consumers over.

              • @mrnugget: Am not saying everything is made by them. But a decent part of it. How else do you justify techfast deals whose prices were much lower?

                • +1

@John Doh: Techfast and other retailers we see here frequently probably just do a better job of either moving stock through bundling their packages, lower margins and keeping up with consumers who are aware of the changes in the market (obviously why they post here and continue to do so in the first place). That's why you also see comments from people who have ordered x months ago saying they don't have it yet - that's because Techfast would have purchased the cards from the manufacturer or distributor at a lower price (not using previous/old stock they bought for a higher price pre-market change). It's not because they don't have enough staff to build X PCs resulting in a 2-3 month delay.

Let's say a retailer buys an RTX3070 back in Nov 2021 from a distributor for $1200 - they list it for $1600 and have since not been able to sell it. It's now March 2022. What would you do as a retailer?

Supply (to consumers willing to pay) hasn't been an issue for a very long time.

Obviously this is oversimplifying it as there are a ton of other factors to consider.

                • @John Doh: Techfast and other prebuilt makers skimp out on other components that aren't the gpu/cpu. Either by using old stock that isn't selling for various reasons/no name branded parts.

                  • @JerraJones: If you compare the prices it was not just that. We know that.

          • @[Deactivated]: If you really want to save people money you'd tell them to keep holding.

The cards prices are in freefall.

            • -2

@Ahbal: I didn't say to buy or hodl, I just posted to deal. Don't shoot the messenger.

              • @[Deactivated]: I have a few mining rigs, with the profitablity tanking I've pulled one apart and am using one of the GPU in my media centre PC. That card (rx580) has been mining non stop 24/7 for 4 years+. I'm now playing games in it and it works fine. In all my cards (35+) I have only ever had one fail, that was rx470 which was mostly my fault anyways as I flashed the incorrect bios and overvolted it. You'd be surprised how tough GPUs are…

                • @splitatom: Hmm, I thought RX570 is every miners best friend? I don't mine with AMD btw, only ngreedia.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: You're clearly just totally ignoring what he's writing and are waffling on… keep going.

    • there is a good chance the 30 series will be sold along side the 4000 series since one is made by samsung and the other is TSMC. The pcie standard may also have a small part since a lot of people arnt going to want to change their PSU to run a newer GPU and there isnt a lot of info on adapters

      • Isn't it 2x 8 pin to the new one? Or is that current 3090? New psu isn't big dollars anyways if you spending $1500+ for a gpu.

      • +1

Not all aib partners will use newer pin configuration. Just like ampere.

    • Thats what I keep telling my boy, the more we hold, the more we save!

        • +3

          You comparing Petrol with GPU???

          • -3

@kaikor: GPU is essential for gamers, unless you like indie games on integrated graphics.

    • Apart from the neon gas crisis emerging. The manufactures say they are ok near term, but beyond that here we go again…

    • Agree that this is still too expensive for a 3070 Ti. But I wouldn't count on Intel's new GPUs just yet. Nobody knows how they will perform and at what quantities Intel will be able to produce them. Not to mention that it is unlikely that a first-generation product, manages to outperform NVIDIA out of the gate.

      • At least according to leakers, the problem Intel is having are the drivers. Seems like the cards themselves are either ready or well on the way, but getting them to work properly with games is proving a lot harder

    • -2

This is identical to what people were parroting weeks before the 3000 series came out, when we were seeing $999 2080Ti's.

This is going to be the lowest price we see these before they're gone, and then it's going to be the same cycle of having no cards available at all

      • +1

There were couple of reasons for that, Mining peaked and samsung yeilds were bad and AMD had CPU, PS5, XBOX and RDNA GPUs to produce. Hence everything got derailed. Hope this thime its gonna be better. But still, the 4XXX GPUs for this price would be a lot faster. Cant deny that.

I like to buy high and sell low

Then you better hand your OzBargain membership back.

      OZBI wants your location now.

  • +1

    You’re welcome.

