It's been over 3 hours since the deal was posted. If it was really that significant, it would've been said already.

      • It's also mostly late at night on a weekday for most Australians, so that could be a factor.

Going by previous Game & Watch deals, people really do believe these things are going to appreciate in value like the originals from the 1980s.

Not sure about the speculative investment market for these, but these are pretty good value and fun. Plenty bright, plenty loud, plenty battery life, and they're quite tiny/pocketable. Might get a bit uncomfortable for extended play (20min), but should be great for kids especially as stocking stuffers (the new Mario Watch&Game is pretty good too).
    Here's a good video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XXao7Pw8Y0

And if anyone is interested in retro gaming, I just shared this deal:

Has inflation already reached the point where $60 items are "stocking stuffers"?

I don't want to buy anything my kids will play with for a few weeks then chuck out, or sit in a draw. I don't personally understand these G&W throwbacks except to draw out nostalgia from people my age.

    Basically junk then

  • Thanks OP, got one for other half. Might get me a weekend of peace.

Wish it had A Link To The Past.

  • Interesting that they decided to include the original black-and-white Link's Awakening, and not Link's Awakening DX

    • The device only has emulation for NES and original Game Boy systems I think. They have been successfully hacked and its now possible to add more roms to the flash ram but still only NES and GB roms.

Apparently the hackers are trying to create homebrew which may extend the emulation capabilities of the machine, but as yet I dont think that there is the ability to run GBC roms:-
