  • .au seems like a big cash grab

Good host and deal otherwise though

  • Just note with domain names it only seems to work for 1 year signups / renewals

Discounts like this are normally for one year. You also need to remember with the namespace .au renewals they need to be in the 90 day renew period.

      • .au is for up to 5 years at discounted price if you purchase the 1-5 years at time of registration https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/690099 which is still active and does not need a code to get the deal.

        • Yep you're correct this discount only applies to the other .au name spaces and not the direct registrations.

Additionally this offer still valid last time I checked to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/626410 so if you're a new customer you can get a non-direct registration in one of the .au name spaces for free.

        • The VentraIP website seems to indicate that .au registrations and renewals are $8.67 per year ongoing, there's no mention of "up to 5 years"… unless I'm missing something?

On direct registrations they're allowing for initial registrations to be purchased at wholesale cost price for the first initial license period which can be a maximum of five years.

I don't know if you're missing something but it could be your domain is in contention?

If your domain name is in contention and you haven't withdrawn your other eligible extensions you can only purchase a priority registration for one year at a time.

You can check using the official tool here https://www.auda.org.au/tools/priority-status-tool

.au renewals they need to be in the 90 day renew period.

        This sucks so much.

        • Yep this is one of the things they should've changed when they took away the two year renew periods and allowed you to have 1 to 5 year terms.

  • Unfortunately the 30% off new .AU domain name registrations excludes direct .au domains.

    • But the good news is direct registrations already going to be at the lowest prices anyway at VentraIP. As they are committed to selling it wholesale for the for seeable future.

So it's already a good deal as it's cheaper than what you would get If the price was the normal rate with 30% off.

The code above didn't work for me on renewal, but this did: MAY22RENEWAU

I couldn't create a new deal for this token, but more than happy for some to do so.

    • Discounts on renewals/upgrades should be automatically applied at checkout — no codes needed.

      • Hi,
The renew section for my hosting plan shows a disabled Prepay button, and with Pay the current invoice option only. I have changed to annual billing and it is showing the full annual payment amount at checkout. Nowhere I can see an option to enter the code.

  • They always bait me into thinking I'll save a heap of money… but it never turns-out.
You get little discounts here/there… but they make it so that's all you'll get.
