  • This or the Duet 5?

They are quite different. Duet is more like a Surface. Being much thinner, longer battery life, OLED screen on duet and proper tablet mode on Duet is nice. This has better processor and better keyboard.

    • It feels like this for work, that for play. That's my read.

I have one of these and have used it regularly for more than a year.
Standout features for me in the i5 8GB model:

    1. Screen. 300 nit screen with more colour definition and (imo) much nicer than the screen on the i3 model.
    2. NvMe SSD is faster, as well as upgradable. My one upgraded to a 1TB SSD (I needed 2242 size, here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32865048871.html )
    3. i5 processor with the 8GB, SSD and screen are responsive and a delight to use.

As well as the above you have everything that made the i3 model great - chromeOS updates regular and frequent until June 2028, stylus support, convertible form factor, wifi6, can run multiple screens via AltDP/USB-c and so on. I sometimes use dual QHD screens at 60Hz via a USB-c hub no problem.
Usually runs quiet on battery, there have been a few times I hear the fan on max, but that has generally only when I am loading it up running Windows in a VM or that kind of thing.
    Areas it could be better:
plastic construction - I was wondering if this is why they call it the "Flex"
webcam is fairly ordinary, but the physical slide cover is a bonus
speakers are upward firing, but lack range/depth/clarity.They are loud enough but not quality.

I was okay with the above and still consider it highly recommended.

    • That screen on their i3 models is awful. Beware!

  • bought with 5% discounted jb hifi gift cards, landed for $66 click and collect. Nice.

  • OP - deal seems to have expired now and price back to $999.
