      Boost yeah?

        Telstra prepaid first

    • I’m currently on Telstra prepaid and I get 5G.

      • Are you on high end plan? I'm on $150 6 month plan but no 5g

        • Only the higher month to month prepaid gets 5g, none of the long term plans get 5g anymore.

        • Nah I’m on one of those prepaid casual plan. I pay $30 for 6 months and use data from my data bank.

          • @kaal: I am on one of their old plans and getting 5g as well. I do 150 for 6 months

          • @kaal: U must their legacy customer, no wonder

      • Same hete

    • They do $60 per month prepaid 5g

I got this email tonight and it said $1000 gift card

    https://i.imgur.com/6ElCGFH.png

    • ‘Wicked Wednesday’ tomorrow only.

    • How come it says $800 on the website and $1000 on the email?

    • +2

hey mate, remove the link and upload a screenshot if you like. Anyone can easily change your subscription status and access your JB account preferences/

      • +1

Good find mate, I reported it.

How to you get $10 credit off for new customer port into Telstra?

  • +1

Just wondering if this SIM could be used to run household internet (?), otherwise what would be the use for so much data / month

    • Get a $15 data SIM to run a 4G router for home, link both SIMs and share the data.

      • Isn't there a 5G router? Sorry don't have much idea on the technology

        • Yes. They are but very expensive around $500. A $100+ 4G router should serve well in home and not so demanding use.

    • Would like to know this as well, if this SIM can be put into modem/router for home internet use

      • I have been using a 5g modem for a year. Pretty sure you can.

      • Yes, confirm this works in a modem

  • +1

In store only and use the handset used by 100s of people to confirm your identity to Telstra

Why is jb still at Stone Age ?

    • Yeah, it's such an awkward process.
No doubt they're going to be very busy as well.

  • They also have the Galaxy S22 256gb for $0 on this plan as well.

  • +10

1 day only offer should be 12 month not 24 lol

  • +2

    24 months is greedy Telstra

  • +3

    Last year, i got $69/m for 12 months + $800 credit. 300gb 5g plan.

    • Is there any previous ozb post that you can put here? I don't think Jb ever give higher than $500 gift card for 12 months contract. This is the best that you can usually get https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/673656.

      • -1

        Back when before the Samsung fold3 and flip3 was released I received 2 x $1000 gift cards for signing up to 2 x $69/m x 12m plans and got a fold3 and flip3 at $1000 less each.

        Here's the link https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655408

    • I also got this deal with a 11 inch ipad pro:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/641157

Still has two months before contract expires. Will see what Telstra has then

      • Me too. Think it is time to go back to NBN after it expires. I got 700m download speed, 300gb is a pain to play with.

    • last year i got the $99/m for 12 months + $1200 credit. 200GB 5G Plan. I think this was during covid lockdown or about to be lock down again. i had to go in store and i felt like i was the only one in the entire Westfield's.
My plan is going to expire next month. i need to port out and port back into something for 12 months preferably.

      • Really? I know there is some good offers, but that's basically just free for 12 months.

      • But looks like it’s never posted on Ozb?

  • +1

Decent deal, to bad it's not for existing customers as well. Shame on Telstra!

    • If you actually need 300gb per month, sure.

  • you need a 5G coverage and $41.5 per month after the gift card, but what happen after 24 months?

p.s. from the website, if you dont want the $900 gift card you can get $0 (Free?) upfront for those phones (not sure if they locked to Telstra)…

Ooooph 24 months. It's not 1998 with subsidised Nokia's sorry

  • Would this still work if I get a random pre-paid number (say from Optus), activate it today… then use this number to port?
Thinking of using this sim with 300GB for home internet use (stick it in a 4G/5G modem router), and don't want to port my main number and stick that in a home 4G/5G modem router.

    • Yup this would work

      • Just spoke to a Telstra operator (call centre) and they mentioned that you can't use mobile sims in 'dongles' (i.e. cellular modem routers). If Telstra detects that a mobile sim (as opposed to data-only sim) is being used in a 'dongle' they will first send warnings to the user, then if it continues they will suspend (barred) the service but still keep charging you until you give Telstra a call to get it unsuspected (unbarred).

Have you used a regular Telstra sim (like this one in this deal) on a 'dongle' before?

Edit: Also found this in the terms and conditions (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0024/9803/5810/files/JB-Hi…)

        "Monthly Data
All data expires at the end of the month and is not shareable.
Data is for personal use in a smartphone only. Our FairPlay
policy applies. Data is for use in Australia."

  • hmm - would you then get the $20 port in credit?

  • Would i be able to pick up a pre-paid sim from Vodaphone or Optus, then use that number to get the port in Deal on the same Day?
as i am currently with Telstra and want to upgrade my plan?
Or is there a minimum number of days you need to be with the Pre-paid sim before they honour the deal?

    • +1

From my understanding, if you have a Voda or Optus you can port straight over.

It's only if you port out of telstra to voda then port back in, they COULD flag that your number has not been in the telstra network for longer than 30 days, where as the voda/optus sim/number was never in their network.

  • Thought to share my experience here, copied from the other thread.

