Pretty good price for 512 GB. 13 Pro isn't that compelling either, lots of people don't care about 120Hz and the chip in last year's phone still probably beats nearly all Androids

Okay, end of life 2027 vs 2028. Would you pay hundreds of extra dollars for that difference? Most people wouldn't.
Resale value is irrelevant if you're planning to keep the phone that long. Unless you're planning on selling in the next year or two, 12 Pro and 13 Pro will settle to very similar resale values.
@FrugalSplack: Biggest difference is the battery life. Apple is known of these tricks on old models.

Thicker phone. Almost .2mm thicker, which is a noticeable positive.

New operating system. Always improves how we use our phone.
Big battery. All models will feature a larger battery.

Latest colours. Possibly including metallic options. And the stainless-steel coating can reduce smudges.
Refresh rate. ProMotion display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz

I got my Mrs 12 pro max 256 gb mid last year for $1500 cash off gumtree, brand new too.
Hopefully it wasn’t stolen and sold as brand new on gumtree
