when apple airtag came out, i thought apple airtag looked like a better product but of course its more exy.

The Tile may be cheaper and does not require an ‘accessory’ but the AirTag works so much better simply by the fact that it uses every iPhone/iOS device nearby to help track its location. The Tile is a very poor comparison
Spot on. However, Apple is using it’s ecosystem monopoly to overtake any other company, if this is not concerning I don’t know what is. I use both tile and AirTag and love the reverse find option on Tile (can push tile to find my phone). I seriously hope other big tech wakes up and smells the coffee, you can’t fight a tightly closed sw/hw ecosystem with the OEMs running the hw.

I've had both the Tile and the AirTag and I find the AirTag a bit better to use. My Tile had been a bit temperamental and the battery died after less than a year, which meant I had to throw it in the bin and buy a new one that is now gathering dust since I tried AirTag. I've never had to do it yet, but I understand that the battery can be replaced on the AirTag. Listening for an electric Christmas card song in a big house and disturbing people who might be sleeping is a bit tedious with the Tile - I'd rather my phone lead me to the item efficiently and silently. If it is buried, sound is trickier to hear than having a direction and distance reading. Also if the item is lost outside my home, I'd rather my chances of finding the thing if it was an AirTag due to the more extensive Apple ecosystem. Tile also has to be running on your phone all the time for a memory of where an item was seen last, so you have to always remember to run the App after an iOs update or phone restart. I know people hate the Apple price tag and exclusivity etc. but I'm just trying to be objective about what works best in my experience. These accessories are fairly expensive for what they are but there is usually a way to get them cheaper or look at third party knock-offs.
