    • I put the SIM in, after 4 hours still no service, Messaged via the web chat (20 min wait), they activated the SIM.
      Got an SMS saying activated (and OPUTS SPORT email too)
      I still have PENDING on the OPTUS app, but If I log in via web its all there.
      Hopefully the app updates tomorrow or another chat session!

    Thanks OP, best Ozbargain deal for me so far.

    Placed order for 64GB version on Saturday arvo 23/4, received tablet and SIM today Wednesday from Star Track driver @3pm, no signature required.

    The Star Track tracking seems to be out of whack, still says on board for delivery 10.05am, Optus Order Status in the app still says submitted.

    In other words, it appears the systems are still in catch up mode, which does not help us at all.

    Time to look for a case and screen protector!

    What case do people suggest for this?

  • I ordered 23/04 around 7pm WA time. Received confirmation text and email within a couple of minutes with a proper order number (not temp). Haven't received anything since. Order has been showing as "submitted" this whole time. Now it's showing as "open".

    I messaged live chat and wow are they the most incompetent amateurs I have ever dealt with. If I could post screenshots you would all be laughing at how ridiculously bad they are. I got four different answers from the same person before being transferred to an "expert", who was no better than the last.

    In the end they've told me "apologies but the items are already pulled out of the market". When I said to leave my order as is then, they replied "weather your order goes through or not your still not gonna get the item"

    I was more than happy to wait but now I'm very irritated at the fact that orders placed after mine have already been delivered, that I've wasted all this time dealing with these muppets only to be basically told "too bad".

      • The entire chat felt like I was dealing with trainees on their first day, who had been left unsupervised, who were also on their first day of learning English

        • Why would you attempt to get an answer on 4 seperate occasions?

          • @Fabio08: I asked a follow up question, and then they would give me a different answer than previously. So I questioned that which led to a different answer. And this just kept going on. It was unbelievably bad

      • Ah true. I started to take screenshots and then realised it's 8 screenshots worth of messages lol so I won't worry. At least I know now to never order anything with Optus again. Can't stand customer support like that

    • I order similar time but NSW. Heard nothing till 26th. On 25th went to chat with Optus. First guy was taking 60+ mins to reply. And in the end he said this will take long and he will reply when he have answer. And heard nothing from him after that.

      Next day contacted Optus again. The rep was talking like he just want me to accept that i wont get the device. Like he would say your order didn't complete and no explanations. His last chat was apology and saying that my order was no placed properly.

      I gave up on the order and on 27th i get the email that order is approved. And now on 28th i have 2 contracts in my contracts. One dated for 27 and other for 28. And i got email that my contract will commence from 29th and i will receive the tablet soon.

      I have no idea what to expect now. I will just wait and see what happens cuz support guys are so clueless.

        They're ridiculously bad hey, they couldn't organise a root in a brothel. Absolutely clueless. After being told last night that I won't get my tablet, I received the text and email this afternoon saying it's ready for delivery. Tracking is now showing on star track website and is due on Monday/Tuesday next week. Can't wait to see what actually arrives

  • Question; what happens if you aren’t home to sign for the order when it arrives? Do they reschedule the delivery or take it to a post office?

    • Mine was taken to the post office down the road. Startrack left a card for me at the door

  • Ordered before 8pm AEDT on Saturday 23/4 for the 64GB model. Received email & SMS with tracking number that it has been dispatched today afternoon for delivery tomorrow. Optus's website still shows it as submitted, seems quite backlogged.

  • Anyone know if the SIM cards are activated automatically? Still have a month left on belong for data on my iPad and was gonna use that up then pop the Optus sim in

    • Meant to auto activate within 4 hours of delivery.

        • They're not even that logical. Some Saturday orders sent, some Sunday orders sent. Some Saturday orders and Sunday orders waiting for stock. All (?) Tuesday orders sent.

  • Existing customer. Ordered the 64GB around 8:30am on 24th. Brisbane. Got the confirmation email few mins later with order number ending in A.

    Order was still submitted/pending today on 27th so I contacted Optus chat today and was told it should arrive early this week.. "Rest Assured"… (damn I hate that)
    I asked for more information and they responed with

    "this is the latest update of your order and the sales order number
    (Shipment/Delivery Request created Successfully in SAP. SalesOrderNumber : 07xxxxxxxxx)"
    …Which means s**t to me.

    Just tried the Startrack link with my order number and no info avaliable.

    Tonight the tracking link from the Optus email says "Order not found" / "information unavaliable" but website also says under maintenance.

    Will try again tomorrow. I have been wanting a new tablet since I sold my old Toshiba (yes old) 4 years ago.

    • That reflects almost exactly my experience as well. I ordered on 24th at around 5.30am. Order details disappeared and online chat said they can see Order but no stock, but rest assured you will get it when in stock and no, we don't have status of stock at this point.

    Is anyone else having issue tracking their order via the My Optus App?

    Mine was showing earlier, now its showing "Information unavailable, we're unable to display this information right now. Please try again later"

    Mine was delivered today, Tracking did not update for me at all and was stuck at brisbane airport however got a card and picked up at post office today. Thanks op. Hope you guys all get yours soon.

  • Ordered on the 23rd for two units around 3pm ish and finally got an auspost notification for parcels which is now also showing up on the star track optus portal that matches the info.

    Looks like we all need to be a little more patient and give it a few days. I think the public holiday caused a backlog hence why we all got no updates till now…

    Delivered yesterday. No email or SMS from star track though. Delivered by Aust Post with no signature requested or viewing of licence.

    Ordered 128GB on 12 month plan at 6:10pm on Saturday (QLD).

    Sim inserted around 4pm, still not active as at 5am this morning.

    I ordered on 23,11pm. No update so far on delivery.

    No confirmation call/text/email.
    Optus account just says I don't have any active services when I log in (I used to have an account with them).

    Got a call yesterday asking for ID verification and copy of my IDs.
    Here's to hoping I got in

    I ordered in store at $25/month after getting temporary order on Saturday. After over an hour and half of back and forth with countless live chat Optus people, I finally got to someone that could help. Managed to get my instore contract amended to $12.50/month!

        Yep, as soon as I saw it was out of stock online Sunday I just went to get it instore instead.
        They gave me the device and activated the sim on the spot.

    • Very clever, but a bit risky as it depends on the online chat staff. I didn’t think about this work around to get the deal.

      • Yeah definitely could have been turned down but I still would have been happy with $25/month.
        I already had a 5gb data sim with telstra for $15/month I was going to cancel for this.
        $10/month extra for the tablet and more data seemed like a good deal to me.

        • Called several stores and they could only do $25 per mo but out of stock instore anyway so does not matter

            @ow: We have a heap in stock, but you'd need to purchase through a HN, and bathe afterwards.

            • @farque: Local Optus store had no stock so I dealt with the Devil for $25/12 months. The manager there was absolutely in disbelief that it was $12.50 online. Gonna try haggle for the discount online. And wash off the shame.

        Yeah 12 month, I pushed the angle that I was given a temporary order when it was still in stock but it ran out before they could get back to me.
