What is shipping? Or is that free?

Edit* assuming 10$, you looking at 100$ / KG of beef jerky :\ Still pretty expensive…especialyl since its not really an extra effort really to pack 5 x 200 grams as opposed to 1 x 1 KG bag :\

    • +4

Yes. $100 a kilo is not good value. Especially with the high probability of crap customer service. Pay $100 now and get your jerky in 3 months time? No thanks.

        Hello Voteoften,

That was a year ago and happened once out of all the posts that I have done over the nearly three years :-( We have had no issues from that time onwards.

        Thank you,

        The Big Chief

        • +6

It was not a once off, happened to quite a few including myself. Perhaps you could have some sort of quality of service ie send an email when it is shipped etc.

    • Massari,
It is actually an extra effort as it is not done by machines-and you get to choose five flavours :-)

Going to have to pass this time round Big Chief.

    • All good Gummi,

      Take care………

Good Jerky! love the sidewinder/flaming arrow, have been waiting for a new worthy bargain to get some more. Best middle of the day snack with low fat/carb and high protein

I like a bit of jerky but buying in bulk at $90 (plus postage) a kilo seems crazy. At least you know its never going to go off…

    • it does go off… there is a use-by date… around a couple of months…

Would of considered this deal, before Costco opened in Sydney. Good quality beef jerky at $35.25/Kg at Costco vs $100+/Kg at Jeronimo. There seems to be too much of a price difference. For $95 you could get 1 year membership at Costco and 1KG of beef jerky.

    • Does the one at Costco have any MSG or other additives ???

      • MSG concern is created by media hype… MSG is naturally found in things such as tomatoes, oysters and seaweed as well as processed goods such as cheeses. It just enhances the flavour of foods, that's it.

Two types of foods with the most MSG is tomatoes and parmesan cheese. If MSG was really so harmful, Italians would be dropping dead all over the place as they heavily rely on these two ingredients in their food.

  • Shipping costs should be in title.

      Hello Stanas,

We use Australia Post shipping calculator so prices vary on location and weight. Also if you are in Brisbane we have the free option of pickup you can select.

      Kind Regards,

      The Big Chief

Costco sells it at $30 a kilo, tastes just as good
Edit - $90 a kilo is no sale, that's a normal price if you buy online

    • -3

I disagree, the costco stuff has the texture of plastic and tastes so-so. Also has a much higher carb content from the added sugar.

I agree the costco is ok for the price, but not a fair comparison.

      • +1

Agreed, Costco tastes more like Jims Jerky. No comparison. That being said we have seen better deals in the past from Geronimo :)

        • I haven't tried Costco's, But I found Geronimo to be too dry and hard. None of the flavours really appealed to me :\

      • +2

Costco's jerky has more moisture content (not as dry as GJ).
        Also has MSG.

        • +1

          Also has MSG.

that's a -ve from me then for the Costco Jerky…

        • Do some proper research on MSG, everyone who has tried to find substantial conclusive evidence against it has failed. You should be more concerned about the preservatives…

  • do you guys still do the sampler packs (with the different flavours in small packages) … i haven't tried the geronimo yet, but do love my jerky … keep me posted!

i thinks you are all crazy for considering eating jerky. even modest consumption of processed meats has been linked to substantial increased risk of cancer.

    • +2

pfff everything gives you cancer now a days. Everytime i look at the news something is linked to cancer or some other disease. i.e. antiperspirant linked to alzheimer's? who would have thought :P

    • +1

I think you may need to elaborate and substantiate your claim.
I process my own meat and I'm pretty sure that it's safe.
Having said that, it's a good point - what preservatives are in your jerky Geronimo?

      • No artificial Preservatives-
The natural preservative of salt in the Soy we use but that's it.

    • +2

I don't think this type of processing is the same as the kind that was recently advertised as harmful. The recent studies looked at 'cured' types of meats; eg deli meats - cured ham, chicken loaf, salami, etc, and found that the sodium nitrite used as a colour fixer was harmful. Yes, some jerky uses sodium nitrite, but does Geronimo?

who knows, they can't be bothered putting nutritional info on their website.

        • +6

          Hi Mattgal,

We have nutritional info on each of our flavours on our website-always have.
If you click on the product and go to large image it has all the info.

          Regards,
          Mark

      • Hey TonyP,

No Sodium Nitrite or artificial flavours or colouring or preservative. We also don't put fillers in to bulk up or weigh down product. (companies add extra "natural stuff" so it weighs more." We dont.

    • +1

Sodium nitrite appears predominantly in red meat products (you won't find it in chicken or fish products). Here's a short list of food items to check carefully for sodium nitrite and monosodium glutamate (MSG), another dangerous additive:( Geronimo Jerky DOES NOT have Sodium Nitrites or monosodium glutamate (MSG) but I see that others do.

      • Beef jerky
      • Bacon
      • Sausage
      • Hot dogs
      • Sandwich meat
      • Frozen pizza with meat
      • Canned soups with meat
      • Frozen meals with meat
      • Ravioli and meat pasta foods
      • Kid's meals containing red meat
      • Sandwich meat used at popular restaurants
      • Nearly all red meats sold at public schools, restaurants, hospitals, hotels and theme parks
      • This is just an observation, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong:

I see soy beans as an ingredient in your range of jerky, as well as wheat and salt. IF the actual ingredient used is soy sauce, which is made of water, wheat, soybeans and salt, then your jerky has MSG since soy sauce has MSG. It may not be an additive but there is MSG in there nonetheless.

        amirite?
