OZBARGAIN50PACKDISCOUNT

Hi everyone,

The Offer

$99 for 50 (ozbargain exclusive, discount code applied at checkout), FREE POSTAGE

The Background

Not associated with this business. Backstory is I purchased some and I did not know the seller. I sent them an email (wanted to know product was genuine) and they responded immediately. Seller (Joe, Sydney based) asked if he could call me and we had a decent long conversation. Mainly he was curious about how ozbargain worked as he was aware someone had posted them on ozbargain (they got increased sales that particular day).

From my perspective, REALLY happy with the masks. Had quite a few over the last 2 years but these are by far my favorite to date. Package arrived really fast, 100% genuine product. Listed on the AMD website as an authorised seller.

So different to the others I have worn, comfortable, snug. Its obvious to me the difference between these and cheaper knock-offs. Happy to answer any other questions you guys might have if I can otherwise I can send seller an SMS to get a quick response to your specific question.

Talked to the seller twice now on the phone, do not know each other. Just simply an awesome guy and I told him I'd be happy to put a post up and he was happy to provide a ozbargain only discount. Also emailed a mod about this deal to explain the connection of the ABN to his other business. In short you can see AMD themselves list the seller as
an authorised seller. (https://amdmed.com.au/)

Seller has a very close professional relationship with the founders of AMD and that is what lead them to be able to secure this stock.
In my humble opinion, absolutely terrific value for a small cost per unit inclusive of delivery. Under $2

Many State Governments are predicting rising numbers of covid cases due to BA.2 Omicron variant over next 2 months and as winter approaches, it may be a good time to buy to ensure you have stock in the event outbreak occurs and demand for P2 masks rises.

50 masks (FREE POSTAGE)

AMD’s NANO-TECH P2 Particulate Respirators feature advanced filtering and design details that allow them to be worn comfortably while maintaining their class-leading functionality over standard melt blown filter respirators. Cutting-edge nanofibre filters of the P2 respirator mask are incorporated into a face-contouring design that creates an effective barrier against potentially harmful airborne particles and aerosols such as dust, virus, and bacteria. Nanofibre technology ensures excellent breathability and lightness even with the assurance of four protective layers.

Technology: Nano-filters, comprised of nanofibres, deliver higher filtration efficiency than standard melt brown filters and are lighter and more breathable. A particulate respirator also maintains its functionality after exposure to moisture while typical filters lose their electrostatic properties once exposed to water. AMD’s nano-filters are water-resistant and protective against airborne particles, aerosols, and liquid.

Fit: Respirator P2 mask features an innovative three-panel design that fits naturally around the nose and mouth creating a better seal and aesthetic. Elastic ear loops hold the particulate respirator securely in place. A soft inner layer and moldable padded nose bridge wire provide extra comfort.

Comfort: Nano-filter respirators are lighter than standard respirators and allow enhanced breathability which allows them to be worn for hours. The three-panel design of the P2 respirator mask unfolds to shape naturally around the face maximising ventilation around the nose and mouth while still maintaining an effective seal to the environment. Nano-filter respirators are potentially viable options for populations with breathing restrictions such as the elderly and those with heart and lung conditions.

Packaging: Each nano-filter particulate respirator is individually packaged for hygiene and designed to fold flat to facilitate portability and storage. Individual wrapping makes it convenient to carry and distribute without contamination. 50/Box.

100% guarantee my 13+ year ozbargain membership on it. I wrote this speil a couple of weeks back - spoken a few times more. I'll post a little more of what he said here. Won't find a better seller. Guy is a legend.

This is more of what he SMSed to me when I explained the attribute issue.
Hi (my real name) thanks for that. All the issues are easily resolved….is there someone i contact? Seller is Respirator Masks (trading name). Different to legal entity. This is a very common thing, so i dont know what I am to do? We clearly disclose Bikeshare Pty Limited in the Terms of Service. I have added our ABN in the Terms of Service. In relation to contact details, we dont provide phone number as we dont want to be bombarded with phone enquiries.(OP again here saying that I have direct access to his mobile number and will happily ask him any question you have) This affects cost of product. Customers email us and we respond via email, providing our phone number to the person enquiring. This has worked well for the 5 months we have been in operation. Our business address is my home address, so dont really want to have that on a website. This is not uncommon for small businesses. I am not sure what spelling mistakes, as the example he gave is really a caps (capital letters) issue, not a spelling issue. Moreover, as discussed we appear on AMD's website as approved stockist. Please advise what u think is required to satify any concerns. Happy to get anyone on a call with AMD or provide invoices. Cheers Joe

      • Understand. Thanks for doing the research and negotiation. Ordered.

