Just noticed AMEX has bumped-up the bonus offer on Upgrade to Qantas Ultimate card. Easy process, took me 2 mins to upgrade my card. Great deal if you have received your initial bonus from lower tier cards and don't want to wait out 18 months exclusion period to get more AMEX benefits.

    Isn’t Explorer a better option when compared? $450 can be spent on any airlines when booking for Amex travel, this seems to be limited to Qantas

      As a new card, I'd definitely go with Explorer. But I haven't seen an upgrade offer for Explorer Card.
      If you already have a lower tier qantas points earning card, this is a nice bonus.

      I believe, you will be charged $450 annual fee in your first statement. So yes.

    Just upgraded my qantas discovery card - pretty sure this is the only card eligible for upgrade.

    Seeing as when I downgraded from the ultimate card in the past it was downgraded to the discovery card. Could be wrong though.

          Your comment makes absolutely no sense. If Plat Edge is a separate rewards system on it's own how then does Qantas point get transferred across.

      i believe you will only be given Qantas Discovery card as a choice when you downgrade unless you make a new application and take a credit hit.

    Thanks OP upgraded from Qantas Premium card. New card appeared instantly in AMEX app. Credit limit unchanged so I assume no credit enquiry which is great.
