well.. sometime in future you wont be able to mine with 8gb mem.. so 12gb is future proof itself.. if mining survive of course which they may not
No in future you won't be able to mine ETH with 8gb (without going zombie) but you could still mine plenty of other things and that's currently estimated to be another 5 years anyway. So this stupid card has extra RAM that serves one single purpose of mining ETH that is still not relevant for 5 years.
It's an extremely bad time to be buying anything to do with mining, the only chance you have to really make anything decent is if the price of ETH goes up but if it does you would still be better off just buying ETH. Combined with rising power costs and next gen cards around the corner which are predicted to be 30-50% more efficient at mining it's just not a good time.
For this card specifically you would currently spend 50c a day on power (0.20c/kwh) to make $1.50 a day (0.03c/mh) and take somewhere around 2 years depending on power prices to get your 'ROI'
well back in 2017.. daily profit is $0.1 then defi summer 2020 happen and the rest is history.. now 2022 with solar panel + battery.. will it happen again?? only God knows
Yes but even if you think it will 'happen again' you are still better off just buying ETH with the capital

Power price hike will bring down GPU price.