        • Cheers. You won't have any regrets and if you do, I promise I'll address any single concern anyone has direct to the seller - I have his mobile, email, everything. He will not let you down. He is a real customer centric guy.

          • +3

@seamonkey: Understand. That's common for a tight margin low overhead business. Can't expect Apple 5-star customer centre without paying Apple price tag ;-)

            • @Buy2Much: Indeed @Buy2Much

              • +1

@seamonkey: Are you getting anything (kickbacks/discounts/free masks or other items/money) in return for your assistance on OzBargain?

                • +3

                  @b2dz: Hi b2dz.

On my mother's grave, I swear not a thing. I am getting sellers gratitude, which is more than enough. Not a single mask, nothing. In fact, pretty sure I paid more than this current deal when I purchased mine. If seller was to offer any reward, I would kindly refuse. So is the ozbargain way. This is 100% about the community. What I love the most is it's not just the ozbargain community which I love, given we are talking masks, this is a nod to the bigger community - if it stops one single person catching covid - that'll be my reward. :) Cheers.

TLDR I will not get kickbacks/discounts/free masks or other items/money from this post.

    1. I'm not convinced on AMD's masks. Lots of reports of bad quality control. Holes in mask. Straps breaking at the weld point. Shipped in wrong boxes.
      https://twitter.com/maskupmelb/status/1491386111037689858

    2. At $2 per earloop, it's not really a bargain either. You can get NIOSH-approved N95 for <$1 at Sydney Tools https://sydneytools.com.au/product/benehal-8225-20pack-beneh…

    3. If you're willing to spend $3 per mask you can get the 3M Aura 1870+ which is also a NIOSH-approved N95 https://sydneytools.com.au/product/3m-xa010033554-20pack-aur…

    4. And no, an earloop P2 that hasn't been tested by the TGA is not equivalent to a headloop NIOSH N95 that has to be tested approved by NIOSH before it can even be marketed as N95. There's a reason why you never see hospital workers wearing earloops. It leaks too much.

    • +13

All good, just overclock the AMD and it will be N99 NIOSH approval not required

    • +1
      1. Can only say this seller shipped it to me with the correct box included in the packaging. Had no quality issues myself and I've used plenty now. That's just my take.

      2. Not available for Click & Collect. Please call ahead to confirm stock availability for in-store purchase.
Online Only. Seems like a lot of conditions to me. I don't know how they compare. Haven't tried them. They individually sealed?

      3. Almost a different market. More than a 50% premium on this post. Got to get what your happiest with though.

      4. I know little (nothing) of the mask tech world. I wear this one and it seals to the point when I do exaggerated breathing it offers me a far better seal than I ever could have expected.

Interesting to read your opinion. You appear to absolutely know your topic.

      • Seems to be an older batch has it embossed which was causing this QC.

@seamonkey are you able to confirm what type you have? The newer printed one or embossed one?

    • How does this compare to your link no.2 ?

      • +1

        N95s are better than KN95.
        Headloops are better than earloops.

On that basis this is inferior. Would not buy

        • +3

Yes but Eneloops are superior to headloops and earloops

        • +3

not necessarily, they are just different accreditation standards. N95 is american, P2 australian, KN95 chinese and KF94 korean etc etc

          • +3

@Halc: I don't particularly have the energy to explain, but safe to say if you google KN95 and research how well it is enforced and the % of fakes and substandard masks that have been found, then yeah you'll arrive at my conclusion too

            • +1

@brendan0: Fake or not is a completely different matter, lots of fake N95 going around too

              • @Halc: Or N95 standard which is not the same as N95 as its doesn't have the certification that come with getting it approved to sell at N95

    • +2

I'm not convinced on AMD's masks. Lots of reports of bad quality control. Holes in mask. Straps breaking at the weld point. Shipped in wrong boxes.

I had a box of 50 AMD masks and the quality and fit is totally fine. They do not fog up sun/optical glasses as easily as other mask designs. Being a tight arse, I used each several days before replacing, so a lot of on/off cycles. 'Never broke a strap. Hence I am buying the same brand/design again.

You can get NIOSH-approved N95 for <$1 at Sydney Tools https://sydneytools.com.au/product/benehal-8225-20pack-beneh…

That's an excellent price for N95 masks. But I am happy to pay extra for Australian made and certified (Benehal is made in China by Suzhou Sanical Protective Product Manufacturing Co).

    • +1

I see plenty of hospital workers and other health professionals wearing earloop AMD - not sure what your reference is…?

      • +2

Care to share which hospital, which department, and what kind of staff they were? It might be that those are the staff that are only required to wear surgical masks.

