Does it actually perform better than a RTX3050? I would've thought the RTX would be much better

    • +38

Did I really get negged for asking a question? What has happened to OzBargain..

      • +2

I gave you an upvote, perfectly reasonable question.

      • +3

I know right. This place can be randomly and unpredictably brutal lol.

      • +2

You fell foul of a random jerk. Not representative of the rest of us :)

      • +3

Probably because you questioned the statement of the OP about the 2060 outperforming the 3050, but then appeared to not really know what you were talking about by saying "i would've thought" and that you didn't feel like it was worth your time to go have a look yourself.
I didn't neg you by the way.

        • -2

I was questioning OPs statement because I would believe the RTX 30s would be much more superior than the RTX 20s. I wasn't doubting OP btw, just an honest question.

          • +1

@FDA2021: but OP already pre-answered your question , then you asked again ? is that not doubting OP ?

        • But was it that the person "didn't feel like it was worth" their "time to go have a look" or was it simply their way of asking an expert to provide better understanding.

I agree that some ppl can be exceptionally lazy when it comes to doing some research but others simply value the various experience, knowledge, and opinions presented by those who keep their finger on the pulse of their respective areas of interest.

      • +3

How dare you question anything on OzB…. Everyone here is an expert on everything!

        • It definitely feels like that sometimes, lol

Finally seeing a true sale of gpu

  • +15

Better going a RX6600 for decent uptick in performance and much more efficient power usage in this price range.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/174976580146?hash=item28bd6aba32…

This one is $509 with SAVEAPRIL code and better deals will come up very soon.

Also 3060s won't be much more for a lot more performance. I don't see why you'd want to go 2xxx series right now unless it much better value than current gen, which it really isn't.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/691326 previous deal rx6600 for same price.

    • if you call 10% lot more performance :) and most of thats at 1440p

      a RX6600XT is 15% faster then a RX6600 and 5% faster then a 3060 again when looking at 1440p

      • +3

I was comparing a 2060 to a RX6600. They are in the same price category. The RX6600XT is in another price category. Does that answer question?

        • i see… thought you were comparing the 6600 jumping to 3060 for a lot more performance

The 2060 to 3060 is a lot more performance

          • +1

@vid_ghost: My thoughts are pretty much just don't buy a 2060 over current gen anything. A 3060 would blow 2060 out of the water for just a little bit more money. I mean this isn't even a 2060 Super.

            • @Budju: are 3060 expected to drop as well? and which brand + $?

              • @Blitzfx: Personally I prefer the price to performance of the 3060 Ti over the 3060, but it costs a bit more. 3060 Ti was $670 a few weeks ago and performs well over 1080 Ti level. A 2060 (non-super) doesn't come close to even 1080 Ti which was more at 2080 level. Given performance level a 3060 might make sense at $450-500 in current price structures.

                • @Budju: Thanks. I think might wait a bit longer then

    • Would you know if it's worth this GTX 3070 deal over the RX 6600 deal you mentioned? Another $370 more for atleast 40% increase? Thinking to sell the 6600 and grab the 3070 on special if it's worth it. Thanks in advance. <3

      • +1

Different class of GPU. Problem with 3070 is the 3070 Ti is not much more expensive and a fair bit better. Maybe look around for a 3060 Ti for about $700 over the short term. All that being said, a 3070 is near to a 2080 Ti in performance, so a very decent GPU if price is right for you. That price is about what it was at release before the price increases happened.

  • Nice find.

These were going for a little under 400 before the prices shot up to crazy levels. That said, this is the best price I've seen on these cards in a long time. Almost back to normal.

  • +4

Bois we are back in pre-covid times!!!!!

    • I guess you can say its POST COVID :)

  • 6600 has gone for similar price. Intel ark is around the corner.

    Good find OP, nonetheless. Lol.

  • +3

I paid 650 for a 2nd hand one last year. Sigh.

  • There is also a Gigabyte 1660ti available for 399 at Umart. Not sure how that rates among the ones that have already been stated above.

    https://www.umart.com.au/product/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1660-t…

    • amazon also sell 1660ti for same price

  • 599 for a 3060 ( no ti ) is a much better choice.

20+ fps more over the 2060 in many cases.

    • In the Youtube video above, it shows the average fps for 3060 being 20% higher than the 2060 (98 fps vs 118 fps). Yet $599 is over 30% higher than $459. So in terms of value for money, the 2060 wins here.

      • Performance vs cost is non-linear.

  • +1

    Hmmmmm I’m tempted 🤔

But a 3060 for $50 more sounds possible now …..

  • +6

idiots were paying 700 bucks for this a month or two ago lol. 459 is still too much for a 3yr old entry level card imo.

    • rather pay $4.59 for a Big Kahuna thou

      • +2

        What about the Sprite?

  • Yay now I can look forward to getting rid of my 970 and properly driving my ultrawide monitor 🤘🏼

  • Any current deals for those of us who want to pay $799 for a 1660s?

    • +1

Sure, I've got this lovely bridge in Sydney to sell you, great view of the harbour, prime location near the city….

The deal is going and buying a 3070 for a few bucks more than that.

  • Mwave doing 455 + free delivery now.
