WD Elements SE Portable SSD 480GB $59 + Delivery ($0 in-Store/ C&C/ to Metro) @ Officeworks

230

Unsure if this is 3D TLC or 3D QLC. Can someone please comment?

No USB-C which is odd for an SSD. But hey, this is inexpensive stuff.

Additionally, WD 1TB D30 SSD Xbox Game Drive Black $129

    • So it's some sort of custom board ?

      • +1

Basically a short SATA drive with USB 3 adaptor.

        • I'm an idiot. I didn't even realise it due to the scale

@kingmoron: Don't worry I thought exactly the same thing :)

    • I want to know what's inside the D30 but no teardown video everywhere

        I think it's a nerfed sn500. Sn500e. Ie not worth the hassle

It's funny how you can buy this a 1TB portable SSD for the previous gen Xbox console for $129. Great price.

Yet a 1TB expansion card SSD for the Xbox Series X sets you back $349 what a ripoff still.

Tho I agree it’s a rip-off but it’s not a fair comparison at least the newer gen is pcie4 with much faster speed. Microsoft should add general nvme drive support on their next platform like the PS5 does tho.

      • -4

If all you want is just more game storage and don't care much about the extra speed to save a few seconds on game load times. But since Microsoft forces NVMe for all Xbox Series S&X games that costs multiple times more in price.

        • You can use USB drive for additional storage on XBX too

@rainbowyen: And if holly can't spring for that maybe they can stick to floppy disks.

          • @rainbowyen: But only for Xbox One games.

            • +1

@hollykryten: What’s ur point? You use this drive as external storage on last gen you can only play Xbox One games as well, faster reading speed is necessary for current gen games, this feature has been used during the game design phase, it’s not just “you don’t care lower loading speed” it will affect gaming experience so you have to use it. I don’t have XBX but for PS5 it’s the same. For example Ratchet an Clank you have to fast shift between scenes and it wouldn’t be possible with slower drives. In short faster drive is more like a built in feature for games

  • The 1TB D30 Black got a Blue SN550 inside and a hot running bridge inside, can remember the specific name, but it's the one starts with A
