$1000 more than I got the 65g1 last year, not sure it's a $1000 improvement.

I lasted checked TGGC about a fortnight ago and the 2022 models weren't listed, but many of them now are:

    55" A2 $2659
    65" A2 $3517

    42" C2 $2316
    48" C2 $2573
    55" C2 $2916
    65" C2 $3860
    77" C2 $6863
    83" C2 $9436

    55" G2 $3431
    65" G2 $4546

  • Whats the difference between the G1 and G2 (except the model number). Any noteworthy improvements to justify the cost? I also got the G1 65" last year for $3480 delivered (on sale of course) so a $1K price difference needs to be justifiable.

      As stolen from RTINGS.com

There aren't many significant differences between them, but the LG G2 OLED is a bit better overall than the LG G1 OLED. The G2 is a lot brighter, especially when displaying small, bright highlights in HDR. The G2 also has slightly improved smart features, including hands-free voice control and an updated smart interface that now supports multiple user profiles. Finally, the G2's HDMI ports support 48Gbps bandwidth instead of the 40Gbps limit on the G1.

I believe a lot of the improved brightness is put down to the fact the panel now has a heatsink behind it.

      • Has it finally got 1gbs Lan port this year ?

        • +1

negative… although the G2 models have been confirmed as having wifi 6

This would work with it - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/703538

@kudoz: Doubt it unless you have personally tested it with a C1 or C2 it won't work. TVs don't have driver support for stuff like this..

      • but does it auto shut off when you fall asleep on the couch?

    • The smart features are a lot faster if you use the inbuilt apps.
The peak brightness is apparently 20% brighter but not sure how noticable unless viewing side by side.

    • From all of the reviews (real reviews as opposed brochures delivered via youtube).

      • G2 is a very high quality set and some reviews still see it as having an edge over the new Samsung tech in terms of pure picture quality and accuracy.
      • It's an incremental improvement on last years G1 but it has been suggested it is a bigger improvement than the G1 was over the GX.
      • Adding all the upgrades together: some GX/G1 issues now rectified in terms of picture processing, it's faster (OS and processor) and brighter.
      • Vs the GX it would appear to be a decent improvement overall.

Vs the Gx and G1, is it worth dropping serious cash to repalce what are still better TV's than 90% of the market…. I wouldn't think so. If you were going to pull the trigger on a runout G1 that is still around….. I would personally wait for good pricing on the G2.

      • Might want to read a review that measures, compares, and waits for an important firmware update after launch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpDBAZ0vNuo

The Samsung S95B is a show stopper, assuming it ever arrives here. Biggest drawbacks are the pink tint in a lit room, and the lack of 120Hz BFI.

        • Ha! hadn't seen Vincent's updated review. thanks

So the first dot point needs amendment, new Samsung may have the edge now but clearly still some niggles (no such thing as the perfect TV yet!)

As you noted, availability is questionable and who knows re cost. The other points stand and the G2 wins out on form factor and the gapless wall mount. For now, it still appears to be one of the best TV's you can buy.

          • @BB-AU: Cost should be directly competitive with the C2.

Do people upgrade their TVs every year when new models comes out?

    • +2

      Gotta catch em all!

You mean to say you don’t have a 65” OLED in every room?

    • They do not.

      • Plenty do, oddly.

I did switch from 2015 to 2019 models though but I got a great offer on the old models.

  • Been looking at a C1/C2 and see lots of people say C1 is great value compared to C2 ATM.

However I feel some of the features of these screens are wasted if I don't use them for gaming. I will purely use it just for netflix/shield 4k movies/FTA TV/Youtube. Am I wasting money on something like this rather than looking at another cheaper option?

  • +1

Seeing as the 65" C1 can be had for ~$2500 at the moment, I think it's an absolute steal at that price.

Admittedly it's not cheap, but I really think the general TV/movie experience is far better with OLED. And if you're the kind who will keep the TV for many years, I'd say it's worth it

Any price on G1 77 inch?

    • +1

      OLED77G1PTA
      $5995.00

      • JB now has them for $4,976 not a bad price drop in a month! and the appears to be a vey good price for 77 let alone a flagship OLED