Also healthcare workers might be wearing the headloop AMD T4HL

If they're actually required to wear N95/P2 grade masks that are fit-tested, I'd be very very surprised if they are wearing earloop anything. There are no earloops in the Victorian government N95 stockpile https://www.health.vic.gov.au/ppe-supply-update-for-health-s…

        • I still bought these but I kid you not, I went to a hospital yesterday and they gave me 3M mask and told me not to you the AMD one as it doesn't last as long. Im not making any claims just what I experienced.

I'm really happy with my AMD mask. I don't wear it all day, just public transport and all.

    • Currently wearing 8210's, do you know anywhere with nicer looking (9310/9320 etc.) 3M headband masks in stock that aren't really pricey atm?

      • Cheapest you'll find is probably A$3 per mask for the Aura range

    • +1

How do we buy the 3m ones? It saids for healthcare professionals only?

    • Where can I find 3M 1870+ Aura — I saw on a dozen of sites, but they’re all for healthcare workers only. Is there any that sells to the general public?

  • How do these compare to 3M Aura 1870+?

    • +1

You and your 3M Aura 1870+ haha

      • +1

lol… i love wearing my 3M Aura 1870+ and face shield in the office.

        • +1

What kind of office work environment do you need to wear a face shield

          • +1

@brendan0: The Institute De Say it Dont Spray it.

    • +1

I haven't got a clue to be honest. I do think the sheer volume of fakes I hear around 3M has always made me a little nervous.

      • I think i bought some fake 3M's on ebay when I was desperate, but I think buying from an Australian safety supply store especially with a brick and mortar store is safe.

    • +4

Not sure about efficacy, 3M Aura has an extremely tight fight compared to these. If you are paranoid about breathing in any particulates go with the 3M. If you want something not as tight fitting but quite comfortable these will do the job. These are ear loops vs the headband of the 3M.

I have worn both for work daily between 6 to 8h a day and I personally wear the AMD ones now over the 3M.

      • thank you! that's interesting.

      • +1

If they use earloops only, they are not proper P2. To reach P2 rating and pass testing, it needs to use a clip to connect both ear loops together behind your head, or use a double headband like the Aura.

    • +4

These T4 masks do not compete with the 1870+ Auras. For me the ear loops don't provide enough pressure against the face to prevent leakage so it's more an improved surgical mask rather than a true N95/P2 respirator.

However, AMD also makes a headband T4HL medical respirator (https://www.australianp2mask.com.au/product/amd-nano-tech-p2…) which I find to be as good as the 3M 1870+ Aura. I find them equally comfortable - the Aura has a nicer nose foam but is more prone to sliding down my nose during a workday. The T4HL has a really nice and strong nose wire which prevents it from sliding down but the nose foam is prone to degrading and sticking to my face. Fit wise, the Aura seems to be more airtight initially but is prone to loosing seal integrity once it sits down my face.

      • awesome! thanks so much.

    • +1

I have tried both. The 3M Aura 1870+ is very tight fitting, and i find the red head band breaks too easily. The AMD earloops are much more comfortable and easy to breathe in. The seal is OK except alittle loose for me under the chin. I use the AMDs mostly, and reserve the 3Ms for very high risk exposure eg going to the doctors.

  • +6

Damn, prices really coming down with 3D and AM5 on the horizon.

  • +1

So much better than Mediatek or Exynos.

  • This company and the same masks were posted previously as a deal, but they aren't listed as an authorised distributor.

The product packaging and ARTG numbers/product photo (particularly logo) does differ to what I've received from an official seller, subtly though. Also different number in photo vs item description

Not sure if these are actually legit or knockoffs

    • Absolutely legit. The issues raised were the precise reason I contacted seller. I explained the issues, he gave the answers and it even involved me sharing it with a mod. Seller has a very close professional relationship directly with founders of AMD. These are genuine.

      • Yeah sorry, take that back, took a bit of digging but did find their website on the official AMD site, but for some reason only on one page, not on another. Pos vote as apology

        • Yes absolutely. Look at my ozbargain age. I wouldn't go out on a limb for anyone unless I'd received proof they were legit, awesome and will do right by all ozbargainers that buy. Thanks for saying that. It's a website seller wouldn't even have any ability to change.

  • +1

Wouldn’t consider this a deal, price was $99 pre-Christmas with free delivery then, but they are the cheapest of the authorised suppliers by a decent margin.
But irrespective I’d vouch for them being way superior masks to your standard blue surgical mask or other cheap alternatives which we won’t use again having used these.
I’ve bought from these from this seller and had no concerns at all about their authenticity on receipt.

