  • Just purchased 5, 240 minute delay before card activates. This kills the loophole.

They didn't have this delay 4 days ago.

    • What loophole are you referring to?

      • Using the card to buy another card, rinse and repeat until they are out of cards.

LOVE this change! Will help to spread the love

  • What is the correct url to check balance?

When I went to the address written on the card itself, chrome gave an error so I didn't proceed with it.

    • Mybalancenow.com

      • Side note, but the site sucks butt on phone for me. The captcha is all glitched out.

  • Just got 3 secured for myself now,

They apparently also now dont allow back to back transactions on gift card,
so if i wanted to pay for 1 GC with 1 card, and other 1 with another card, I must go to manned checkouts and pay in 1 transaction.

    • I just purchased 5 using one GC and one credit card. This was at the service desk

      • You really need a junior dummy/one who doesnt give a dam to be paying with GC,

I had to pay with Zip, and CC

        • +1

Don't ahow then your card just said eftpos

  • How do you know that the cards are ready to use? Is it literally 4 hours after the time shown on receipt?

  • Is there a way to stack these cards back together to purchase one costly item online such as MacBook?

    • Depends where you're buying it. You could potentially use the MasterCards to buy gift cards for that retailer if they have unlimited gift card redemption on their website.

It could be a lot of messing around for the discount (especially if you have to go into a store to buy the GCs then go home and buy online) but that's basically the unofficial OzB motto.

  • I am getting an error every time I try to login to check balance. Anyone able to login yet?

Just got 10 cards from my local Coles. Staff didn't really know what the promo was and I was the only OzBargainer there at 07:00.

My Hiver card was rejected when trying to pay for 5 cards in one go ($1156.50) using insert and PIN but went through perfectly fine for 4 cards ($925.20). I was able to repeat a second transaction of 4 cards and then again for 2 more so it seems there's a $1000 per individual transaction cap being applied by Hiver despite me asking them about this yesterday and being told that if you insert+PIN as long as funds are available there is no limit.

You also can't tap and pay more than $500 per day with Hiver so take the actual card with you.

As an aside the register operator commented "how do you have so much money?" and was very surprised I was able to spend $2313.00 just like that. It was good natured and the kind of comment I definitely would have made to my colleagues when I was a uni student. She just said it a little louder than she'd hoped and then looked mortified when I heard her. I just laughed and let her know it was ok.

    • Did you ask them to change the daily limit to $2000?

      • I messaged them yesterday and told them I'd like to make a $2000 purchase tomorrow and was told that as long as I insert+PIN it will work if there are funds available.

Obviously this was not the case. I will chat them again today and see what they say.

        • I got blocked after my first purchase of $925.20.
I was using my physical card.

SAV, VISA … nothing worked. Kept saying daily limit exceeded for the second round.

          • @DoctorCalculon: Hmm - maybe they did flip some switch when I got on chat yesterday to turn off my limit but just didn't tell me that happened.

          • @DoctorCalculon: That’s odd. I’ll find out later today I guess.

  • Can you use multiple cards at once?
Ie I want to purchase a $600 item at Bunnings, could I use 3x $250 in the one transaction? And what would happen to the remaining $150? I assume that just remains on that card?
    Thanks

    • +1

If the retailer accepts split payment method then I’d assume yes.

I’ve used cash and card in tandem before so I don’t see why multiple of the latter should be an issue, especially at Bunnings. You always have better chances if you don’t make any mention of the fact that it is a gift card

    • You could purchase Bunnings GC on Shopback and get another discount.

Lady in front of me is paying for her cards with multiple e-giftcards and is holding up the queue.

  • Only a handful of $100s in Brisbane city

    • for future reference, which Coles in the city does the catalogue specials ?

      • Last time I checked it was both Coles stores in the city. Today I only checked the one in Myer centre and it had the specials but just not the gift cards

    • Checked again and some $250s available now

  • Can you buy this from a coles gift card?

    • +1

Yes I used 5 $100 coles giftcards, she said it wouldn't work I said it would and it did.

      • Did you use the cloes E gift card please?

        • +1

          Yes

          • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Thanks for your clarification. I tried to purchase them through Aami lucky club this morning. Not working anymore. Which site will you recommen to get them please?

            • +1

@jiaqi518: I got them from Shopback during the bonus $3 reward with %2 cashback, so 5% discount… (edit $3 bonus over, so only %2 cashback currently)
Checkout lady did tell me it wouldn't work and I said it would so she rang it up and it worked.

              • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Do you know if Shopback accept Vanilla visa card from last sale please?

                • +1

@jiaqi518: Yes that's where I just minutes ago bought them. Sorry don't know about the last ones, I just used fresh ones.

              • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Lucky she let you sometimes they refuse.

                • @Yola: Nearly every staff member that served me when using egift cards said it wouldn't work, I told them it would so then pressed egift on their screens and they all went through,
One young lady that said it wouldn't work had a begrudged look on her face, kinda looked like she was just waiting to say told you so, then a surprised look on her face when it worked.

Have to wait 4 hours before they can be used.

  • can this card pay road registration online?

  • Got 6 250's so far, now have to wait before I can rinse wash and repeat unless I'm prepared to use my own money.

    • I know right. Do I spend 10k in my own money so I can do it all day haha

    • Signing each time won't bring it to their attention?

