  • Intel 12th Gen is much better than 11. In my opinion, AUD2000 for an old version is not a good choice.

I'm sure it is, but I was specifically looking for a 17" Gram, and paying an additional 1,200 for the newer one didn't make sense.

Looks like this comes with $50 cash back from Intel (until June 30), reducing net price to $1948: https://www.intelcashback.com.au/

I'm no expert on such things, but looks like you can also reduce by an additional $30 by purchasing $2k worth of digital JB gift card via CashRewards … hence, final cost would end up being approx $1918.00.

As always though, never hurts to contact store to try haggle for further discount and negate the need for any cash reward process … the Intel Evo $50 applies, no matter what.

The issue with 12th gen is that generates a lot of heat and consumes a lot of power, even relative to the previous 11th gen mobile. This significantly effects battery life.

Question is, are you ready to pay $1998 for a gram, if they have it? :)

I did that this morning and the staff asked me 16 or 17

I've got a 16" older version (8th gen, I think?) of the Gram and I love it. Super light weight, but you'll want to be OK with a lot of body flex - the weight has to come from somewhere. Also my screen's max brightness is about a dim as could be usable in a bright area. You can just make it out if your back isn't to the sun. I can't comment on the price, I got mine second hand for $1k.

Also, battery life even on a 5 year old laptop is amazing - still 8 to 11 hours of reasonable use at full brightness.

  • was TOO OVERPRICED and now is still overpriced. LG makes good solid stuff but just dunno what kind of SXXT in their makrketing crew's head. So Pricy

    • what is your basis for it being overpriced?
as soon as you get a large screen in a laptop the price goes up. And it goes up again when it is lightweight.

I'm thinking this is as cheap as you can get for what it is.
And that's why I bought one a year or so ago.
But always happy to be educated so i don't make the same mistake next time.

you must be rich. I got my lenovo yoga 7i with I7 16Gb 512GB weighing 1.3kg at 1429 bucks (actual paying 550 after all discount ,GC, price match and so on).

very good solid machine with productivity. light enough, fast charging and 300nits touchscreen lasting over 8 -10 hr per charge.

Rich ppl like you must like to pay more for the same or similar stuff.

        BTW——-overpriced
        /əʊvəˈprʌɪst/
        adjective
too expensive; costing more than it is worth.
        "overpriced hotels"

        as per google.
