  • Which one is better deal, this or Dyson V8 Animal Handstick Vacuum (2022) $474.05?

    • +6

That deal is actually a 2021 model. The title is incorrect.

2022 models comes with the new Motorbar cleaner head. If you check the comments on that other deal you'll find a Dyson employee explaining the differences.

      • I'm still very much confused 😅
So there is no more Absolute? How does the Absolute differ?

        • +1

Refer to comment made by Dyson Employee:

The new version seems to replace the V8 animal primarily.
Doesn’t seem to be a direct replacement for V8 Absolute currently, however the V8 Absolute sku hasn’t been part of Dyson’s core range for many years and is only brought back periodically.
Those that want the fluffy head will likely have to order it from Dyson as an optional extra. (https://www.dyson.com.au/support/replacement-parts/vacuum-cl…). Note that the new V8 sku will be priced at the Animal’s RRP, below the Absolute’s RRP. Hope that answers your question.

      • So is this the newer 2022 model then? Sorry it wasn't clear for me.

      • +1

I bought a v8 origin about a month ago, apparently came with the 'Direct drive cleaner head' not the 'Motorbarâ„¢ cleaner head'. Its it really much to worry about? There are so many minor differences and attachments on these flippin things.

The one i got looks like the Direct drive cleaner head, it seems to work well on low pile carpets and hard floors. It is the genuine part for the v8, see the accessories list above. Doubt anyone would tell the difference to be honest.

Hard to tell if mine is a 2022 or 2021 ( different MPN and EAN from above link).

        • Only if you regularly get it tangled up with hair.

          • @WhyAmICommenting: Yeah Either of the main attachments are fine, don't even look much difference

    • +3

      Only difference is the attachments

I’ve currently got Laminate and Carpet. Will this work on both floors or will it be hung up on my wall indefinitely like my trophy animals?

    • No

  • +1

That's a lot more than 3 extra attachments.

Bought the 2022 v8 recently for $440 from the same seller, came with the new floor/carpet tool, and the duster. Decided to buy the hair screw tool separately, but all those extra bits would be handy.

  • What’s the difference between this and the v8 absolute? I’ve been looking for the absolute but Im a bit confused..

    • The biggest difference would be lack of Fluffy cleaner head and mini motorised tool.

      • So there’s no mechanical differences besides the lack of tools? I feel like at this point it’s cheaper to buy this and the additional head then to get the absolute

        • +1

The only difference between all the V8 range is the attachments.

  • will it get cheaper than this in the next few months?

    • +9

let me consult my crystal ball

  • This vs dreame t20 pro for $499 from costco?
Need help before I pull thr trigger..

    • Costco you have 90 day free trial vs Dyson 30 day, get both return one

  • wait are they saying it only comes with 3 extra tool if brought direct from Dyson ebay/Dyson official website or can i get the extra 3 items included when getting from jbhifi, good guys and so on

    • +2

JB, Good Guys, etc. all stock model: 394437-01

The Exclusive Edition (model: 394441-01) only seems to be available direct from Dyson so I'm assuming that's where the name comes from.

      • thanks for that, do you know if there is any difference? as just checked Good Guys and it shows that it comes with 3 extra attachments aswell

        • +1

The one from Good Guys, JB, etc. doesn't include the Mini soft dusting brush, fabric and mattress tool, or up-top adaptor shown in the image below.

          https://d3d71ba2asa5oz.cloudfront.net/12037099/images/ebaycf…

          • @HomeAlone: Shit, I was so damn sure they included it and got one from them…oh well will see if they can include the extras when I go to collect

        • +1

it's more like 5 extra attachments Over the origin model (which isn't a bad deal.. always the way)

  • +3

also cheaper through good guys if you do Paypal by 4 get $120 back just have to add like a $1 item to be over 500

    • +1

      What's this 120 back thing?

    • Too late to return my standard v8 ($440 via eBay, over 30 days) but paid $59 for the hair screw tool delivered -didn't use paypal so no free returns.
Would almost get the goodguys deal and sell this (but too much stuffing around if can't return for free).

I wouldn't have minded the crevice tool and the Fabric & Mattress Tool (and wouldn't have really needed the hairscrew tool without pets but it's a nice attachment).
I guess any generic dumb parts like those would work but have emailed the seller. Looks like the mini soft dusting brush and Combination tool are extras as well.

$381 sounds like a good price after the $120 cashback. No doubt it's a store credit?

All Bonus Store Credits will expire within seven (7) days of the Credit Dispatch Date (July
      14, 2022).

Wonder if Dyson is included in the 22% off ebay sale today - assume not.

      • "V8 Cordless Vacuum, Motorbar(TM) cleaner head, Combination tool, Crevice tool, Hair Screw tool, Docking Station, Charger"

The good guys come with the above so only 3 tools I believe missing

        • Oh right, guess the prices usually reflect what you get on terms of accessories. The eBay listing contents for the exclusive model seemed pretty comprehension, sounded like good guys would be the same package.

Shame I already got the basic origin and hair screw tool, still need a few dumb basic attachments before I could do away with my old corded vacuum.