      • I’ve never been asked for a signature at Coles.

    • Rinse and repeat may not work this time (I could be wrong though). I just tried using the Vanilla Visa GC issue by the same bank as the new Coles MasterCard GC to pay for it but it didn't work. Has anyone had any luck paying using the Vanilla GCs?

      • You used Vanilla GC bought previously or the newly bought Coles MC (within 4h) in this deal to buy another Coles MC?

        • +1

I tried to pay for the Coles MC today using the Vanilla GC bought previously and it didn't work, I am assuming because both cards have the same issuer now.

          • @dealsgrabber: I see. Let me know if you trying the Coles MC later (4h after buying). I tried within 1 hour and it didn't work.

      • Yep same for me

  • Got 10 this morning ^^

😎🤙 frugal enough to arise at 7am to buy discounted gift cards, frivolous enough to buy random trash on the front page that's me

  • +1

I was at Coles near me a little after 8am. 100% cleaned out. Only the $50 ones remained, which are not on sale. I went to buy other things, but thought about buying one if they had any left. It's a good deal, but I'd want to spend the $ asap after activation. The security risks mentioned above were a bit worrisome. Maybe they put out more at a later time, but that's just a luck thing if you happen to be there and buy them.

  • Do these work on uber eats and Menulog and doordash??

  • back then there was a loophole with the old cards where you literally could use them to buy new cards again and again, some did that

  • Friend who works at coles said people were coming in Tuesday and grabbing all the gift cards and taking them home so they could bring them in today and buy them at the discounted price.

    • how does that work? will Coles then refund you the difference somehow ?

      • +1

lol, i think they actually mean they stole them

        • oh wow.. haha. That is not something I would attempt.

      • +1

I assume because they’re valueless until bought and activated they were just holding them and guaranteeing themselves some for the promo.

        • its still stealing, i am sure if you asked a team member if you could remove them from the store until the next day it would be a solid no

          • @peter05: For sure, they just pocketing them. I believe they pulled a lot off show yesterday to prevent it.

That store got just under a million in these gift cards.

Surprised people are struggling to find them already.

  • +1

Overheard staff hiding the $250 cards and when I asked about it they said none in stock…

  • Thanks OP!
    got 5x $250

    • I went to Coles yesterday night at 9pm (just before the shop door closed) and saw lost of $250 MC
    • This morning I arrived at 6.45am (waited there until the shop open at 7am) and I was the first customer to enter, there is none of the $250 MC……
    • tell the store manager

      • Lol no it was probably them.

  • Oakleigh VIC has heaps

    • +1

um….do I wage work and drive to Oakleigh and fulfil my Ozbargain duty…

      • +1

        Do it!

  • See how many people are questioned by front senior coles staff due to only buying gift cards.

    • +1

no, the question was "Where did you get these $250 MC from? Because we don't have them this morning"

  • My local Coles had 3/4 left after I bought.

  • Anyone having issues accessing the master card balance site?

    • +1

Yes, it was working much earlier this morning but I can't access to check balance now.

      • system error yeah? same here.

        • Error 15?

  • +2

Guys try you luck to check the gift card wall near each attendant checkout. People already clear out the gift card aisle when I arrived, but I managed to grab some from these area.

  • +1

Plenty in my local, probably helps it's a poor area of Brisbane and most people would be oblivious to it. I did however have issues trying to spend over $1k in one transaction, new credit card (replacement since last one got done by scammers) didn't have a PIN set up so wouldn't work, westpac wouldn't let me spend more than $1k in a day and I can't change it in the app (long story). Ended up getting the assistant to take two cards off and buy 3 in one transaction with my westpac card, then remember my ANZ card number and add it to Apple Pay to buy the additional 2 cards. What a mess, think the assistant was getting annoyed with me.

  • I'm assuming these cards don't work with government bills like registration?

  • any try in cbr? no stock at all…

Coles Schofields: 21 $250 cards left as of 10 am

    • all gone now. the staff is ridiculous.. went there with my wife and they said only 5 per family.

      • Cockburn (WA) said that to me as well. Staff on their power trip again, making up BS rules.

        • +3

I disowned my wife and said we are from different families 😜
Staff response : “Well, I can’t say anything now”.
Both of us bought 5 each and walked away

        • At least you got the card. Went there about 1 pm, there was no stock and front counter just too lazy checking if they have some stored in the cabinet

  • Just double checking but u can do 3 max cards on self service without requiring staff assistance, is that correct?

    • +1

I did one and needed staff intervention

      • +1

Last vanilla gc sale each card as I scanned at the self checkout needs to be intervened by staff I think they manually keyed in the purchase date for each card. i bought 5 then and each cards Im gettning a system prompt that assistance is needed.

      • Thanks

    • +1

I did 3 in one transaction this morning and I needed the assistant to approve it because it was giftcards

  • +1

Managed to get 5x $250 this morning as well. I think some Coles stores are removing them from the gift card stand and holding it at the front register so to ration and release them throughout the day so it doesn't get sold out so quickly.

  • I asked them if i can buy this $250 gc with Coles gift card or not, she said maybe, then i swap 3 x $100 from Shopback super swap card to Coles gc to try and then another one from Coles come out and said no, you can not buy gift card with coles gift card :)

My local Coles had around 10x$250 left when i came in around 8am
