        You are confused with Windows. Or Ubuntu, to be honest.
        Or Android. IOS still runs in 2GB OK.

          @bargaino: 4gb is for very basic web browsing only.
          I’ve run a 8gb Pixelbook for work and it would constantly struggle if you had a moderate number of tabs open.

          This would be only good for lounge chair googling and Ma and Pa checking their email and internet banking.

      That's misleading. It's bad for anything more than mild web browsing - fair given that's what chromebooks are for, but expect significant lag when you have a number of tabs open. If that's your use case then you need 8gB, especially if you want to video call at the same time.

      I would still say this is a good deal though for the right use case.

      Nah from experience, even for chromebooks. I'd go 8gb especially for running multiple tabs or even just loading your chrome extensions, which are always gonna be running in the background.

    I have this exact model and I have not had any issues with its speed or lack of memory. This sort of device is for consuming media or browsing the internet and it does a fantastic job. I love it. I have not ran into a situation that more memory would help, which makes me think is the 8gb really with it?

  How does one transfer files to this chrome book? It's not possible to do it via a cable as the storage isn't detected. The only option I've come across on forums was to upload files to Google drive and then access it. Does anyone have an alternate solution?

      Well, RJ45 LAN to LAN, yes it's possible.

        This brings me back 20 years. It is possible but I would not try it because of its complexity with it. And I kind of know what I am doing.

        Probably just connect them both to a network and use a shared folder to copy the data. Or just use a USB HDD.

          @misu p: Haha yeah, it's not plug and play for the average user. I'd take the same route as you.

          I think the issue is for devices like this, I can see why people think they would be plug-in mass storage devices. They're not too different from an Android tablet/phone at the end of the day.
