Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 128GB & Samsung Care+ $1249 Less Trade-in Value (after $100 Loyalty & $500 Trade-in Bonus) @ Samsung AU

851

Possibly lowest price ever? Here is order confirmation: https://imgur.com/a/wzS48hZ

Samsung is offering a $500 trade-in bonus to take off the S22 ultra. ($450 for S22+ and $400 for S22).

Samsung Care+ (valued at $149) is also free if you add it to your order.

You can combine with the Loyalty voucher to take off further $100.

It is effectively a $600 ($500 + $100) discount + Free Samsung Care+ for $1249! You can further deduct the trade-in value of the device you are trading in.

I did it with S8+ and got a mere $20 off…

I have not tested if Samsung Care+ is free for S22/S22+ purchases. Hope this helps someone!

Why would you return an S8+ for 20$?

    • +23

      Might for $520? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • +1

The trade-in value alone for me is worth it so I don't want to risk forfeiting that

Also they charge $60 admin fee for non-returns

      • +3

If I value my old S8 at more than $60 (ie still use it for media player or whatever) wouldn't I better off using it to activate the trade in deal and just not sending it?

        • +2

Yes but I am not 100% if you forfeit the trade-in bonus if you do that… most have said that you don't though so up to you to weigh up the risk

          • +1

@qkr: I can tell you from when they ran the promotion on the s21 range you get the trade in bonus from Samsung on purchase of your new phone, the trade in is handled by another company altogether.

          • +2

@qkr: I did this when the S22 launched earlier this year. I did not return the phone, so they charged me the value of the trade in plus the admin fee. I got to keep the trade in bonus.

        • Same, didnt send phone kept trade in bonus minus actual trade in fee which was peanuts. Not sure if you can use the same device to trade in again though, probably not

      • +1

I thought this was BS and proven as such last time around??

    • Because with the $500 bonus it comes to $520. I think that'll easily beat what you'd sell it for privately.

      • +3

You still get the $500 bonus not sending the $20 phone back

        • Very true. I misread the original question. You do get charged a small non return fee now of $60 iirc? But still that is a valid point. For $80 (20+60) you'd almost keep the S8+.

          • @deva5610: I wouldn’t send my s8 back for $80!

          • +1

@deva5610: Proof anyone has ever paid this non return free

            • @abjsdhasehasee: Didn't return a phone last sept for an S21U and again a month or two on the bundle sales. Didn't get charged "admin" fee. Although on the last deal my phone was valued at $120 but I don't think it fully discounted me for that, I think they withheld an amount. Didnt bother doing the maths since there was like 3 different discounts stacking

            • -3

@abjsdhasehasee: Non return fee is charged when you send an exchange phone which is not what you had mentioned in the trade in ex. Phone not working or a different model.
They don't charge a fee when the trade in phone is not returned.

            • @abjsdhasehasee: My friend was charged the non-return fee. But kept the trade-in bonus along with his s9.

  • Em.. S22 ultra or the oppo X5 pro ( from memory JB promotion brings it to approx 1200 plus any trade in values)

    • +15

      S22 ultra no doubt

        • +17

You make some good points 1jwoz, it's really hard to disagree with you

        • +7

Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

        • +1

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

    • -1

whats the jb promotion for the oppo?

  • I got this deal on Thursday however the Care+ wasn't free when trade in bonus was applied. Fine print indicates that free Care+ may not be combined with other offers but didn't specify.

The bloke on the chat said that you couldn't stack the two so i shelled out $149 for Care+.

If anyone can confirm if they got the trade in bonus and free Care+ I'd appreciate it and I'll get onto Samsung about a refund (which may be futile given their reputation but I'll try)

Here's a screenshot of my order from earlier today with Trade-in + Free Care+

      • Bugger me. Cheers for the confirmation mate

    • +1

I got the same issue. Care+ is not free when trade in

    • +1

It turns out, they add the cost of care+ but discount the phone as well, final price starts the same

  • +1

Where does one get the loyalty voucher?

    • Try the live chat

      • +2

They only refer you to the $50 welcome voucher which never arrives

        • Try different emails. It will come eventually.

The loyalty bonus is compensation for owning an old Samsung out of warranty that has a fault. They may ask for the serial number of your old phone. It can be the same phone you use for trade in.

          • +1

@greatlamp: I asked chat if any other vouchers (owned a number of GalaxyS)
"Apologies, only our $50 newsletter is in effect at the moment."
            Then they ended chat :(

  • actually if you goto JB hifi right now. they have a $950 off the s22 ultra. on a 12 month 69 plan.

    pretty good

    • +5

So a bit of math without explaining exactly what's what: (1849-950+(12*69)-1249)/12 = $39.83. So the JB deal is equivalent to this deal (without the trade in value), but you're paying $39.83 per month for 12 months for the plan on top. Not sure what the plan includes, but I'm sure it's more than enough data + 5G.

So assuming the trade-in value is really low so we can ignore it, if you're paying significantly less than $39.83 per month for your phone plan that you're happy with, it's better to use the Samsung deal.

      • +1

Its Telstra 5G 100gb you're paying for the best of the best service so $40 is not a lot considering retail Telstra 5G is at min $69 per month. It also works as a good backup if your NBN is down and claim costs for work from home during tax time.

      • +1

Sorry if I am daft but what is the -1249 for?

    • any trade in bonus too?

    • Where have you seen this? The closest one I can see is $800 gift card for the 100/m on 24 month contract.