          • @G-rig: Yep I mean you can get the extra 3 tools as it is worth $79 as dyson says so could use the voucher to get those and it would still be cheaper but like $10 cheaper than the OP listing

            • @michael9865: That's an idea, probably just easier getting the eBay deal, or click and collect be ok too from GG.

Do you have a link for the extra tools kit? I should have orders that skinny edging tool for like $11 when I ordered the hair screw, since had to pay shipping from Dyson. The hair screw works ok on couches but the smaller dumb one would have done.

Edit: I'm in it for $499 for the origin and the hair screw so probably not bad just need some cheap dumb attachments. Don't know if you need the bendy up top thing.

    • what would you buy at Good Guys?

      • If you mean the $1 item, I got that active green bottle for $4 to he above $500

        • True, what about with the 120$ Goodguys voucher that expires after a week?

          • @G-rig: Don't know yet, have a month to think about it, maybe an extra dyson battery. the vouchers get released around July 17

            • @michael9865: Yeah I'm sure you'd find something, just have to have ideas ready and may not be a great deal.

Still not sure what's meant by pal pal 4.. four payments?

So sounds like the package contents should be the same if Goodguys selling the exclusive model?

  • Just wondering is the $499 full price or discounted price already? if it's full price, I might hold my thirst till the Xmas sale…should I wait or pull the trigger now? thanks.

    • Normally $799

      • +1

wow, I probably should buy now then. thanks for that. By the way, I just noticed if you buy directly from Dyson, you can get the extension hose (worth $29) for free at the moment. This bridges the gap between them and this deal. So $25 more for 1 more accessory (https://www.dyson.com.au/dyson-v8-vacuum-exclusive)

        • Always something.
Don't see them getting that much cheaper, the eBay deals are pretty good. The basic v8 Origin I got hardly came with anything but was on special $499 from $850. $440 from eBay seemed good. Could have used more free attachments though.

Hopefully price protection claim within a year again anyway.

        • +1

Yep use zip and get 5% back from Dyson official website which makes it the same price as this and you get the extra attachment in top

          • @michael9865: Good idea, personally I'd do 28d price protection claim (plus future price drops)

Hmm maybe worth ordering for all those attachments and selling my v8 origin and hair screw tool? Next to new, just bad timing on the better bundle and buying the accessories separately ain't cheap.

        • Buying from Dyson is the better deal. Cashrewards has 10% on Dyson till 11.59pm today, brings it down to ~$455 with an extension hose (so four accessories in total vs. 3 with eBay store)

  • +2

Just bought this using the Cheddar $20 signup bonus plus 20% cashback offer: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702403. Cashback was tracked instantly and brings it down to $388.28.

    • +1

I just did the same, which is to purchase the V8 exclusive edition via the Cheddar app using Dyson's site instead of eBay with signup bonus of $20 and cashback of 20%. It took about 3 minutes but it is tracking $90.72 as pending. Just need that $20 to track and some time to get it down to $388.xx

      • +2

The $20 was tracked in my Cheddar account upon sign-up even before I proceeded with the Dyson purchase. Meanwhile I found this other Cheddar $70 sign-up offer: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/699335 that doesn't appear to be linked to StepPay sign-up/usage.

        • +1

Just checked to make sure I did the correct process to get the sign-up bonus and it seems I have, I'll email them about it. Thanks for letting me know!

        • +1

Thanks for that. I just used the $70 sign-up offer, which immediately showed in the app as "pending". Bought the V8 Exclusive through the app but no cashback showing up for that yet. I'll give it a few days to track. Theoretically, if I ever actually manage to withdraw the cashback, it'll bring the price down to $338.27, which is a steal given that 2nd hand V8 Absolutes are going for $350 on Gumtree.

          • +2

@Maguni: Good luck, comments were hit and miss on the other thread but that sure would be cheap. The app sounds like turd, is it only for CBA bank customers? As long as you get the 20% off its it's still good (assume before tax), makes it $408.

Not keen on step pay and all that (whatever it is) but occasionally use afterpay if it makes the price real sharp.

            • +1

@G-rig: Step-Pay seems to require a CBA account but Cheddar did not. It lets you add any BSB & account details through the app. Whether I end up being able to withdraw to said account remains to be seen.

              • @Maguni: Ah right, fingers crossed hey

          • @Maguni: V8@$338.27. Brilliant!

      • Looks like the 20% off deal expires today?

Mine $20 bonus didn't show up on my first signup. I ended up with uninstalling & reinstalling the app, and following the link on the website again to activate the bonus successfully.

    • Never heard of this Cheddar thing. FFS just bought the V8 Exclusive edition with from Dyson online (includes Bonus extension hose worth $29 with purchase) for $499, minus $11.34 cash rewards, 28d claim to this deal $474.05 = $462.71

Perhaps i should see if 28d can price match the Cheddar 20% off, has to be an aussie site or store though. Or email Dyson.

Anyway no doubt they'll drop in price within 12 months and could do without another app. Some peoples sign up $ aren't tracking, but the 20% off is pretty good @ $399.20

    • Cool move..I just ordered few hours ago from eBay using gift cards bought from shopback. Now thinking if I should cancel the order and buy through Cheddar. I am concerned on how the refund will be processed as I paid through gift cards

      • Sounds too hard..
What's your time worth. The RRP was/is a lot more, not that you'd pay that but all the extras at the moment are good value anyway (look up each one and they aren't cheap to buy later).

