          • @Stingo: thanks i read again (I also got email from Hive) —- it says only mobile pay and pay tap work!

            • @baron33: Don't assume they know what they are writing about. As I wrote more transaction types were previously working than stated. It's possible that change has been implemented by now but who knows? Unfortunately, if you choose to play it safe then you have to pay for "insurance" in the form of any credit card surcharges that apply.

This is unfortunate, but not unexpected.
What is the best way to make the most of it before this cash back finishes?
      Loading up on gift cards?

      • Loading up on gift cards?

        The quickest way, yes.
$5K max in GCs from eligible shops, if you are starting the race from $0 cashback.

My woolworths gift card purchases triggered a fraud on my account. I got a call from Hiver's fraud area & after they sorted it they say "Why are so many people buying Woolworths Gift Cards today - can you tell us?".

    • +2

      Hahaha, wow just wow.

    • +9

Lol, tell them Fathers Day is coming :)

    • Ask them to join Ozbargain

    • +3

It really goes to show how the other half live their lives.

    • +1

      How much did you buy?

    • +2

What was your answer? They've probably noticed an uptick in spending for all categories. I hope someone at the AGM asks them about them about the revenues vs. expenses of the promo. Sure they've gained lots of new customers but how many will stick after they get their last cash back. I wonder if someone will be shown the door or getting a bonus.

"Why are so many people buying Woolworths Gift Cards today - can you tell us?

Umm, isn't it obvious? You're closing the door on 5% cashback, people are doing what they can to get the most out of it….

  • +3

Apparently it was always going to be a limited time thing. Source

And originally it was only going to be 1% cashback. Source

It is perfectly ok for a bank to change terms & conditions on a banking product.

But, it is not Ok to do it for existing customers without giving at least a 30 day notice.

The icing on the cake is that they didn't even bother to inform many customers about the change. I still haven't received any email about the change, and only found out about it through Ozbargain. This is frankly unacceptable & a violation of the banking code of practice.

      • They sent a message to all members. I and my friend got it on 31st Aug. Check the message area on the app (right hand corner on the Welcome screen).
But it is a real shame that they stopped it fully. Reducing to 3% would have been better received than making it 0.
        Boooooooooooooooooo!

  • Can I buy gift cards up to the September 7th deadline and receive cashback for this purchase next month? Or will there be no more cashback after this date? (Just received last month's cashback today)

    • +2

Yes but do it earlier so it is not still pending on Sept 7. I stopped my Hiver purchases on Sept 3 to be sure.

  • +1

anyone still waiting on their cashback from August?

  • +1

    Not received yet either.

    • +1

Same, I’d give it to Wednesday since that’s officially the 5th business day of the month

  • +2

what a twist of expectations if they gave everyone their cashback for purchases made in September on the 7th too

    • Not possible if they're decent enough to allow transactions made on the 7th to settle. Given they need to stagger the cashbacks I can't see that it is possible anyway. Do people who joined earlier get their cashback earlier in the month? Still waiting for mine. Late starter.

    August CB finally in!

    • +4

      I am still waiting…

      • +1

        same…

        • +1

          Same

      • That is weird, but my transactions were purely via eftpos, maybe easier for them to track and calculate.

  • 6 Sep 5pm now, still haven't received my Aug cb…

    • Same here

    • +1

same same…but on a positive note my gift card purchase from yesterday is no longer pending…now hopefully this all works out

      • Just got my cashback today

    • +1

Just received my Aug cb, can confirm eftpos savings still works

  • My transaction yesterday is still pending, probably should refrain from making another transaction today. Was thinking of getting WW gc.

    • +1

may be go in store and purchase it with eftpos savings?
someone reported somewhere their eftpos saving transaction at ALDI was eligible in August.

      • +1

Coles eftpos transactions in August also got credited successfully.

        • +1

          Finally came through

  • Still no cashback, is this normal?

    • +2

Same … I'm waiting for $250, dunno if that makes a difference lol

    • Same, nothing has come through for me yet.

      • Finally came through :-)

    • same…

    • Received mine this morning for last month
Also you can turn on sms notifications

  • Cashback for August has been processed.

    • Got mine too

  • Didn't realise some payments take 3 days to process and get off the Pending status.

Do those purchases that were done before 5 Sept but not processed until 6-8 Sept still count?

Just got a reply from Hiver - need to be cleared by 7 Sep 5pm! How many days are required for txn to be cleared generally?

      vikvance on 30/08/2022 - 11:16
Generally, they take 3 to 5 days to clear, but it can be up to 10 days. (From the Commbank website.)
