Are you able to make one of these with a less ostentatious case? I'm looking for a very basic non-RGB case, preferably with a vented side panel instead of an tempered glass one.

    • +5

I am currently not in the market for a PC, but I would like to strongly emphasise this ask. There is a large cohort of gamers who prefer clean, minimalistic cases with no lights or useless windows. The first thing I did when I bought my last PC (from TechFast, by the way) was disabling all the RGB lights.

    • +15

RGB can be disabled on all case fans by holding down the button controlling the lighting for a few seconds. In the Maverick there is a cable controlling the front LED strip that can be disconnected. But I take yours and other comments over the journey on board - the challenge is finding minimalist cases that offer good airflow, at the right price, in sufficient quantity for our purposes. We can and do invest in our own cases to meet demand when possible. It's on my list!

    • Not a solution for many if not most but depending on where the PC is actually going to sit, the glass panel might not be visible at all. My PC sits directly to the right of my desk making the glass panel impossible to see, and making the PC generally not look 'gaming' at all.

      • It's less about looks and more about cooling. I like to add additional side fans, and tempered glass is way harder to modify than aluminium of sheet steel

        • Not sure if the same for all cases but my glass panel is completely removable, surely one like that is easist to modify since you can just replace it entirely?

          • @lozzag123: I mean, kinda? When I say modify I mean drill holes in it to mount fans, which is definitely harder to do to 2-3mm of tempered glass without cracking it.

    • +1

This. Never got the idea of the disco lights.

    • Those probably don't sell well to the masses.

  • +11

The title is misleading. Should be $907 + delivery. Or change to 16GB 2666MHz RAM instead.

The base RAM configuration for the price stated in the title at $888 is for 16GB [2666MHz] DDR4 RAM (2 x 8GB Modules).

    You need to add $19 for 16GB [3200MHz] DDR4 RAM (2 x 8GB Modules)

    • Agreed. Misleading title and description.

    • +15

Unintentional, but will fix shortly, thanks

      • +3

Nonetheless a pretty nice well rounded budget build at current prices đŸ‘đŸ»

    • +6

Even better, you've made it at $888 for 2x 8GB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM! Thanks Luke!

  • how good and reliable are techfast? living in rural qld

    • +1

For me they are super reliable, from the evening i ordered till I received my build all the way from Adelaide to Sydney took only 5 working days. Packaging was well solid and safe, no issue at all!

      • wow. my friend's took 1.5 months from adelaide to sydney back in december.

        • +2

In December i had an item from melbourne to sydney take that long (not from techfast).

          • @mangoman: i guess it was just a very busy time, specially since it was christmas. hats off to the delivery workers.

        • Yeah my purchase was end of April, not those busy Xmas time

Nice to see sub $1k gaming pre-builts with decent specs back available, we've seen some dark times the last couple of years

  • If only this had been up yesterday, there was nothing sub $1k on offer.
Still got one of your 3080 gaming PC's but had to look elsewhere for something basic.

Any chance of doing another mini ITX build similar to this?

ITX not our space sorry. Maybe one day but not in short/medium term

      • +1

All good - thanks for the reply

  • Are these available unbuilt?

  • +4

So close to the golden days of rx570 systems at ~500 lol

  • +1

I'm wondering, where is that line when "Budget Gaming PC" stops to be a gaming PC? Absence of RGB? :)

    • +3

Remove the graphics card and turn off the RGB and you have a "highly expandable office machine".

      • +5

Just make sure not to remove it if you have an intel F CPU!

Even you dont wanna wait for EOFY sale, at around $1000, you can get better SSD, PSU, RAM and a 6600XT. You can reuse case or get a used one locally.

Or save $80 to get 6600 from BPC: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/704984

    • It’s assembled with warranty đŸ€·. Pretty good deal if you play the occasional game

  • Any chance of an AMD build around the same price Luke? Cheapest on your site is $1550. Thanks

  • +1

My friend's purchase from the previous deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/699317 has been delayed twice now supposedly because of the CPU, with option to either upgrade the 11400F, B560 to a 12400F, B660 for $100 which seems very expensive or downgrade to a 10400F for a $20 refund which inversely looks like too little. I'll give TF the benefit of the doubt because I've had good experiences in the past but be aware of the waiting times and subpar value "options" to get your PC in quicker.

