    Afterpay, no thanks

    • Come on, banks love afterpay when you want to borrow money from them.

    • Ha, still haven't used my $10 ebay code. Do not want to sign up.

      • +2

same here. I stay away from any BNPL schemes

haven't used any of those, no matter how good the deals were

    • +5

dumb question - what's with the Afterpay hate on ozb?

      • -7

ask a bank next time you want a loan or mortgage.

        • +5

already done, they didn't care because my income to expense numbers were good.

        • +7

I've used Afterpay occasionally for these eBay sales (always pay all 4 instalments off in one hit) and was not asked about it at all during either of my home loan applications in 2018 or 2021. The bank is only going to care if your afterpay usage is demonstrative of a lack of financial discipline.

          any proof?

          From after pay website:
Afterpay may conduct a soft credit check for new customers when they first sign-up to use the platform. This soft credit check will not impact a customer’s credit score.

Soft credit checks (also known as soft pulls or soft inquiries) are very common and will not affect credit scores, will not be visible to other lenders or creditors and may or may not be recorded in credit reports, depending on the credit bureau.

          • @Zorololo: It's more that people load up on bnpl debt, which looks bad to lenders. If you use and pay off immediately any debt, I don't think they care. It's more if you have thousands outstanding they get put off.

I frequently use Afterpay and my Home Loan went through just fine. I work in the Finance industry also, and when we assessing application, we usually treat Afterpay as discretionary spending, as long as we can see that 1. You have full control over your fund, and, 2.You are not spending outside your mean.

Large/expensive item purchase are absolutely fine, but if you need to use Afterpay on something that's $20 from BigW splitting into 4 payment? We will start questioning if you really have the ability to take on additional commitment.

I swear this excuse should be marked as spam every time it shows up at this point. People parroting this always go silent when asked for proof or a real world example where banks gave 2 shits about these platforms if you're on time with your repayments.

students and teenagers can't open afterpay as they got poor or non existent credit record. I suspect majority of them in ozb, aka zoomers…

        • Opened my afterpay account as soon as I turned 18, could borrow around $400-500 with basically no credit record.

          • @hsp: you can't buy $1200 GPU with $500. unless you mixed and match the payments.

      • +1

seems to be people hating because other people say they should hate it.

        • +1

          zoomers mentality…

These complaints started getting more common after afterpay/zip stocks tanked. A good chunk of these people are probably people who got burned trading, lol.

      • I don't hate Afterpay. Afterpay accept Amex and they have their own rewards program. I am getting rewarded twice for my spending.

  • Good price for this card
Seems like an OK price for 3080
A poor price considering how close we might be to 40 series.

    • also poor price seeing as it's only a 10gb 3080. 8gb GPU's are already on their last legs, 10gb can't be far behind.

      • +1

yeah 12gb version at this price wouldve been ok

      • +4

        Lol last legs

  • +2

    HODL

  • Not a deal. Low and mid tier 3080s have been at this point for months

    • Hey peaked low, for some budget card, at $1080 I think. These 3080 prices are just really average.

Incorrect, that's just price error which BPC honoured for few people. maybe just a few sold at that price.

the 92 votes are just publicity stunt.

  • Should I celebrate and say what a bargain this is? That's how to fit in?

    • +1

Yeah for publicity stunt, just vote + on it.

      where's homer?

  • Done :) It's a great deal. Far better than the $1130 2 years ago.

One day I hope to rank among these 62 people

  • Not sure why people hate afterpay, they dont do credit checks.

    • +1
