Decent price, but not a particularly well tuned 4k 144Hz monitor. Wait for the Gigabyte M28U to come back in towards this price, or look at other options.

From what I saw, the Samsung Odyssey G7 4K 28" is almost identical to the Gigabyte M28U, don't they use the same panel? Hardware Unboxed review said the Gigabyte M28U was better, but only due to it being cheaper, which due to price drops for the Odyssey G7, isn't the case anymore.

      • The M28U was originally cheaper, yes, but it's also better. Rare win from Gigabyte.

Personally, I'd be more interested in the Samsung G8, which I'd imagine will start around $1300-$1400. That'll also force these prices down.

        • They're both HDMI 2.1 right?

          • @CVonC: Yes.

@CVonC: Technically, it does have support for HDMI 2.1. However please do note, reviews state it is limited to a maximum of 24Gbps which requires compression of sorts.

As quoted by Rtings Monitor reviews, "We were able to confirm that although the Gigabyte M28U supports HDMI 2.1, it's limited to 24Gbps, and relies on Display Stream Compression (DSC) 1.2a for anything that requires higher bandwidth.".

  • Wow, finally a 4K >60Hz monitor! (Maybe I’ve been under a rock). I can’t go back from 4K for work but from what I’ve heard, 75+Hz has a similar effect on people.

  • I cancelled this order and got the Dell 32" 4K 144hz instead from the other deal, hoping I made the right choice, no brainer for an extra $100 right? I do like the backlight though.

I was about getting that Dell. But the OP of that thread saying it will go down even lower next week. He removed/crossed that monitor from his thread.

    • Which dell?