        • Dyson has all these extras and one more extension pipe in addition to these..20% cash back from Cheddar makes this deal sweet. I am checking with eBay if the order can be cancelled..and the Cheddar deal ends tonight 😔

Does anybody know if Motorbar(TM) is suitable for hard floor?

  • Thanks so much for the info and deals on this item. Does anyone know if the GG deal can also be done via a cashback site? I can't see anything in the T&C's that negates it but would love to hear if anyone else had done it successfully first.

    Many thanks.

  • I have a border collie that sheds constantly. Which of these 2 Dysons that are on offer would be better? I would think the Animal, given the name, but I see that this one has more attachments

    • Yeah scroll up mate, mostly about the attachments.
You'd want the motorbar and hair screw tool for pets

  • Anyone with Ebay plus can confirm this code: PLFY20 works with this item?

    Thanks

    • Just tried for you mate. It doesn't work.

      • +1

        Cheers!

  • Is there a better deal than this $399 plus buying a separate $149 soft roller if you have a house with hard floors?

Starts to sound expensive if you dont have carpets….

  • If I read the specs correctly, in normal operation the v8 has less suction power than the v6.
On boost the v8 is more powerful, but lasts a measly 7minutes, 1 minute longer than the v6.

Have a v6, replaced the battery 2 years ago and it has been as good as new, but now the brushes on the head are gone, pain to clean all the hair out (dog and females), and needs a new filter (relatively cheap). Considering an upgrade.

Reviews say the v8 is a substantial upgrade, but I don't see it. Does anyone have any real-word experience going from v6 to v8?

    • +1

The suction power in the Dyson V8 Origin is claimed to make the vacuum better at capturing fine dust, at least compared to the Dyson V7 Animal Origin, and gives a longer runtime of 40 minutes. It also uses 'whole machine filtration' to capture allergens and provide cleaner air.

      https://www.canstarblue.com.au/appliances/dyson-stick-vacuum…

      • Good point. You reminded me that suction is one component, vibration and type of vibration is arguably more important.

        • They're all pretty good
Better than me Bosch Athlet I replaced I guess, no attachments and had that intermittent power cut (but cleaning the chip connectors mau have fixed it)

  • Thanks Op.

I managed to get it down to ~$431 using the 10% bonus giftz voucher

    • -1

what gift card was accepted by dyson website?

      • Just swapped it for the ebay gift card as this deal is for dyson ebay.

  • +1

Got it down to $414 with Chedder $70 and 3% cashback.

You don't need to go through the CBA app just follow the link https://www.getcheddar.com.au/steppay

If you're an existing customer use your missus phone to download the app. Signing out and making a new ACC on the same phone doesn't work

    • Could I ask how you did this? I just installed cheddar using your link, and I can't find ebay anywhere on the app…

      • Sorry use the Dyson website through the app.

        • Thank you so much :)

        • Sorry trying to do this but unable to search for Dyson on the search bar on the cheddar app ?

          • +1

@pizzapock3t: Search function is bad. Dyson is there after scrolling through heaps of merchants.

            • @F1ngolf: Thanks mate, ordered through cheddar. Any idea on how long tracking actually takes ?

              • @pizzapock3t: No worries. My purchase was tracked within an hour last week.

                • @F1ngolf: Tracked already, 3% works of pre GST price so worked out to be $13.60 bringing total price to $415.40

  • +2

FYI - this is back in stock on Dyson eBay on another eBay listing link. Same price $499 and apply the FYXTRA for additional 5% off

7% off with eBay Plus coupon SAVE7TB

      • +1

The mods linked the wrong URL. Would you be able to edit it?

        • +1

Wouldn't let me change it. I've sent a report.

    • Or bonus extension hose if order from Dyson directly (good if you can price claim the difference).

I've already bought an exclusive mode, $464 is a pretty good price, still waiting for 28d to approve $449 (with that AFT10 code), so far only down to $474 (and 2.5% cashrewards on the Dyson site).

Dyson Ebay has allowed me to return the Origin v8 for a change of mind, much better value getting all the attachments with the better bundles. Still have a new/spare hair screw tool, and can return the complete cleaning kit.

  • Looks like cash rewards 5% at the moment.

  • Received the Exclusive edition and bonus hose- seems like as many attachments as one will ever need, will test it for cleaning the car today.

Just noticed the unit doesn't have all the yellow/warning type stickers over it (like the origin), assume this is normal?

    • Hi, do you have any feedback yet?

      • Sorry in what aspect?
        Good stuff Dysons

        • Interested to know on all the attachments that came with it as I'm tossing between this and the V8 animal. TIA

          • +1

@double_J: Oh ok, well i think it's as many attachments as you'd need, the bonus extension hose from the Dyson site is handy for the car, hard to clean otherwise. The car kit extension otherwise be alright.

The newer motorheads (tangle free) are good.

            • @G-rig: Thank you! Appreciate your feedback.
