Still waiting for the 30x! I have hope!

    • Good luck 🤞

    Last year 30Ă— Flybuys + Zip 10%off

  • Last year I bought them with a PayPal rewards card and got an additional 50,000 PayPal points ($250).

    • That’s sweet! Do PayPal reward cards offer bonus points at coles or something?

      • +2

No, every now and then PayPal runs a 50,000 bonus points on sign up promo, and last time they just happened to run it around the same time Flybuys was doing their 50,000 bonus points thing with Apple cards.

So I signed up for the rewards card during the promo and used it to buy the Apple gift cards at Coles. Essentially $250 back in FlyBuys points and $250 back in PayPal points that I then used to buy things on ebay.

        • Awesome thanks for all the info! You deserve an Ozbargain medal for that combo ha!

    • Do you redeem PayPal points for money directly or is it products in a catalogue?

      • +4

Yeah directly wherever you can pay online using PayPal. When you pay and are taken to PayPal's payment page there's a dropdown under the price and it shows your rewards points which you can use for full payment (if you have enough to cover the price) or part payment and the rest goes on the card.

        • +1

          Thanks for the info.

  • +2

So basically this happens at least once a month between Woolworths and Coles.

  • +1

So hypothetically, if I want a MacBook Pro, may as well top up on these, right?

    • +1

Yes, you can also wait for SB/CR with apple ~5-6% rate (uncapped) to save more.

      • Thanks, was probably a silly question from me but I was literally thinking about buying one today so this caught me off guard.

        • +1

If your preferred loyalty program is Everyday Rewards, they are currently running an almost identical deal.

It’s almost identical, because the points limit is theoretically much higher than the one in this upcoming deal.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Actually I do prefer this one that you’ve shared, just because I use it more regularly. Thank you for sharing.

          • +3

@WookieMonster: Find the Coles ones work best because you can redeem for JB giftcards and they currently have a 10% discount on giftcard redemption using points.

      • How do you use the cards with SB/CR ? I am guessing you have to pay using each card individually and not have the credit in your account already ?

        • I got the same question before. From what Wookie suggested before, it’s best to use each card rather than pay with credit in account. But I do see people using credit to pay and no issue.

    • JB and good guys usually have 10% off Macs, stock up their gift cards but you might have to wait for their next promotion. For these apple gift cards, you can basically get your mac whenever you want.

This seems to be a better deal, instant 10% off.

Can anyone explain to me why I got downvoted?

      • +1

havent negged but i think its cos the deal you linked doesnt contain a gift card which can be used at apple.

        • +1

Just FYI, you can use this TCN gift card to purchase apple gift card at jb hifi.

          • @DanielYuuuu: I think you are forgetting the delivery fee, which makes the deal less than 10%.

Also, a fair bit of hassle compared to this deal. You have to wait for the physical TCN cards to arrive in the mail before you can go shopping at JB Hi-Fi for Apple gift cards.

            • +2

@DoctorCalculon: You can buy every single apple product at JB Hi-Fi, so I think the TCN gift card is going to be better. If you are going to purchase something more than $1000, the $2.95 delivery fee won't be anything at all.

              • +3

                @DanielYuuuu:

You can buy every single apple product at JB Hi-Fi

I will be needing Apple gift cards for BTO products.

the $2.95 delivery fee won't be anything at all

This is OzBargain. Every $ counts.

By people who fail to comprehend the concept of opportunity cost due to being cognitively challenged

                  • @Icecold5000: For many folks, the opportunity cost would be much lower with this deal.
Buy the cards that you need from Coles, and jump on the Apple Edu portal for another 8% discount for a new mac.

                    • @DoctorCalculon: You can use TCN gift card to purchase apple gift card at jb hi-fi. Or you can use TCN gift card to purchase an apple product with education price directly at jb hi-fi.
Surely TCN gift card is more versatile and have instant 10% of instead of having flybuys points that you need to spend later to save money.

    • +3

I agree your deal is better. But can you get educational pricing at JB HiFi if buying Mac?

  • Calling cashrewards for another upsized cashback to stack with this :)

    • +1

Can you let Cashrewards know we want 10% cashback?

    • Genuine question, how would we benefit from Cashrewards here? I can’t find gift cards online so I assumed you could only buy the, instore.

      • You purchase something through Apple’s Online Store (regular or Education store, depending on the CR cashback deal) by clicking through CR first and then pay for that item using Apple gift cards you already purchased from a deal such as this one.

        • They’ll give you cash back on gift card credit? I assumed it’d only be on a cash transaction.

          • +1

@kiriakoz: For Cashrewards: Cashrewards’ page makes it clear that cashback is eligible if you use gift cards to pay for a transaction. TA also confirmed this.

For Shopback: the Shopback page states that cashback is calculated based on the amount spent, excluding the amount of gift cards redeemed on that transaction. I still think cashback will track and be paid out if you purchase via Shopback and pay using gift cards, but if automatic cashback tracking fails, you’re probably stuffed, as Shopback will see the terms on the Shopback page and will say that you violated the cashback terms.

Ah great, perfect for me to pay my tax with

    • +4

It’s not everyone’s kind of joke but I appreciated it.

  • Can these work as iTunes credit as well or is that now dead in the water? I’ve almost run out of balance from the old iTunes gift cards which I use towards subscriptions

    • +2

These Apple gift cards replaced both the App Store & iTunes gift cards and the Apple Store gift cards, so you can add them to your Apple account to pay for subscriptions and content as well as iPads, iPhones, Macs, etc from the Apple Store.

  • "PS - Woolworths are also offering 20x points but for different gift cards."
What is the difference between these two gift cards?

  • +1

So this is essentially 10%off ?

    • +3

You'll have 10% of the gift card's value returned to you in the form of Flybuys points.1

Whether you consider that equivalent to a 10% discount is up to you.

      1. The 10% calculation assumes you opt to redeem your Flybuys points for:
        - an instant $10 discount at Coles (available to Coles Financial Services customers only),
        - Flybuys Dollars, or
        - a range of gift cards on the Flybuys Rewards Store

  • So can these gift cards (like 10 x $200cards)be used in Harvey Norman to buy a MacBook?
Also how can 50000 points be had when only five purchases allowed, potentially only 20000 flybuys points?

    • No. Apple Gift Cards can only be used at Apple (in-store and online, if I remember correctly, 8-card limit applies for both in-store and online, per transaction). 5 $500 Apple Gift Cards (variable load ones have a maximum limit of $500) is $2500 actual spend, which gives you 50000 FlyBuys points.

      • +1

I got the woolworths equivalent today, so got $300 off my groceries, I guess as I bought 6x$500 vouchers.

  • -2

What abount $500 ones? do they have 20x Flybuys Points?

    • +1

I would have thought so, considering:

      • It is pictured in the catalogue
      • Only the $20 denomination is listed as an exclusion in the fine print
  • -3

Are the $500 gift cards included?

  • Bought 2 x $100 cards but never got the Flybuys x20 points credited. :(

    • Some troubleshooting questions:

      • Did you purchase Apple gift cards (i.e. the ones pictured in this catalogue)?

      • Did you purchase the gift cards from a Coles supermarket, Coles Local or Coles Express?

      • Does your Flybuys card number appear on the receipt?