  • can't decide between the 3070 ti and rx 6800

    constantly changing my mind

    bah

    • +2

Not much in it. More vram VS dlss

      • amd

        • linux support
        • x2 ram
        • more brute power
        • power efficiency

        nvidia

        • next gen scaling dlss
        • better ray tracing
        • slightly cheaper ~$100 (yet more expensive rrp)

if i can get the 6800 for the same price as the cheapest 3070 ti that would probably do it for me

      • +2

For me, DLSS is the killer feature. That's what is going to help with longevity more than anything. It'll mean that I can still play games at a (DLSS-upscaled) 1440p@60 or better a few years down the line. The larger memory configuration of AMD cards is perhaps more relevant when playing at 4K. Raytracing is still too much in flux to matter all that much. I fully expect the upcoming RTX 4000 to greatly expand on this. To a point where Raytracing on older-generation GPUs is hardly viable any more. Pretty much the situation with Raytracing on AMDs current-generation GPUs that do nominally support Raytracing, but lag so much behind NVIDIA that its pretty useless.

    • +2

3070ti. It's definitely the best value right now.

Well besides the lower end like the RX6600 which is actually the best overall value.

      • +1

i dunno mate, yeah if we are talking about rrp you are right but based on what you are getting.. i am not so sure

the biggest draw is the DLSS as badonde mentioned… but now there is speculation that FSR 2.0 is massively improved some insider/review or something mentioned the words "jaw dropping", about to be released later this month

naturally i'd prefer to support the open standard approach that and FSR is suppose to be easy for devs to implement - all point to a long term and well adopted tech

        • +2

Agreed but DLSS is here, fsr2 is not. Gotta work on what we've got not future maybes

          • @Dvbargain: @Dvbargain: The implementation is spotty. Started playing Res Evil Village, RT but no DLSS. Unless you are playing new AAA, the number of supporting titles is pretty poor.

          • @Dvbargain: Exactly. I very much doubt that FSR 2.0 can ladder up to DLSS. AMD cards lack the tensor cores of NVIDIA's GPUs. Whatever AMD is doing to improve upon FSR has to make do with regular shaders.

            • +2

@maxbon: just pulled the trigger on a 6800 XT for $1440, seems like a decent price, well considering

way more than i need but seems like it's worth a few hundred more over a 3070ti

should be enough for thrill of the fight

    • Buy the MSI gaming X, best value so far.

  • +3

    HODL till reach $800

      • +2

You're like the clown jester of ozb gpu section. very entertaining, keep it up!

        • -4

I found hodlers are much more entertaining. amirite?

  • +2

I have seen 3080s for that price.

    so this isn't a bargin

    • Link please

      • He might be referring to some times in late 2020.

        • Oh way back when, I remember those days, said I would wait a few months after release when the sales start….

        • -3

He might be referring the time before you were born.

  • +1

Graphics card price free falling.. I love it! Can we soon get a RRP Card?!?!

    • +2

Even RRP for a card that's 2 years old and about to be replaced is bit…bad haha

  • +1

Hodl don't buy anything with 8gb vram if you're planning for long term.

  • Is this card good enough for Premiere Pro / Davinci Resolve?

  • good to see the prices are coming dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn

  • Someone bring out a cracker deal on a msi/evga 3080ti pleeease :p

  • +1

Thanks OP. Great timing as my son's Asus 3070 caught fire last weekend and I need to replace it :(

    • +1

Wow how terrible, hope you're getting an rma from asus

      • +1

I can't take a look until this coming weekend as he's in Sydney and I'm in Melbourne, but I'll try RMA it that's for sure. If I get a replacement then I guess I'll just have to replace my 1660 super with it :)

    • +3

This is the reason it's good that people are posting these deals, even if most people should be trying to HODL, it's great for the people that just can't because they have to replace a card, etc.

      • -1

HODLers hate my posts as the price is not $800. they just like boys nagging for pokemon cards. lol.

        • +2

One could argue that your regular posts showing the price going down is an incentive to HODL for everyone that can, so it's really not a bad thing for the community either way you look at it. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

          • @Erwark: A post is just a post, it shows price in title, does not mean one has to buy nor has to hodl.

You're one of the few that understands the game. Sadly not many do :)

  • +1

well i ended up buying one of these, it also came with a free razer keyboard, not sure how long they take to dispatch orders

    • which one did you buy, the keyboard must of came with a specific unit unless it was added after i purchased

      • -2

use coupon NON-HODL to get the keyboard.

      • i bought it on friday, so i think that promotion ended over the weekend

they didnt even advertise it on the page, i added it to my cart at the time and it was just there

    • +1

update: it took about 2-3 days to dispatch (not including the weekend), supposedly will arive the next day