      • wondering about this too, do you happen to have a link because i cant seem to find it

        • its not advertised. but i got it when I walked in and ask for the best deal last Friday. walked away with a burgandy s22u 12gb + 512 for 1200 bucks and a telstra 5g 100g plan.

considering its a 2 month old phone and i was on a $45 dollar plan earlier, its the best deal i found.

the Samsung deal is for the 128 gb one i thnk? and you need to jump through hoops and hope your phone has the max trade in.

      • just walk in and ask for the deal at jb hifi

  • S21U trade in value is only at $550.

    • +1

MKBHD uses the s21U not the s22U .. suggest you keep

    • You can sell it for more on ebay or gumtree

  • +1

Is this the lowest price ever or close?

    Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 128GB

this version of s22 ultra only has 8gb ram, compared to 256gb and above models which have 12GB.
with Samsung one UI + Spen on top i would not touch an ultra model with less than 12GB

    • +1

8GB is absolutely fine - the Note 10 has 8GB with all of the above without issue.

      • +1

        Note 10 plus has 12gb

        • -2

The 512gb s21 ultra comes with 16gb ram, higher screen resolution, and better camera lenses than the s22 ultra. They've cheaped out on this gen

  • +3

hope they accidentally do double discounts again like they did with s21 ultra, otherwise can't seen any reason to upgrade s21 ultra to s22 ultra

  • +3

The only reason I didn't jump on a similar deal to this but for the S22 was because of the horrible reviews the Samsung store has. Not worth the trouble I feel.

  • How could I get $100 loyalty

    • +1

Use the Chat window and ask them

  • Not getting the Care free for some reason. Anyone else having the same issue? Customer color order plus EDS code also applied

  • -2

I paid this price for a S22 Ultra 256gb without trade in or sign in bonus. This is definitely not the lowest.

    • +6

      Where and when

      • +1

Definitely got scammed by some guy that put him on a 80/month 48 month plan along with it

  • Will I keep the $500 bonus credit if I did not send phone in? And can I use the same device for another trade in in the future?

    • you cant use the same device for future trade ins

    • You will keep the $500 bonus but can’t use the same device in future again.

    • Plus I think they apply a $60 admin fee for not sending the device.

    • Thanks everyone, I know about the admin fee. Looks like I will have to use it for a phone I really want. Wonder if anybody has tried with JB HiFi's trade in promo after not sending in to Samsung

  • How do you get the $100 loyalty voucher? Thanks

  • +1

Any idea how much I'll get if I trade in my brand new galaxy tab a8?

    • Ha, this is a great idea depending on trade in value

  • Don’t forget that they charge an admin fee of $60 if you do not return your device

    • -4

      Proof

      • +1

It's in the terms and conditions.

        • -2

and yet no one has been charged

          • +2

@abjsdhasehasee: Can confirm I was charged $60 admin fee.

            • -2

              @76F: for what deal

            • +3

@76F: Confirmed I was charged the $60 non return fee for the S21 deal.

              • @mandelbrot: In my case I didn’t received any email to return it where they will send you the post office return address.

              • @mandelbrot: Were you only changed the $60, or did you also lose the value of the phone etc?

                • +2

@darkly: Just the $60 charge and the value of the phone trade in. It didn't affect the $500 trade in bonus.

                • @darkly: Are you seriously asking this? Of course you lose the value of the phone if you don't send it in. You just retain the trade in bonus.

                  • @dji1111111: Yes its serious question. I wanted to know if it affected the phone trade in as well as the trade in bonus.

    • +3

Can confirm it's just 60$ fee plus the TradeUp amount. 500$ bonus isn't affected.

      Here's the reply from Asurion.

Thanks for your query, if you wish to not return your old device you will be charged the full trade-in credit (the amount you got offered for your old device). After this it will no longer be a requirement to return your old device to us. You will be charged an additional $60 admin fee for not returning the device. We hope that this information has been helpful.

Any bonus credit/vouchers will remain as it is. You may receive some reminder emails about returning your old device which you can ignore if you’re planning to keep that device. Any bonus credit will remain as it is.

  • How do we get the loyalty voucher pls

    • +1

I got the 100$ voucher a few months ago by asking the Samsung chat service on the Samsung website

      • +1

Thx. And what exactly do we ask ?

        • Can I please have a 100$ loyalty voucher?
You also have to tell them that you already own a Samsung device and would like to upgrade. They might ask you which model you own.

  • Not sure if it’s a mistake or something else. Saurion has charged me the trade up value of my device in advance? When I was going through the process, it said that they will charge $1 on my credit card. If I don’t buy the phone, will I get my money back?

    • +1

You'll get your money back after returning the device.
If not, then Trade-In Value+Admin Fee of $60 will be deducted.. They will send you reminder and emails to return the device.

    • Read my thread on this. I had to go through my bank and do a charge back dispute which I won. They received my device and still charged me over 500 plus the admin fee. Provided proof to bank and I won, good luck getting in contact with Asurion to sort it out because you can't and they will never respond to your emails.

    • Usually the $1 is just to check if there's balance on the card and that it's not just a dud. Never actually takes the money in my cases, just leaves it pending in the bank and gets cancelled a week or two later.

      • I was upfront charged the entire value of my old device

  • Anyone in WA looking to trade and but not return their s21u ? 256+ GB? Looking to replace my find X2 and would love a bargain and happy to pay the trade in value + non return fee