  • How would this work a 1440p screen that’s capped at 60fps? Enough to play modern games decent enough (don’t care about super high FPS)? Eg f1 2021 or MSFS. I assume strategy games will work well over 60 FPS

    • -3

How would this work a 1440p screen that’s capped at 60fps?

      It doesn’t

      • Thank you

        • -2

          You’re welcome sir

      • +6

What bullshit response. It would play majority of games fine at 1440p 60hz. A quick google could tell you that.

  • I thought the basic entry level H610M chipset motherboards wern't good for gaming. More for business use?

    • More for business use?

      Correct

  • Will it support 4K 120HZ HDMI Output?

    • -1

      No

    • Just for basic display output for casual Youtube watching and browsing the web? Yes it will. Playing video games? Depends on the game and you may be be asking a bit much to run at 4K 120hz with this computer.

  • OP are you planning on releasing anymore EOFY deals?

  • Can you really call this a “gaming pc”?

    • +2

Could play most games at 1440p no problem though. Seems like it games to me!

    • -2

      Definitely a no

  • +8

Either we have a lot of elitist gamers with amazing battle stations borne of dedicated hours of spent wages and PC assembly, or we have too many kids spending their parents plastic trolling this thread.

I dunno, hope those kids make it far in life with a recession rolling in.

Wrote this as I'm out of negs for the night.

    • These kids are actually adults which is scary.

    • Yeah, I play games at 4k on my 2070 Super and i7 7700k; so I’m kinda unsure what games these guys are playing that require a super computer. I imagine this pc is basically the same as mine, half the ram and much less storage

  • Any ETA on shipping the AMD 3060ti builds?

  • Coupon is either invalid, expired or reached it's usage limit!

    • It's working for me, copying both from the OzB copy field and from the deal body text

      • Thanks working again now …
        any idea on delivery timeframes

        • I placed an order a couple of days ago. The seller told me that it would ship next week or the following week. It would take about five business days to get it delivered. I live in QLD. Hope this helps.

  • Noob here. Is this better than those recent laptop deals with rtx3060 for around 1k to 1.2k for gaming?

    • +1

PC is almost always better for gaming due to thermals and less chance of throttling

      • Laptop is portable and has better resell value

        • Na no way. Pc parts out and has better resale value over time. I do it on the reg - $50 PSU, $60 case, upwards of $150 on a standard GPU, $150 plus on cpu/mobo combo, $50 upward on ram, and that’s on a decade old pc that was decent for its time. No way you can flip a laptop that old for over $400 at minimum, and that’s half the cost of this

    • +1

Obviously it depends on the specific laptop, but in general, most of those deals have a better processor and the RTX3060 is a faster video card, so the laptop would be a better gaming rig.

Downsides being the laptop is less upgradable and costs more than this, unless you also need a monitor in which case you'd almost even out.

      • Thanks, I get the specs are better with the laptop but conflicting advice from the above comment about thermal and throttling.

        • You undervolt to stop throttling

          • @MuddyClear: That won’t stop throttling on GPU and CPU with intense workloads. The fans on a laptop don’t cut the mustard and overtime it will literally overheat and turn off. They are designed for portability: a gaming laptop is just a buzzword and you are getting ripped off. A pc with decent airflow and decent cpu radiator won’t do that

            • @DemocracyManifest:

That won’t stop throttling on GPU and CPU with intense workloads.

I don’t know about intense workloads but for gaming, on a gaming laptop, there are plenty of YouTube videos that show undervolting can stop throttling.

  • How would this perform with as PC VR setup (with upgrade to i5) with an occulus quest 2 and for some simple 3d modelling for 3D printing?

  • Luke I am ready to checkout but would like to pick up as I am in Adelaide and have done so with a previous purchase with no issues. I am unable to deselect a delivery option. Will you be able to refund the delivery cost post purchase ?
    Thanks. Moddy.

    • Hey Moddy, I've been crook so haven't been on here. This model has sold out unfortunately.

      • Lol it's fine. I bought it anyway. I contacted your team and was told no local pickup this time. 😞
Bummer since my last purchase I just whizzed down and grabbed it.
        Thanks anyway.

  • Hey Luke, have you seen the recently released Hyte Y60 case? Here's a video if you haven't. I'm curious if there's any chance you guys use it on a build?

    • +1

Have seen it yep, looks cool but seems to have some fundamental flaws including the need to remove the rear fan for lots of motherboards. Plus can't see an Australian distributor, so it's not looking doable for a few reasons.