    • +1

Yeah great masks. The margins are thin. My info tells me sellers aren't making as much on a box as we would probably expect.

      • I got that impression as well.
Low cost operator passed on those savings to the public.

  • +3

    Hey OzBargin Community

    1. My experience with the company is that they deal with issues quickly. Straps breaking might have occurred previously but I understand that has now been remedied. In any event, we are selling earloops which have not had a problem elastic ear straps;
    2. If you compare AMD P2 in price to N95, they stack up consistently well. Sydney Tools may have excess stock, but generally N95 are more expensive;
    3. AMD masks are made in Sydney, have passed P2 classification comfortably, also qualifying for Level 3 accreditation (filtration efficiency >98% and blood resistance) and have been used by Australian Olympic/Paralympic Teams in Tokyo, Australian State government entities, many pathology labs in Australia etc. They also have TGA certification (equivalent of US FDA). All these reports are available on our website (www.respiratormasks.com.au) or the manufacturers website (www.amdmed.com.au);
    4. Customer feedback about comfort, breathability and fit has been very positive
    • -1

Ladies & gentlemen, Meet the seller. :)

    • I used these masks and my glasses still fogs up, does it mean it doesn’t have a good seal ? Do you have a discount code for 2x50 purchase ? It’s hardly a good bargain if your discounted price for 1x50 is the individual price of 2x50.

    • They have TGA certification based on documents supplied by the company to the TGA, however my understanding is that the AMD masks are yet to be independently tested by the TGA. They cannot be found here https://www.tga.gov.au/testing-face-masks-and-respirators .

Please correct me if I am wrong

    • +4

      "They also have TGA certification"

No, there's no such thing. There's the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) but being on the ARTG that doesn't mean they are tested by TGA's own Labs.

AMD's masks does not appear on the TGA's list of tested respirators or surgical respirators

If you click through, you will see many respirators on the ARTG were found to be non-compliant after they were sold to the public.

Compared to NIOSH N95, the fact that the TGA Lab testing occurs after a P2 is sold to the public is the 2nd biggest weakness to the P2 standard in Australia/NZ. The biggest weakness is that only a subset of P2 masks are required to be on the ARTG. The ones that aren't on the ARTG escape all TGA scrutiny.

What you want the equivalent of is an independent government lab (like US CDC's NIOSH NPPTL) to test and approve respirators before they are sold to the public.

Anyone who sells an earloop P2 as interchangeable with a headloop NIOSH-approved N95 simply does not know what they are talking about, and does not fully understand the market and regulatory environment they are operating in.

    • +1

any chance you can pull some strings and get AMD to start making the black masks again?

    • Are the masks fluid resistant to 160mm Hg?

  • +1

How long until Intel masks hmm.
    Wouldnt mind an ATi mask!

  • Are N95 same thing as P2 ?

    • +1

Why use a P2 face mask? (also called N95)
Disposable P2/N95 face masks (also known as P2/N95 respirators) are able to filter out very fine particles from the air when worn correctly. They help reduce exposure to bushfire smoke / poor air quality and associated health effects.

P2/N95 face masks are widely available from hardware stores and other safety equipment suppliers.

Stole this from NSW Health website.

      • Thanks OP for taking the time and trouble to support a small business AND Aussie made products!

    • +1

On paper, the standards are similar. Sure

In practice, after factoring in the regulatory and enforcement environment surrounding them, no.
      See my comment above https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11878759/redir

  • +4

Is this based on Zen4 Architecture?

    • Tech jokes tonight are lit!

  • +2

At testing sites we are not allowed to wear these.

Most wear the aura's or the duck masks.

    • Is it possible that it's for a reason other than protection? Example cost per unit. But then I don't know anything about testing sites. Went to one once in the early days of covid, followed by basically self imposed lockdown for 2 years. Fuel price isn't helping my motivation to get out and about again.

      • +1

        They can't fit tested properly.

Basically they don't fit properly for most people.

      • +2

high failure rate on fit testing with earloop models, i failed mine with it. go for the headband one if you want a good fit

      • The mask may very well be p2 compliant. But the ear loops will stop it from ever getting p2 status. I use a 3 fold system in the hospital called trident. And uses a headstrap system rather than an earloop.
These amd are good but if anything slightly better than surgical masks due to the fabric used

    • +1

Our local Histopath covid drive thru has testers wearing AMD masks.

  • +1

N95 are based on US guidelines, P2 are based on Australian guidelines. But yes, essentially interchangeable. Its just that until covid started, we had no Australian P2 manufacturers

  • +3

    I prefer 14nm++ tbh

    • This is another tech joke right? I need to read more.
