  • Just ordered from PLE with 1.3% Cashrewards. Thanks.

FYI - according to them, stocks coming on 20/06

  • How was this available in stock to buy on the 14/06? I purchased on the 12/06, and I still have not had my order shipped. Why would they ship to new purchases before fulfulling previous orders?

    • It wasn't available. The OP was viewing a cached version of the page.

  • ordered it today at centrecom and has been consigned and picked up :)
look like it from china, not sure how long it arrive here

  • arrived today, I guess it show wrongly from china

  • Has anyone received their order yet ? Mine is now past the second ETA of 30 June.

I'm waiting as well, I emailed them on the 27th and was advised they are waiting on an updated ETA from the supplier

    • Just got an email today. They're unable to fulfil the order because they cannot obtain any more stock, and Samsung states that this model is now EOL, so they're offering a same-price swap to the Gigabyte G27Q. Anyone have any thoughts or impressions on the G27Q? From a quick glance, it appears to be a pretty good monitor as well. Despite being a 144Hz monitor on paper, a lot of people online suggest that it OCs to 165Hz without any issue (as long as you're using DisplayPort and not HDMI).

      • I got the same email, also want to know if its worth the swap.

      • Got the same email, had ordered one for my wife.

Differences for the G27Q I've found so far:
        - 144hz (165hz on G5, as you mentioned)
        - No swivel (90 deg on G5)
        - Only Freesync (GSync on the G5)

Seems like a fair hit to me for the same price…

          Comparing what's laid out here:

          RTINGS summary for Gigabyte G27Q

RTINGS summary for Samsung Odyssey S27AG50 (Note that the Samsung Odyssey S27AG52 from the original $299 deal is identical in all specifications with the exception of DisplayHDR 400 certification, which is absent on the S27AG50)

The gist of it appears to be that

          • The stand for the G5 has significantly better ergonomics than that of the G27Q (although this won't matter much to me, since I'll be VESA mounting it)
          • The housing for the G27Q is slightly bigger
          • The G27Q is heavier with the stand
          • The G27Q is heavier without the stand (i.e. VESA mounted)
          • The front of the G27Q is a more traditional, conservative design without the "l33t h4x0r gamer vents"
          • The G27Q comes with two USB-A 3.2 ports for use as a hub, and in-built speakers, while the G5 does not (not that I'd ever use in-built speakers anyway)
          • Contrast is more or less the same, the difference is negligible
          • The G27Q has a better horizontal and vertical viewing angle than the G5
          • The G27Q is more colour accurate than the G5 when using default calibration settings
          • The G5 has a poor HDR colour gamut, while the G27Q fares much better
          • Both displays are 27 inch, QHD (2560 x 1440), IPS
          • The G5 is 165Hz, while the G27Q is 144Hz
          • Both displays are NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible and FreeSync compatible, the only difference is that the G5 is "NVIDIA Certified"
          • The G5 has a better response time at all refresh rates
          • Input lag is negligible in difference
          • The G27Q has two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DP 1.2 port; the G5 only has one HDMI 2.0 port and one DP 1.2 port
      • Update: My replacement Gigabyte G27Q has arrived. I haven't had much luck with overclocking it to 165Hz, unfortunately, however the rest of the monitor is pretty much as expected. The VESA mount point is slightly recessed into the monitor (my previous monitor had the screw points flush with the back panel), but there wasn't any issue with getting it screwed onto my specific VESA arm, though I suppose your mileage may vary with other VESA mounts.

        • 26/07 Update: Okay, this monitor absolutely SUCKS for multi-display setups, and really messes with productivity. Whenever the monitor enters idle standby or is turned off, it also disconnects the display in Windows 10, which means that you lose your application window layout and need to frequently re-adjust them, as they are moved to your primary display, and aren't automatically moved back when the display is "reconnected" in Windows when it turns back on.

From what I understand, this is a Gigabyte firmware flaw, as it doesn't use the DP HPD Control pin properly (this is the DisplayPort pin that allows the monitor to communicate hotplug detection information with the computer); my Alienware AW3821DW primary display does not have this issue when connected via DisplayPort. As a workaround, later today I'll see if switching to HDMI prevents this from occurring, but nevertheless, it's absolutely nonsensical that I'd need to resort to workarounds to avoid this issue.

Another minor nitpick is that the power switch (which doubles as a OSD menu joystick) is placed in a very awkward location, you have to stretch your hand really far behind the screen in order to reach it. Personally, I use the power buttons on my displays a lot (I'm not fond of leaving displays turned on when I'm not using them), so this is also quite the annoyance.

        • 26/07 5:30PM update: Using HDMI does not fix the issue. I hate this monitor so much right now.

I also received this email. Not to happy, as i rang and confirmed with them prior to ordering and after multiple times that the order would be fulfilled.
G27Q is fineee but its still not the monitor i wanted. Sounds like gigabyte or PLE are trying to offload more dead stock.
I was offered a terrible discount on another monitor as a response to my frustration. They were not helpful at all, i wont be shopping at PLE again.

  • They sold me a monitor they didn't have. Then gave me 2 different delivery estimates. Shonky, don't buy from them.