Just went to sign up with the idea of getting the gift card but pulled out due to a) plan cost is $99 with $20 discount for 24 months. Ergo unlikely to get additional port in credit from Telstra and b) JB offered plans won’t data pool with another Telstra plan sim.

As I don’t need a new phone this isn’t the plan for me but I am on the hunt as I do need to leave Voda before my plan jumps $40 at the end of this month. Currently get $540gb across 2 sims for $72.50pm which gives me mobile + heaps of data for my 4G modem

Will be hoping for more EOFY deals over the next few weeks - else, smaller plan time!

  • I’m currently on Telstra, anyone know how long I need to port out (say to Optus) before I can port back in to nab this deal? I need a new iPhone :-)

    • Following for the same reason — anyone got any clue? I'm looking to jump on the s22 ultra deal

  • Merged from Bonus $900 JB Hi-Fi Giftcard When You Sign up/Port-in to Telstra $79/M 2-Year SIM Plan (in-Store Only) @ JB Hi-fi

For those who have no use for the bonus 65" Hisense TV or the $800 TGG Giftcard via this deal, you can get basically the same Telstra mobile plan deal with JB Hi-Fi but with a bonus $900 JB Hi-Fi Giftcard instead.

$79 Telstra Plan monthly over 24 months, 300GB data with unlimited talk and text. Revert back to $99 at the end of 24 months. Minimum cost $1896 after credit. Offer ends 15/6/2022. Available in-store only.

    $99 Plan T&C

    • +2

I normally pay $30 max to prepaid per month. So $1896 - $720. $280 extra for more data per month + $900 cash like gift card.

I didn't need the extra data in the first place.
I don't have the urgent need to spend money at JB HiFi

Appealing deal for many who has the logical combination.

Thank you for sharing the post.

@GuestShopper: I personally think this deal sucks. $59/mth with $400-500 gift card on 12mth plan only or I send it back.

Also prepaid doesn't allow lte watches to be added. There is still a fee on postpaid

@GuestShopper: I have the $150 6-month expiry recharge and I got a text from Telstra this week that 5G would be available. To be fair, I have always had 5G on my plan for whatever reason but the text made it seem that 5G had been added to all prepaid recharges.

“Great news, we’ve added 5G access to all Pre-Paid plans & recharges at Telstra until 26 September 2022. This includes 0***********. Want to see how your 5G speed is performing? Turn your Wi-Fi off to test your mobile connection and speed performance tel.st/speedtestios. Your data allowance will not be impacted by this test. To access 5G, you’ll need a 5G compatible device in a 5G coverage area. To find out more visit tel.st/5g-trial”

                • @smokeymr: Cool. I am glad they are letting us try it. Now I need the JB card for a 5G phone.

            • +1

@2pro4sho: Actually yes it does. All users able to trial it for free until September, which at that time I can only assume it will cost a certain price.

        • +1

$79 for a Sim only is rediculous when catch with Optus is $10 a month for 120gb 365 day plan not locking you in for 2 years. A lot of hype about 5g. Most people probably don't even care about it nor feel they have to pay extra for it. Plus have to upgrade phones to get it.

      • +1

Since I have discovered getting the belong $80 starter pack for points/free every 4 month, these jb offers seems way overpriced.

Yes 5g. Most ppl don’t have 5g phone.

    • Is there any way to share this data with a secondary sim for say an ipad?

      • Monthly Data

All data expires at the end of the month and is not shareable. Data is for personal use in a smartphone only. Our FairPlay policy applies. Data is for use in Australia.

    • I got 1000 GC this week, that was one day deal

    • +6

      say NO to 24m

    • +1

Hoping for a better deal soon.

    • Might be stating the obvious here, but the 12mo 59$ with 500$ they do around Christmas is a better deal unless you use over 80gb

    • There are usually better mobile plans every 6 months. It's a terrible idea to lock into a very long 24 month contract.

    • +1

Its 75" inches tv not 65"

  • So I was at JB yesterday for the Telstra deal and realised you could technically get a $1450 GC for the $79 deal.
Telstra peeps will give you the GC after signed up so you can use at checkout for the phone, but then, you could just walk out with the GC instead, and hope they won't chase after you.

    • The other thought is, you use it in the phone. Then walk to another JB and refund it, they see the transaction as the phone paid by GC (and whatever if there was a delta)

And you’d get a refund plus a new gift card…

    • So theoretically you can opt for the Galaxy Fold and get an even bigger gift card?

      • Thanks for your post. I did this, had to return the phone unopened.

  • Does anyone know if porting in from a Telstra pre-paid counts? Or is that already considered in the network?

    • It needs to be from non telstra network.

      • Thank you.

  • Will they accept no upfront and receive 400$ gift voucher for Galaxy Fold?

  • 2G you was lucky to see 1gb as it was mostly text/sms. 1-3gb became the norm under 3G, 4G 5-10gb (base plans around $10 a month) ~ the cost if 1gb of data DROPS in cost to the telco as the speeds and amount of data the network can handle goes UP. FELIX offer unlimited data on 4G/LTE Vodafone coverage for $35 and a reasonable 20mbs
