  • Can you use them in/under water? Like in a swimming pool…

    • This a serious question?

      • Yes, why? BT has problems with it as far as I understand as a protocol?

        • I used them in a swimming pool but once I went underwater the connection did get a lot weaker and cut out a bit. My phone was outside the pool though. Not sure if having the phone underwater with you will change much. Pixel 6 Pro.

          • @Shirty Grizzly: Water breaks Bluetooth signal. There is an alternative radio to BT but it is not common.

    • Not sure about a pool, but I wear mine in the shower and they work fine

    • IP 67 typically means immerse to 1m only. I wouldn't use them swimming

      • If i remember correctly they say not in a swimming pool.

    • +1

I don't think Aeropex are the right model to use submerged.

These are for swimming: https://shokz.com/products/openswim . No bluetooth, local storage.

  • A pity that the mini is $199.96. :-(

    • should be able to call them up as the 20% deal is meant to be off everything.

      • It is 20% off (of $249.95)! Don't know why the mini would be more expensive though. It's usually the same price as the normal one.

until they really transmit sound to my (only) skin and bone, i wont buy this.
the name is bone conducting but actually people sit next to you can hear the sound. so, how come the sound can reach their bones ? doesnt make sense
it should called "mini speaker headset that looks cool"

    • It's true, they make unwanted outside noise for people nearby. They're not for working in an office environment. They're good for cycling though. I have an older pair that isn't wireless, but works OK. Sound quality is not amazing (bass is lacking) and if a truck drives by, it will drown out the audio (no problem for music, annoying with podcasts or book on tape). That's a good thing though as you want to hear cars/trucks while cycling.

A lot of cycling commuter just use regular earbuds. They don't seem to care, but it's dangerous to limit your ability to hear the road and other cyclists around you. It's illegal in "many states" according to Bicycle Network. They somehow claim that listening to earbuds while cycling at a reasonable volume is safe. I call BS. i am 100% fully aware and agree with we need to be able to hear surrounding. but i also want the sound to be heard by me and only me (well the name is bone conducting, i am wearing it, only my bone touches the headset, so it should only travelling through my bones) - why other people able to hear it ?

        • Unless you have the volume up to an insane level then they can't….

I've used these for a long long time without issue.

      • You have to have them up pretty loud for sound leakage to occur.

I've used these for years in an office setting without issue or sound leakage.

    • You are totally right, I have the same problem with my Shokz. Do not understand why people voted negative!

Why would you wear these when cycling? Are you meant to wear headphones when cycling? Isn't that dangerous AF?

    • +1

They don't cut out ambient noise so you can still hear what's going on around you

    • That's the whole point of these, you can still hear ambient sounds.
I was anti earphones for years, but now I wear Etymotic IEMs which don't need to be that loud so I can still hear cars approaching.

    • They're aero (it's even in the name!)

  • In comparison, these are the same https://shokz.com/products/openrunpro
Why not buy from the store itself… Is there any difference in the model?

    • the openrun pro is only rated IP55, while these are IP67.

  • These are great headphones for a better price. Current model are known as Shokz.

I have had these for several years, use them for cycling/running and on the tools at site. you can wear earplugs with them and still hear music.
