PLUSFY22

The OP from the i5-7500 deal mentioned that this 8th gen model is on sale with the code and I thought it was worth an extra post since it's Windows 11 compatible and a great choice if you want a budget SFFPC or something to give to the parents.

In terms of upgrades inside you have a PCIe 3.o0 x16 and PCIe 3.0 x1 slot so you could upgrade the existing GT 730 2GB GPU to a better low profile card like a GTX 1050/Ti.

There's an M.2 PCIe x1 2230 slot for Wireless and an M.2 PCIe x4 NVMe 2280/2230 slot for SSD storage with 3 SATA ports available. For RAM there's only 2 slots and it'll support up to 32GB of DDR4 2666MT/s memory. The PSU is 180W 80 Plus Gold.

Features:

  • Windows 11
  • Intel Core i5-8500 6c/6t Up to 4.1GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB SSD + NVMe Slot
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630 + GT 730 2GB
  • DisplayPort + VGA + HDMI
  • Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • 1 Year Warranty

@Clear: Yes, that's where it is already posted…

I've dealt with a few of these.
Note: You probably won't be able to fit a low profile gpu like a GTX 1650 or 1050 Ti. This model is more compact than older Pro/Elitedesks and the drive cage will prevent you from lowering in a longer low profile gpu.

A small 1030 might work but unless you're willing to do some cutting I wouldn't get one of these to add a gpu.

It's a tight fit but you will fit a low profile GTX 1050 Ti in one of these as per this pic. I've successfully done it in the 7th gen models of this one before.

  • Are all these machines capable of playing games off Steam? Like your AOE, Rollercoaster Tycoon etc?

    • +2

Yep more than capable of those more old school games.

    • Wdym by capable exactly? Stick a dedicated GPU in there, even if it's a crappy one, and it'll run generally low-spec games just fine.

According to userbenchmark this cpu supports up to 64gb of ram

    • Intel says it supports up to 128GB
Likely the motherboard only supports 32GB

      • 50/50 really. Some models will be configured to only accept up to 32GB, while other times it'll happily accept more.

  • Can you fit a 4 port NIC PCIe card next to the graphics card, or would I need to remove the GPU?

    • Depends on which GT730 is being used, e.g. one with a fan or just a heatsink. Hopefully @Calmago can clarify?

  • I do not see HDMI port on the pictures. Is it available for this model?

    • It's available for every model - just use a Display Port to HDMI cable 👍

Active 4K60 models exist if you want 4K HDMI 2.0

    • The GT 730 GPU installed has HDMI on it I believe.

  • Any idea how many 3.5" hard drives this could fit?
I'm thinking it could be good option for a Blue Iris setup.

    • There's a single 3.5" enclosure.

  • Does anyone have any experience using a machine like this to be a dedicated streaming PC?
As in just using it to run OBS/SLOBS? Or would you need something more powerful?

  • I received item and confirm it came without Wifi + Bluetooth card, HDMI.

  • Does anyone know what the default windows password is? Booted up to user "defaultuser0" but no details provided.
